That's a good point, if XBox starts running all types of third party Windows game stores, their console will likely get much bigger in Japan, where many households either have a computer or a TV and console but not both because of space constraints. That's part of why the mobile gaming market is so big, too.
You may not play as other characters in Guardians but you are constantly giving them commands in an RTS kind of way. This is an underrated game and a solid 8 out of 10, in my opinion.
30:20 if gamepass and epic worked natively on the Steam Deck it would kill the other handhelds unless you want to play certain online games with anti cheat.
I would highly recommend Guardians, especially if you get it on sale. Very fun game, loved the characters, the story is great, and I enjoyed the gameplay. Arguably over stays its welcome by like an hour, but at that point you're so locked in it doesn't matter.
For Bob's list - Persona 3 Reload has been popular this year, being the fastest selling Atlus game when they looked at the first week. Not sure he is into those games, but again just with looking at this year as a whole. The beginning of 2024 hasn't been too bad, we have that, Final Fantasy, Helldivers etc., it is the later half I'm worried about.
Happy Will got his upgrade. If what he was saying when he was awkwardly talking about the price as if he was hiding it from his wife, is close to what I paid for my Wife's M2 15" air. $1449 for the 16GB and 512GB model. Got that one cause she would need the bigger display and most reddit teachers wished they got that instead due to the pros weight. Hope you enjoy your next decade computer Will. Bob ... I guess hi.
I think you are right Will. I played maybe halfway through Guardians of the Galaxy and dropped it cause I got burned out. Excellent story, voice acting, and visuals though. I will also say that I thought it was good enough to come back to. I still have it installed on my xbox because of that.
I'm so curious, is the "Backlog" intro pre-recorded, or do you guys just frantically scream each week to introduce it? I'm guessing the former, but I love that mental image.
why do ppl have it in mind that if you play games on a big tv and you sit on your couch .you must do that on a console ..because pc gaming is for small monitors you sit 2 feet away from.... its weird.. I have my pc hooked up to my living room tv...and we play games there on controllers..i also use a wireless mouse and keyboard if needed.is that not normal
Xbox operating system is literally a modified Windows core with a Hyper-V layer. They can easily make this available to all the oems making handhelds but I would prefer their operating system optimized to a specific set of handheld hardware the way Xbox series console is a specific set of hardware. Having the Xbox system software be compatible to multiple oems is going to be a logistical nightmare and possibly make the system as bloated as full Windows is currently. The other option is to overhaul the Xbox app to be integrated into Full Windows but this retail version of Windows also has the hyper-V layer instead of having a simple app add-on that can't even play Xbox games but the PC version of the games. This would also be a logistical nightmare and most likely be such a resource hog because Windows inherently is a resource hog to which would make a handheld be a poor experience. A third option, with the upcoming Snapdragon X Elite being release, the possibility of a custom ARM based handheld would open up a whole new dichotomy for Xbox as being a specific closed system console unique to the handheld/mobile market. Not only would they develop an Xbox handheld with Windows on Arm core and Hyper-V, but they would also learn how to make Full Windows on ARM to actually improve PC gaming on ARM with possibly a new translation layer to allow game developers to run their games without recompiling code made for x86. This will open the market for OEMs to also fork their hardware for ARM in both the console and mobile market for Windows PCs. Maybe create a new sku outside of x86 based PCs. It's been working for Apple and their cpu/gpu chips and Metal translation layer, it's time for Windows on Arm to catch up. Here's the other incentive, Steam and Epic games could be added to this new Xbox system and native x86/Arm games that they sell can also benefit while Xbox becomes an agnostic platform for all kinds of games specific to PC gaming on the go.
Damnit bob you need address how hard base steam deck (lcd) screws are to remove. I disagreed so hard in your vid saying how easy it is to remove I had to get my dad to drill the screws out cause they all stripped. Thank god its better on the oled
It was fairly easy for me and I'm using a hand screwdriver. Could it possibly be a bad unit or your hand strength isn't quite what it used to be? Keep in mind I'm not trying to be rude just you're the very first person I've seen complain about this and I've seen a lot of people on Reddit talk about it
Appreciate the reply. I may have used a screw not perfectly the right size but even after adjusting etc multiple stripped not just one. Try and google stripped steam deck screws. I did when this happened to me and it was pretty common at least more than many seem to believe
I understand that Nintendo needs to protect its IP but I am disappointed that they refuse to make a quality game for the billions per annum they make off pokemon. The fans are making better games than game freak can be bothered to do. I’m boycotting pokemon going forward. The state of pokemon games is terrible. If they sue pal world for being a monster collecting game I hope they get crushed in court. They can’t own the entire genre if games. Doom clones weren’t allowed to destroy all FPS games.
About Will's Steam Deck: what the actual fuck?! Maybe I'm talking shit but if you remove the board and the phisycal button and the console still thinks that is being pressed it sounds like a software issue, but if that's the case why rebooting or formatting the console didn't make any effect? It's just doesn't make sense. shoutout from brazil though
Microsoft wants to make a handheld I don’t think they do they don’t know what a handheld is you put games in it not stream the games even Sony stopped making handheld consoles you can only play games that’s on your PS5 that’s not a handheld console the one last handheld was the PS Vita it had its own games the only handheld that’s here today is the Nintendo Switch Steam Deck Rog Ally I would of loved the Nintendo Switch if it was powerful but it’s not the Steam Deck got no vibration which sucks
An xbox handheld is not a huge undertaking. Its literally just getting the series s performance profile into a handheld form factor. Many ppl even think that was the end point of the series s in the first place ..with the advancement in AMD tech its relatively easy to make a handheld version of the series s...thats basically what the ROG ally and Legion go are .. and xbox will have the added benefit of ppl have already been making games for series s so everything will just work on that handheld no need for porting. yes this sucks for PC handhelds. Because no windows handheld ui which would benefit all future pc handhelds. But Microsoft already has everything in place the xbox UI, the series s profile, the games...it just makes more sense for them. the only reason to go the PC route is if they want to unify pc and console
xbox would die if they put other storefronts on xbox...it makes no sense ,its long been said you subsidise the price of consoles by the games you sell on your store..meaning .a series s\x is losing microsoft money but they make it back by ppl buying games and sunscription. with steam on xbox..they would get less game sales to the xbox store and less subscriptions. which means theyll have to make a profit on console sales meaning xboxs will cost more which will see them sell less.. they only way this makes sense is if they get a cut of steam sales on xbox
Honestly at this point Xbox just needs to make their console essentially a PC for dummies that can run steam and epic natively and also have game pass. The UI just needs to be a little closer to a PC. It’ll get console users to buy from other online store fronts with the simplicity of a console. The hardware and architecture of modern consoles are already essentially computers.
Xbox NATIVE handheld... @99$??? supposedly.. even if its price of PS portal or MORE. Instead of PS portal streaming device to count as PS5.. these new XBOX NATIVE play handhelds would count as XSX DAMN SURE... and IT WOULD BE AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME :D Imagine forza horizon 5, Forza motorsport, Gears 5,4,3,2,1 Halo's FABLE... Hell Palworld :D FF14+every other #FF, Age of EMPIRES on go :D Indiana Jones/Avowed/ ESVI/ starfield/ Hellblade2/ Towerborne.. AND NEW FABLE next gen on go :D Xbox game pass ALL titles on GO :D NATIVE... you can even play your XBOX different person different game.. same time play your XSG (Xbox series GO) or even take it on the GO..
