Bro, that was so much cleaner than my mission. I came in with a squad of four (warden armor, magnetic weapons) and ended up getting 2 rangers and Grenadier Arnold Schwarzenegger to 3 hp and had to rely on one sniper, who’s going to have permanent back pain from carrying that mission so hard.
The ranger is actually named for the lead dev of XCOM 1-2 who tweeted shortly before the games release that he had manually blocked the nickname Hot Load from generating so I just had to manually pull him in from the dev character pool and fix it for him.

Funny little side effect of the way XCom processes turns. You can also see (or hear) it happening with the Lost. When you kill something that explodes on death (like a Gatekeeper), you can hear the Lost howling as soon as you issue the firing order. Somehting similar also happens when I face ADVENT with lost spawning. I play with Yellow Alert Gameplay, which has AI to AI activation, so at the beginning of each mission ADVENT and the Lost see each other and basically every pod gets activated, and I can hear the Lost howl way before any grenades or micro missiles are launched
