@@SuperMosh1990 i highly, highly doubt they will take advantage of it. However, the games they have released will be playable on xbox series x regardless through backwards compatibility
@@SuperMosh1990 Rockstar have already confirmed that GTAV will be coming in 2021 to PS5/XseriesX not this year and there will be 2 versions GTAV Online will be F2P and downloadable separate and there will be the single player version that you will have to buy again.
How can you not appreciate what the Series X and Xbox are doing at the moment? Look at the features and services Xbox are offering. Smart Delivery, Quick Resume, Xbox Game Pass, cross generation compatibility for games AND accessories, backwards compatibility... When you start to really think about all of this, how can you not appreciate what they are doing? It's so pro-consumer and gamer orientated it's unbelievable
@@Nemesis2446 you need to do some reseach about Xbox games. Is not possible that you ignore the existence of Hellblade 2, The Medium, Project Mara, Scorn, The Ascent. Many more Triple A titles will be revealed in July.
It also not selfish, you are not well informed, as the Xbox community has wanted this and more backwards compatible features for years now. You are probably angry bc you bought a PlayStation. Lol
@@leonfrancis3418 for real. people say that ps5 ssd will somehow make it better. it´s like ps3 vs 360 era all over again when people thought bluray was going to make games look or run better when all it did was that very big games were able to be packed in one disk instead of two disk. ps5´s ssd wont make a difference, at best it will make certain games load 2 seconds faster.
its okay to have a preferred console. I prefer Xbox, but want to get both consoles day 1. At the end of the day, anyone who limits themselves on what they buy just because of fanboyism is the one missing out on what the other console can bring them.
@@marcosgonzalez6610 yet Xbox has Hellblade 2, Halo, and a Fable 4 or a Fable reboot at launch. And they have smart delivery and they have better specs than the PS5. I'm not saying to PS5 is trash cause I simply want both but learn to read.
I havent had an xbox since the 360 era. Im loving how the new xbox is shaping up. Im mainly a PC gamer now, but I will be getting that sweet xbox series x for sure!
This feature makes me want to jump to an Xbox series X. If the PS5 doesn't have this then all my PS4 games will be a waste and would really make me get the XBox
PS5 most likely has this, they just haven't named it. Remember, Sony already had "smart delivery" between PS4 and PS Vita, but it was called "crossplay".
@@Independenceday95 ya. then they stopped supporting it. and the vita. and now they put in an order from the top that All devs working on PS4 games need to transfer their works over to the PS5, because they are going to stop supporting that console too. at what point do you say "enough"?
Its like when GTA V came out on 360, then came out on Xbox One with an enhanced version and new features. The only difference now is that you had to buy the same game again for Xbox One and that this time the upgraded Series X version will be free, if you already have the Xbox One version.
If PlayStation doesn't have this.. well bad luck.. its so great knowing all the games I have will be running better and also some support HDR ! Amazing
Krackerz how do you know? You know Sony just waits to see everything Xbox has to offer then steals their ideas to make their console better wait and you see Sony bring out something like smart delivery soon
For those who still don't understand, BC and smart delivery are different things. BC it's the same game it used to be in One/360/OG, with some graphic improvements made by Microsoft with AI, HDR and more FPS. Smart delivery is real next gen version for free (improvements by developers)
Tom S I was referring to current era. Xbox One have long list of backward compatibility going back to original Xbox games. Sony PS4 have zero backward compatibility for PS3 games.
@@EfficientTrout They have PSnow to play some ps3 games, but you have to stream them. So if you have bad internet then it's a nightmare trying to play them.
How wrong you are. Don't fall for the marketing. This is just like PS5 running PS4 games in native PS5 mode. The only remaster here is Demon's Souls, a game on the PS3. Remastering is the only alternative when BC doesn't work. And all Smart Delivery does is trick you into thinking XB1 games are XSX games.
One of PC's biggest features is that no matter what PC you'll build and when you'll do it, it will always have your existing library of games. Now Xbox is adapting the same feature - play all the games you own + all the new games that will come to it for a price of one device. And there's Game Pass which is another crazy service to top it all. For me it's a no brainer. Most games I'm playing during each generation are third party games anyway so Xbox Series X is my console to go from the day one. PS5 will join in a few years, just like PS4 Pro did in 2018 to catch up on a few exclusives :)
Smart delivery and Backwards Compatibily is great. This consumer oriented approach will ensure that Sony and Nintendo (maybe even Stadia if it stays alive till then) also adopt the same approach in order not to alienate their fanbase. The only problem I have with Xbox's next gen approach is that they won't offer any Series X exclusives for a while. While the games will be enhanced for the Series X version, there is only so much they can do to enhance it. Think GTA V on XBox 360 vs XBox One X. The latter looks way better, but it is still the same world, constrained to the same CPU limitations of the 360 version. I love the fact that almost all Xbox One games will run on the Series X, so that when I want to go back and play those games, I just insert the last generation disc or just load it up from the start screen. That should totally justify buying one system (Series X) to play all the generations. I do not need the future released games to play on the XBox one too, when I have a system that can run them all at an even better resolution and framerate. I hope Microsoft don't shoot themselves in the foot with this long term Cross-Gen approach.
@Chris _ Upcoming games are all coming to XB1 for at least 2 years. So smart delivery is a nice feature for guys who doesn't have the money saved up for a new console.
If you are a gamer and disliked this video then you obviously aren’t pro consumer.. Xbox is changing the industry for the better how can you hate that? Unless you love to spend money that’s the only explanation I can think of.
That final question, I imagine a time when xCloud becomes an app you can run on the Xbox One. *Stick with me* Eventually games will be made with 0 consideration for Xbox One consoles. However, it's easy to imagine that you could stream Series X games from the cloud to your Xbox One. The same way we do right now with Xbox One games to your phone. In that way, you could keep your Xbox One hardware, have access to current-gen games, and Microsoft has all the more keeping you as a subscriber.
This 💯 been banging on about this for some time, with the work they are doing with xCloud they not only will have backwards compat but forwards compat. Let that sink in, also native app on smart TVs it's bright future for gaming. Console will always be the best experience but if your limited that's ok you have options.
Indeed. They have confirmed that Xcloud will be built into gamepass. This means you can stream instantly from a huge library of games. It will literally become the new Netflix for games.
PlayStation hasn't confirmed their version of Smart delivery (or if they'll actually allow this feature), quick resume and their backwards compatibility is still unclear and murky. I think Xbox's transparency and information delivery is straight forward and has to be credited. I'm still excited for the July event even after they dropped the ball with the Inside Xbox event last month and after watching PS5's amazing reveal last week.
Wow why am I just learning about this now? I'm all in . I have the One X in the computer room and going to pick up the Series X for the bedroom. Microsoft has done a great job here.
During the Road to PS5 event, Mark Cerny said they had the top 100 PS4 games up and running on PS5. Whether or not they will be "enhanced" to take advantage of the new hardware, or just backwards compatable will remain to be seen. Big ups to the Xbox team for this.
does this apply to just digital games or discs aswell? e.g If i buy Cyberpunk disc version for my xbox one and then get a Series X later, will my cyberpunk disc be eligible for xbox smart delivery?
So if I buy the disc version of an Xbox one game I get the digital version for free on the series x ? Don't still need my Xbox one disc in the series x console to play the digital series x version ?
What I personally want from Sony is to have PS4 games especially their first-party titles not only being playable but will benefit the enhancements for both resolution and framerate 4K/60 via patch for free instead of having a re-release via "Remaster" which is supposedly we should be getting it for free just like Xbox.
That's what they're already doing. All PS4 games will run on the PS5 in legacy mode (PS5 downclocked to run like a PS4). Because some game code may not run properly at higher clocks, testing is needed. In reality, this is no different to PS5 running PS4 games in native PS5 mode.
An obviously scripted series of questions and answers however I am grateful for this technology and these guys bringing me the information. Intelligence insulted but simultaneously fed with information lmao
Amazing that Microsoft will make the downgrade themselves for last gen so developers don't have to worry about last gen, they only have to make the best version using all the power of the series X without compromises.
RatedZeus you said that Microsoft will take care of the downgrade for the developers and that’s not what he said he was talking about if developers enhance the game for the Series X all they have to do is upload the enhancements for the game and Microsoft will take care of the rest.
And again there’s going to be compromises if they build games to work on current gen those are facts. Of course they’re not going to come out and flat out say it. Resident Evil 8 had to stop developing the game for current gen because it was going to hold back next gen consoles.
@@josemalbino12 resident evil 8 is only on xbox sx and ps5, PC. Developers don't have to make the games on the ps4/ps4pro or xbox/s/x if they don't want to. Same with ps5 new spiderman and xbox sx Scorn both can't be played on older models
I'm confused as to what makes this different from me playing a game on Xbox 360 and then jumping into my PC version, now it adds the series x versions which was expected, what is the standout feature in missing? Hasn't PC and Xbox BEEN doing this?
No. It would be like when GTA was on 360 and then got made for the one but you didn’t get the new version for free. With smart delivery you get it for free. You’re thinking of play anywhere.
You get an enhanced version of it. Extra development time and assets and more work needs to be put in to the game to update it. Imagine if you are at work you designed a sculpture and you sold it, however you feel you can make it better and start designing a much better enhanced version of the sculpture for the same price. The buyer of version 1.0 wants that update, so do you charge him again? Or do you build him version 2.0 for free?
@@KillswitchRobie828 thats like saying you're happy because you've bought a new PC and steam are being kind enough not to charge you for all your games again just because you've changed your graphics card...
PSVR hasn't even sold 5 million in almost 4 years. It is a flop. It isn't the next level of gaming that we were told. Microsoft can wait until there's actual demand for the thing. Right now it's on it's way to becoming like 3D televisions.
Xbox is such a very easy user friendly console. It may not have the great quality exclusives that the PlayStation has but it’s always an easy choice each generation bc of these other features. I’ll get the PlayStation eventually still tho.
because some developers will want to make games which are so crazy that the older consoles cant support it. Even tho its a developers choice if the game can be played on all versions of xbox then they will probs have the smart delivery feature
The developers have that choice if it is not a Xbox exclusive. Meaning they can double dip "hey you bought it on Xbox One but want it on Series X? Well you need to dish out another 60$ to play it on there" That is their right since they made the game. Xbox is smart and is doing this for all their first party games. To me this strategy is mainly to compete with PS5 and give people reason to come to Xbox which I'm sure some will.
@@WOODZ_76 Xbox One games will run better on XSX just like 360 games run better on Xbox One. That doesnt stop developers from making an XSX version of a game if they want to.
I used to be an Xbox player now I’m PC and PS4, I might not switch back this upcoming generation but man loving this new Xbox feature hope Sony do the same or something similar
So essentially it’s like if for example you have an Xbox series x and you buy a halo infinite disc and it says Xbox one and Xbox series x/s it will give you the xbox series x/s version
Indeed. At release you had that asshat, can't remember what his name was but he basically went "XbOx iS fOR tV". Glad Phil Spenser and Co. have brought it back ready for the next gen.
All I hope is when I get the other games on Xbox series x there is another achievements set Xbox has ben doing play anywhere for a lot of games like gears 5 which is the best you can play it on windows 10 if you purchased it on Xbox one no new achievement set that’s what I’m wondering will the Xbox series x game have their own or are they replacing windows 10 for Xbox series x when you play on PS4 you don’t get 2 separate trophy sets it’s you play the game on vita PS3 PS4 it would of Ben cool if don’t would of made 3 trophy sets instead they just don’t do that
This feels very misleading lol how many of you owned Bioshock and recently got the 4K patch for free. All the developer had to do was upload the new patch and when playing on a Pro or X you're playing the best version and when playing on the base consoles you're playing the original 1080p version. This has existed snice the updated console were released. "Smart Delivery" feels more like a campaign rather than any new technology.
Xbox Series X enables HDR and Raytracing in games that did not have them before with higher resolution and frames and detail on games you already own...thats Next gen.
So say you are selling your one x and want to play from your saved games on the series x, do you have to have both consoles present or can you just load it up from your account? Do you have to upload your games and saves before getting rid of your previous console?
Hate to say it but in the End, Smart Delivery is just like Backwards Compatibility. It's just like having a 360 Game and Playing it on the One. Cloud already was a thing. Same with Xbox One X Enhanced, you can play it on One but looks better on One X. Will be the same old thing again from One X to SX this time around. I wish any Xbox Games will work on the SX, including Classic Xbox, and I hope they get automatic system specific enhancements in whatever way possible.
It's not as simple as you think... It's essentially converting the Xbox one version to the Xbox series X version. You're not just playing the same Xbox one version you're actually playing the Xbox series X version using it's full capabilities without having to buy another version. This doesn't just mean upscaling the resolution but pretty much changing the texture resolutions, lighting, shaders, effects, LODs.... These are things that can't be changed by just upscaling the resolution because the way game dev works these things are usually fixed to the version of the game. That's why rockstar is releasing another version of GTA5 on the PS5.
Depends on the incentive. Say Microsoft goes "Okay, if you hope in, for every account that upgrades and redownloads your game, we will give you 60% of the original cost". It won't be the full cost of the game but we will keep this for 2 years so that when the game goes below the original cost, you will still get the 60% from us. That's how I see it. If a dev doesn't want to ops-in then fair enough, no problem. Players will still have to buy the next-gen version. This is what I'm expecting from EA.
Oh yeah? Well you got CyberPunk2077, Rainboe Six Siege, AC Valhallah and bunch of other games already confirmed to support Smart Delivery and the chain will roll. And at least there is Backwards Compatibility supporting all the previous gen games and even games from the 360 and original xbox era. Sounds like a bad idea after all right? CDPR Might also enhance the Witcher 3 game and evenetually would support Smart Delivery.
Pocket Glove did you not watch the video of you bought a game doesn’t matter what it is it will be on playable on the series x with enhanced graphics and better FPS 60 to 120+
Was this worth the time? If its built for the new system, it runs only for that. If can be on both, it's built with the current gen and upscales on the new console/ or patches to the higher res assets. Which means you are limiting the game's dev to the current gen when you do so or providing a major patch day one to make each version of that game feel different. This was a 1 question interview. It'll be interesting to see how this method compares to PS5's where it's built from the ground up for PS5 only or a game that is patched to run on PS5 with an emulation of PS4 for current gen games.
This is just like PS5 running PS4 games in native PS5 mode. The PS5 has legacy modes which downclock the console to run like a PS4. Almost all of the top 100 PS4 games have been tested and given the OK to run in big boy PS5 native mode.
So it's just backwards compatibility with extra steps and a different name. Sony confirmed backwards compatibility and "boost" versions of 100+ most popular titles on PS4 will be available at launch on PS5 (obviously you have to own the game). Microsoft has to offer better games to remain competitive otherwise they might as well become a better Stadia service with gamepass and ship it on every Microsoft PC. Halo and Forza are great games but I was hoping for more. I didn't really enjoy Hellblade and Outer Worlds was an average open world. I'm sure there is more to announce but my expectations are at an all-time low might buy PlayStation again and wait for Xbox to be dirt cheap.
@@synocalpogman9131 Personally I think Lockhart is real. Though time will tell if Microsoft decides to unveil it or not... Wouldn't be the first or last time that they crate a product, but it never sees the light of day.
So basically just forward compatibility with saves AND some titles able to receive enhancements. The enhancements parts are just gravy, to Xbox fans it's the compatibility from O.G. Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One that is the main appeal.
Ok console wars aside this is great no matter who you are or where you play and I hope this becomes an industry standard. It's forward compatibility, backwards compatibility is amazing but actually giving improvements is awesome to. The xbox one offers some enhancements to 360 and OG games but not seemingly not like this. Imagine if Nintendo, Rockstar and Bethesda did this over Re-releases.
