XG8000E - Honest and Not a Happy Review 

Just came across your video and thank you! I also ordered new and was DOA. Stuck needle valve was my issue. Air, gas, spark. Was not getting gas. I hit carb with a rubber mallet. Crude but effective. Now, nine years later, needs a starter. Does pull start, though.

I have 2 xg8000e units for about 6years. I bought the second one a year later as i was so pleased with the first one..i still have both at two different locations and they run every time immediately.. one unit has been outside for all of those 6 years in a semi exposed shelter..the unit looks like its been through a war but runs like a swiss watch..im sad that your unit caused you so much grief. I cant comment on the service or warranty but it wouldn't surprise me if generac were difficult as many companies spend more time on sales then support..as for Chinese units, all i can say, ive had many tools when i was younger and starting out as a contractor that were Chinese made and i can say in my current $30-$40 thousand tool inventory i have absolutely no Chinese tools as they have ALWAYS let me down in the long term wether it was cheap materials or difficulty getting replacement parts there are made extremely cheap and dont last, they may start but i wouldnt run it hard..not to mention no one should be supporting a country like china with such poor human rights. If ya want a sure thing buy Japanese..buy a honda and keep it for life..i would have but at the time we had no dealers around..Good luck with what ever ya have..

I just took my XG7000E out of the box and will not start either. Brand new machine. Never been used. Thanks this is helpful.

Thank you for the video...I'm doing some homework to buy one since we almost got hit with Hurricane Irma in San Antonio, TX. I need to be prepared. Thank you so much I'm going to keep looking for one RU-vid is a great tool for this kind is stuff. I already scratched POS Generac from my list.

That is sorry to hear. For a no mechanic geek you did a great job of finding the fault. BTW... I would have sent it back too. Hope you found a brand and model that works for you.

I bough the same unit several years back and had no problem. I was impressed because it was US made. I was discourage to find out the same model today has a foreign made motor and foreign made parts. Not a quality unit anymore.

You know that sucks. Sorry you had to go through that. I myself like to buy USA made stuff but you must wonder sometimes why companies flee and go to foreign countries to get cheaper labor and working products. We have some lazy ass people who are just happy to have a job and not care or dedicated enough on what they do.

I have one of these. On 1st ztart... mine did not start either.. but.....after I left the gas on for an hour or so... it started right up and has started every time since easily... so. My advice is open fuel valve.. sit .. I figure that it took awhile for the fuel to work through the fuel line..

bought me a duel fuel champion paid about 550 for it no problems yet only running on propane

I have 3 champion generators 2 3000 watt and 1 5500 watt generator all have better than 600 hours on them we best the shot out of these framing houses and no issues for the price they can't be beat

That fuel valve is flakey. I have 10000. Same thing.

you fixed it! at least you know it wasn't a used unit!

Probably should have used their oil for engine breakin as it states in the manual before using the Mobil 1

I have a Coleman Powermate 8250 , with a 13 hp Honda engine. 15 years old and runs like new. Starts on the 2nd pull runs 10 hours on a half load, but who does that?

I am a manager of one of the big box stores that sells Generac portable generators and installs Generac standby generators. I can honestly say from experience I do not recommend purchasing any generator from Generac. They are not what they use to be and customer service is almost non existent. Even my certified Generac installers hate dealing with Generac, they all say that their customer service is horrible and getting Generac to cover warranty claims or obtaining parts is a nightmare. I have on many occasions refunded the customer at the stores expense because of a bad unit or warranty experience the customer has had with Generac. I have also dealt with Generac customer service first hand on behalf of customers and can state that Generac's customer service is more interested in protecting their bottom line then in standing by their product or doing what is right for the customer. I have a background in electrical engineering and can tell you that the Generac generator of today are not the Generac units of years gone by. They are made to meet a particular price point and are not made for longevity. If you have any doubts please read many of the reviews regarding Generac generators.

I have a 20 KW Generac installed by Lowe's. The installer took the intake tunnel apart because it was his belief that it restricted the air flow and he has told Generac that. This is about a 270 intake tunnel I still have it the way he left it. We tried it assembled under load with the entire tunnel intake the twin V started "hunting". We took the extra plastic off of the intake under the same load and no "hunting" in other words it is surging and running rough. The Generac engineers are good people but they just can't grasp the idea that they can be wrong. bikenutt1000 I appreciate your detail in clearing this up for people instead of wasting their time and money. Depending on the application for a generator would depend on how many KW hours you need my fore the entire house it does great as long as I leave tunnel like it is. If it was going to be more than that wrong with it believe me Lowe's would of had to start over again. It has to be reliable for the money I spent and it has been.

This didn’t start because if you read the manual it tells you you need to have more than half of a tank of fuel for the first time you run it. If you read the forums you will see that written everywhere could’ve avoided all of this by filling the tank and putting some fuel stabilizer in it

And that right there is why I buy Honda. You can't beat them. You get what you pay for.

to change the battery which did not last 2 years you have to take the generator apart gas tank off side panels off lots of work who at Generac ok this piece of shit design, shaking my head American made crap xg8000e
