I agree that she's also a protag but Noah still felt like "the main protagonist" if that makes sense. He was still a bit more important. But I'm still happy that she's very central to the plot.
@@kyurei4478 Yeah, Noah is the character we begin and end the game on and he also gets the big plot sword. Also, while Mio definitely gets some fantastic moments of plot-defining agency, we still see a lot of her actions explicitly from Noah's perspective instead of her own. She's definitely a main protagonist in her own right, but the story perspective sticks closer to Noah.
@@KazeAkiyama that‘s when the voice actors actually were used to their roles. 2‘s Dub was so mishandled, it‘s sad because the voices are pretty good, the direction just sucked
@@Justforvisit For sure. I think Adam was more consistent in his performance, coasting along that 95-99/100 the entire game, and I think Harry had a bit of a slow start (though that might be intentional since Noah was supposed to be pretty wooden at the beginning), but when he had to deliver, he damn well did give it that 100 percent.
I'm gonna be real with you guys, in Xenoblade 2, the screen just cold cutting to a black screen with the chapter number and title after a huge story beat or emotional moment gave me chills every single fucking time. That shit is raw as fuck because you're hit with massive emotions and then the game just cuts you off so matter-of-factly that all you can do is let it sink in. Maybe the voices weren't great, but watching this, I am reminded just how much that one detail hard sold every moment it occurred for. Fucking awesome.
I totally agree, I remember whenever the game did that I would kinda just sit there, in shock over what just happened, then the futility of it all would sink in. It was something else
Noah's VA killed it man, Mio too. Never disliked the prior voice acting in either game despite the mixed reputation of 2, but the Rex clip followed by Noah is night and day. Somewhat understandable as Noah's scene was significantly more intense, but still. I think it's also worth mentioning that everyone in the comments points out a different line from Shulk as being their favorite, which says a lot about how great Howden is.
Is the fact that Noah is the "positional attacker male swordfighter protagonist" just like both Rex and shulk, while mio is also a protagonist she only shares that, she is a tank, female and doesnt use a sword
Man, the voice direction in 2 got done so dirty. That game can be so emotional but sometimes it takes you out of it cause the actors had to act without any kind of clarity as to what the heck was going on.
@@Super_Spectral it's a shame too, cause it's gonna be that way forever, I don't seem them getting the actors back to redo their lines in a future re-release.
for me Shulks most iconic scream is "talk all you want... because those words... WILL BE YOUR LAAAAAAAAST" and mio (my overrall new fav scream) "stop... stop toying, with EVERYONE'S LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVES" and the whole sequence after that is just...... 11/10 specially after that punch
@@tarson84 I don’t like her as a character, I think her inclusion in the story hurt the story and felt forced, and I feel like the could’ve done more with her as a character. I feel like she was almost supposed to be the Joran of Agnus, and they could’ve executed that much better.
@@Super_Spectral I agree that most of the time, it does fit just right. Sometimes, however, I think Howden is too good. Really underrated voice actor and he deserves more main roles.
@@slopernafti902 Yeah, when the Monado took it's toll and Shulk was casually rolling on the floor while Adam Howden sounded like someone justs hot him. I wonder if that's why they don't show Noah during that scene at all.
@@arctohru For real, that electrocution scene makes me wince so hard every time, i automatically shut my eyes. The agony in the screams is just that good.
Just got to this bit in 3 earlier, and holy hell I think we've topped Shulk's scream, the absolute raw emotion in that scream is just, my word it is chilling in how agonized it sounds.
HUGE XENOBLADE 3 SPOILERS Please see the scene shown in the video to their fullest. God, imagine how Mio felt during that scene 0:48 That would be heartbreaking to hear. Imagine trying to keep up appearances during all that.
Am I the only one who notices that the entire Xenoblade Chronicles Trilogy consists of the Main Characters screaming for their girlfriends while they’re about to die only for them to come back from the dead?
i just remembered that one where(spoilers yellow, more op, pyra) shows up and(ono i didn't even get to bring him up to level 40!)'s rex scream. that one is more iconic.
I hope when we get Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Definitive Edition in the year 2030 for the New Nintendo 3DSwitch XL Pro OLED, we get the original cast back to rerecord their lines with better direction. XC2 has some of my favorite characters and it's a damn shame that some of the voice lines just didn't land because of the little to no direction they got.
Spoilers in case you're carelessly watching these not having beaten the game yet. Noah's "Come on! Come On! COME ON!" is a good runner up or his scream while delivering the final blow against P and O
@@Super_Spectral I mean back then she didn't actually die. She's been kept and experimented on that's how lost her memories (and eventually get it back), but no she didn't get 'revive' like others.
The intended reason may be that she didnt have a seat, but idk you, if i have to lie on top of 2 persons to enter the scapepod im liying on top of the 2
You’re definitely not the first person to comment this. I chose not to include that because I consider Jin and Lora the protagonists of Torna, and not Mythra
There are multiple possibilities, I’ve finished every game and there are a number you could be talking about. Although I have a feeling I know which one you’re referring to
Harry Mcentire went ahead and surpassed my expectations. i always thought no one could top Adam Howdens work Shulk but Harry proved me and probably alot of other people wrong
Very nice. I dont mind race car rex not being here but Shulks; "ILL KILL YOU" could have been here as well. Dang Noahs really hits the feels. "N" as well
Al Weaver got done so dirty. If the game actually had proper voice direction, he could’ve easily been on the level of Adam Howden and Harry McEntire. Some of the moments towards the end and his brief appearances in SSBU prove that… Same goes for the rest of the cast in XC2, to be frank.
@@Super_Spectral oh, for sure! Him and Zeke’s VA were both standouts. And all the returning ones definitely got a good second chance in Torna, especially Skye Bennett’s Mythra.
it seemed in the game like he was really trying his hardest and yet it still sounded like a wet fart. No way he could be on the level of Adam and Harry, it's not possible.
Technically Noah screams Mio’s name in agonizing pain twice because N seeing M was the one who actually died and not Mio (N and Noah share the same VA)
Honestly, Rex's voice acting is only really bad in parts of the first chapter, and a few sub- par screams later on. The game didn't have amazing voice acting, but much of it was still really good. It's just a shame that Rex's screams weren't done better.
Well it can’t rain at Galahad fortress, Tantal is too cold for rain, the weather is always set to overcast at Agnus Castle, and Colony Omega was indoors. Xenoblade characters and rain don’t seem to accompany one another
At least for the yells. Shulk’s my favourite character in the series and second favourite video game character of all time. So my protagonist ranking would 1. Shulk, 2. Mio, 3. Noah, and 4. Rex. I do like Rex, I just feel like the others are a bit better.
Spoilers below, just in case Miyabi should have just gotten into the pod. It's definitely big enough for 2. Anyway, the cutscene where they're fighting her and Noah's solution is "Feelings! Mio, it's feelings!" And then they proceed to have a flute-off with Miyabi mid battle, that was just dumb.
@@Super_Spectral Oh yeah, that's right. Maybe the pod can only be launched from outside? A weird design choice but that's the only thing that could have it make sense
