I think it's definitely something worth trying, at the very least. Gameplay as far as an RPG goes is simple, yet flashy and fun, and the whole series has a rather good story and interesting characters in most places. Like most people will say though, Number 2 in the series seemed to goof a bit on the combat system, though honestly, that was the only real fault I managed to find in it. Mainly recommend it only if you don't want to be lost on the story. At the very least, like I said, it's something worth at least trying. Also, if this is too late to be relevant anymore, I apologize, just thought I'd give my two cents.

The entire series is, taken as a whole, a hidden gem discussing both metacognitive and existential topics. It is simultaneously antiestablishment and doesn't pull punches on the result of the characters' final actions, and maintains a theme of hope and grief. Episode II is the weakest of the three.

Xenosaga is absolutely epic, particularly the 1st and 3rd, though the 2nd's only saving grace is the storyline, it's a major disappointment. The 3rd is an absolute masterpiece though.

This whole series need a remaster. Just give us a “skip puzzle” feature. So we can skip the silly missions like deliver pizza 😅
