Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ANALYSIS w/ Chuggaaconroy! - Reveal Trailer (Secrets & Hidden Details)

Had a good laugh going back to this after playing the game, “the cat-girl is obviously not a blade”

This is the only time Chuggaaconroy has ever talked about XC2.

Looking back at this, the three script pages didn't change at all: the first is a conversation Vandham has with Rex and Pyra (Homura in Japanese) in Chapter 3 (obviously but spoilers lol) about the bond between the Driver and his Blade (no mention of the Aegis yet). The second one, the comedy "bath" (hot spring) scene happens in Chapter 4 between 3 girls Nia, Mythra (Hikari) and Poppi. The script mentions Pyra because Nia mentions Pyra in a dialogue as she thought Pyra was entering, not Mythra. Also it could be a possibility that the name Homura was confused for Hana (Poppi in Japanese) but I don't think so. Finally, the third script page seems to be the scene when the expedition crew is about to enter the Ancient Vessel in Chapter 1, the party consisting of Rex (not mentioned), Nia, Jin and Malos (Shin and Metsu in Japanese. Also, you got the part about the villain right hahaha).

Who else has to finish Xenoblade Chronicles before getting this sequel?

Lets be real, every single time a Xenoblade game came out, everyone complained about the character design. Back when the original came out a bunch of people complained about how blurry the faces were, and that the designs were generic. Back when X came out, a bunch of people got annoyed at the doll-like anime faces, especially the female ones. Now everyone is saying this style is generic and too anime. It's still a cohesive looking artstyle, and it could honestly also bring more overall expressiveness and emotion to the characters (if used correctly, like shown in the concept art highlighted by the trailer), which was a characteristic that I found missing in many of X's characters (many of them acted almost like robots... ohwait). That fact, combined with a possible renewed emphasis in narrative driven story progression (and good showing of voice work, crossing my fingers for some brits) could make for another delicious experience indeed.

I'm seeing a lot of comments about the Lifepods from Xenoblade Chronicles X being a callback to the Zohar from the Xenosaga trilogy. I didn't miss the connection as I've followed Xeno-games since Xenogears. The thing is, I don't think there's anything MORE to it so no need to mention the Zohar and make things complicated for newcomers. To me, it's simply a visual callback like Lin's Monado hairclips, just as I mention in the Analysis. That said, I hope everyone is enjoying the video!

Another reason to think Nia may be the cat-girl: Nia=Nya (The Japanese onomatopoeia for cat noises) This is probably a stupid reason to think that's her name, but it's something I should point out.

We can safely assume this game will match, but probably look better than XenoBlade Chronicles X. With that said, running that as a portable is nothing to complain about. Switch is a very capable machine. So stoked.

People complaining about the character art... Don't tell me you were a fan of the original Xenoblade character designs and Chrono Trigger when you saw them for the first time... A great story can make the most mundane character designs shine...

In he picture with Rex and himora holding hands Rex still had the Monado. It's possible that the Monado and himora are separate but she can possess the blade or give it her power. The gem isn't on the blade in the picture with them together but it is in the one with Rex alone.

9:40 I'm surprised you guys didn't note that in the image without Homura, the gem is now present on the blade.

the character art is a big turn off

It's so funny hearing Derrick sound so serrious and Chugaa just speaking his mind. Derrick is all like Yeah... and ignores what Chugaa just said.

So happy they got Chugga on this. He's great at doing his research and covering things from every angle; he's a great resource for this type of thing. Hope you have him on again sometime!

Have you noticed how the final clip looking up at the giant tree is very reminiscent of the view from the Bionis knee looking up at the Mechonis? I bet that was intentional, and perhaps is showing that this tree is growing up from where the Mechonis once stood.

I like these tag-team analysis format. Great work! I think this game was one of the bigger surprises from the event because I didn't really expect to see anything related to Monolith's new project. But like everyone has already said…the likelyhood of this actually coming out this year? Slim haha

Isn't this artstyle reminiscent of the old Xenogears days? So why are people against the artstyle so much?

Looking back. There are so many things we got wrong. And so many things we got right. The script seems to be the same. Though we end up seeing Lyra and Mythra with their full core. Also to any who see this, does Gormott look a little empty compared to how it is now?

That shot at the end of the trailer is very reminiscent of the title screen of the original, with the new not-monado resting point down in the ground something large looming in the background.

Hopefully there will be English accents, the American accents were fine for X, but if this is a sequel to the original Xenoblade, I'd prefer English accents.

19:36 I do believe that you can not see the entirety of the tree there and that there could be a city on top, because if you look right above where the leaves of the top of the tree ends there is a pole that continues going up aligned with the trunk of the tree, and there the city could be sitting, kinda like Kami's Lookout in DBZ or like Solaris.

You mean, JUST like the LAST Monado? I HAVE to feel that with the name "2" this is probably the world that Shulk created.

I think it's interesting that no one pointed out that when the sword activates (can be seen at 9:05 ), there is a kind of green-yellow energy that protrudes from the back that is very similar to the designs commonly associated with Alcamoth, High Entia, and the Telethia.

I love how accurate some of these speculations are, and how far out the rest are "...short haired girl, but we'll get *into* her in a bit."

Drivers that have girls that transform into swords? Did they really steal the main premise of Valkyrie Drive?

I don't think you can quote characters from Xenoblade Chronicles without using the accent.

I don't mind the character art. It makes the game distinct from the original. Also, gear may be changeable in the same way they were in the original where it appears in the cutscenes. The only thing I want is for the cast to have English accents like the original Xenoblade Chronicles. It might be best if NOA stays away from this one. Hopefully we get more info at E3.

I'm thinking the Airship is the main base of operations. The blades are powered by the blue energy sources, and the door is the captains quarters.

The last shot looks like the opening background to the original Xenoblade chronicles titles when you start up the game , with the Monado stuck in the ground.🤔

To be fair, I really want an X sequel since there were so many ideas left open, but this will do.

In that shot of the girl riding the cat, I think the glowing plant in the top left is a pollen orb. It has a beehive pattern, and it lights up.

This was a great analysis video! Thanks Derrick and Chuggaconroy! I would say that the blonde girl towards the end of the trailer feels like the next Melia, she just has that look to her and a princess like style. We'll see, I'm looking forward to this game!

I like the change in the Art Style. I didn't like the facial features from Chronicles and X, especially the nose.

The blade that Rex is holding in the scene where he says "I'm not gonna let you stand in her way!" looks more like Hakari than Homrua imo

4:45 One of the most defining aspects of the first Xenoblade was that the whole gameworld was located on the bodyparts of Bionis and Mechonis, so it wouldn't surprise me if Xenoblade 2 did something similar and this "giant stone creature" is actually just the head of a giant on which the game takes place. For example the scene in the trailer where you can see the head of the giant creature could take place on its right shoulder or perhaps even on a wing if this giant can fly (the trailer seems to be heavily focused on the sky, making a flying/floating gameworld pretty likely). Consequently, the whale at the end of the trailer could act as the next big location you can visit later in the game. I love the setting of the first Xenoblade and I would be really happy to see these concepts return. Especially the fact that the giants would be alive in this title could result in some amazing sceneries!

What if Xenoblade Chronicles X is the 10th "episode" in the story, with Xenoblade Chronicles being the first episode and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 being a sequel to the original episode and with episodes 3-9 leading up to the events of Xenoblade Chronicles X

That would be awesome if she was the sword, never played a zenoblade cause I really didn't want to buy she Wii or Wii U for one game but I'll get this on switch

5:35 In fact, the little X mark by this new protagonist's neck is there. If you can look closely enough (which you apparently didn't), it is there. It's the same color tone as his skin, but you can see it as a bump.

I dont like the art style. Whats wrong with semi realistic? Id rather have characters with some dignity and grounded personality given to their designs instead of generic anime trope stuff that offers no meaningful significance to who they are. Not that this isnt a game that cant be made, but thats not the impression i got from Xenoblade as a series. It doesnt fit it. And guys, be open minded. Dont accept a new art style just because its "new". Honestly, it isnt new at all, even in a broader sense. Its mundane
