After this the game kinda dropped in the quality of writing and scenario honestly, this shit was even worse than cs iv curse it has all the elements. Power of music, brainwashing, an old guy hugging from behind literally a teenager (gross shit) for no fucking reason oh, just because he is le crazy moebius evil i guess , the experiment shit didnt go nowhere nor it serve anything, didnt serve any purpose basically, resurrected characters and weighted down the impact of death and the cycle of rebirth in the world. What the fuck was Takahashi smoking on this one lmao.
Ok but brainwashing and resurrection make sense. Brainwashing because that's basically what most of the moebiuses do. And resurrection because all characters are constantly resurrected without memories of their previous lives. (That's why Mwamba and Camuravi have no memory of the party) Miyabi was never dead to begin with. The power of music is cliche tho, I agree. Edit : Miyabi may have died, if it's the case then it's the power of music bullshit.
I honestly find it better than XC2's inconsistent emotional beats at least this one's tonally proportionate (XC2 felt like a light coming of age story, this one's just... Sets itself up as something that's bound to end ultimately bittersweet, particularly accentuating the bitterness; and XC1's charm was due to how straightforward its story was presented. I like how this was a bit more... abstruse in terms of presentation. Also want to point out that, in the end, the characters revivals (while shoehorned) felt kinda apt? It's like... They're bound to be reset anyway, seeing them expanded upon before the two worlds parted again just leaves it feeling more... Wrapped up- it's as you said, they're trapped in a cycle of life and death ad nauseam. (I also liked the set of characters better too and the way the romances tragically ended by the worlds' parting once more [or at least was left ambiguous to leave leeway for interpretation] felt better than Fiora and Shulk's romance which was practically set to stone making me feel like seeing their intimate momentsmade me feel like it wasn't something I was supposed to see... This one had platonic love and actually made me see how each character grew to comport themselves in a ragtag team they were forced upon [which my YA novel-addicted self loved]) But meh... to each is to their own I guess...
It's to show the various types of people that had wished for their own desire to never end. One desired for the thrill of battle (D), one desired to be with a friend (N), one just wanted to be able to make his own choices in life (J), and one just forgot what he wanted (Triton - lol). The experiment not going anywhere has a point in the story like every other Moebius character, they have a desire, and for that desire to never end. Moebius Y just wanted control of people. Turning them into puppets by taking their "will" away. Controlling them (by using an off-seer). At least, that's how I interpret it. I am unsure what you mean by "dropped in quality of writing and scenario" because most of the things you listed (power of music; brainwashing, pedophilia, pointless experiment, resurrecting characters) only happened very few times. Cammuravi and Ethel don't actually have their memories of their previous life but they don't desire to continue their old life but find a new purpose with the new life. Nimue who was Taion's mentor does not remember him at all when she was resurrected. Miyabi seems to be a special case where she remembered quite clearly her previous life's relationships. Additionally, the resurrection shows how much the characters have grown. Most people desire a change when they suffered loss, but when that loss is returned, people usually give up on the desire for change. But the cast has shown that they will continue their fight for a better world to allow people to decide for themselves even when the deaths of people is what pushed them. For example, if Bruce Wayne had his parents brought back to life (before he chose to become Batman). Do you think he would still continue on to become Batman?
