Ares at 4:20 with the "I got a thing for her" is just a perfect summary of their relationship over the series. I love how simple they kept it there and it worked perfectly, imo.

Ares was always one of the best parts of Hercules and Xena. He was an amazing actor.

This show was awesome...tons of plot holes and inconsistencies but really awesome. Also one of the better depictions of the gods power set. They are basically reality manipulators.

In mythology, Artemis bow is said to never miss its target once its shot. No one, not even Zeus, can stop the arrow once it’s released. Xena caught not one, but 2 arrows, putting her way above god level.

I thought Ares was so handsome in this series. Really miss Xena and Hercules with Kevin Sorbo. Loved watching the story lines.

Imagine what effects they could do with this show if it were made today? I miss Xena ⚔️

4:14 The things we do for love. This is where I came to respect Aeries the most in this series. It seems that all those times spent in the world amongst mortals made him understand them more to even give up his immortality for them.

i'm so glad they made Athena a villain in this show . I'm an avid fan of greek mythology , and I think greek mythology is super biased towards Athena ( no surprise there, she was the top 3 most beloved god in ancient Greece, if not their favorite ) . All i can think about is the way she treated Medusa . Medusa ( before her transformation) was a beloved priestess, not only because of her wisdom and grace but because she was exceptionally beautiful . People would come from far just to attend to her masses in Athens , so much so that Athena herself became jealous of her . Poseidon and Athena had a beef , he was jealous of Athena's popularity and when they renamed the city that used to praise him the most after her , he became even more jealous and wanted revenge . He r*ped Medusa (Athena's most fervent priestess) as retaliation , and what did Athena do when she found poor Medusa traumatized , all efed up after what happened to her ? she blamed her for the r*pe and turned her into the monster we know to "punish" her for her vanity . Later she helped Perseus ( Zeus , half-god son aka her half brother kill Medusa . He then offered Medusa's head to her and she wore it as a trophy on her shield ever since) . so yeah , to me she was not really the symbol of justice that people praised her for , but a cold, jealous goddess . Not saying she was all bad, but she was not the perfect goddess people praised her as . This is why I like the way she's portrayed in "Xena" , we see a bit of her nastiness . She also had a beef with Ares since she literally took over his job as god of war

1st this proves that Ares LOVED Xena - i mean he gave up his GODHOOD for her 2nd and strangely i just noticed this the chains that he was caught in just fell off of him BECAUSE he was no longer a God, they were created by Hephaestus to hold a god, once he lost his godhood they stopped working.

Athena had a chance to prevent the twilight of the Olympian gods if she just took Xena's deal. Unfortunately the Greek goddess of wisdom let her pride be her undoing. Most of the Olympian gods were killed by Xena, and while Athena did come close to winning, Xena won because of Ares being in love with Xena. The only Olympian gods to survive were Ares and Aphrodite.

The dollar store plastic chains on Ares are hilarious!! And it looks like they would just fall off him if he didn`t hang on to them lol!!

This was always more my speed, all my teenage friends were more into Baywatch.

Athena showed her true colors. She revealed herself to be just like most other Olympian Gods: A petty, selfish, manipulative, egotistical bully. I loved it when Xena shoved her sword into Athena's stomach. Athena thought she was invincible and she wasn't.

Only Xena could fight gods and goddesses and actually defeat them lol

In the end, Athena made the fatal mistake that many in military history made. She underestimated her opponent. Especially when that opponent was something she wasn’t: a mother.

Looking back it. It logically doesn't makes sense why Athena and Xena would be enemies. If anything wouldn't Athena be trying to make Xena her champion? The whole senario is just wrong. Athena would have most likely granted her wish pretty much on the spot just to have Xena a WARRIOR on her team. As a kid I was like woah cool! As an Adult who loves lore and mythology...I'm like "Hold up!" Also Xena went down hill when the touched the Christianity and time travel part.

It is funny how Xena became some sort of Wonder woman. I mean she is supposed to be a strong woman with extreme good fighting skills. But by the end of the 2nd season she was as strong as a god.

I used to doubt Ares's statements about loving Xena. Here, however, he proved me wrong. He saved the two people she loved the most at the expense of his immortality in godhood. Something no one could have legitimately demanded of him, he did voluntarily.
