US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, managing a critical channel of communication at a time when US-China relations are at a crossroads. After the meeting, Xi said: "China would like to see a confident, open and prosperous United States. We hope that the United States will view China's development in a positive light. Once this fundamental problem is solved... Sino-US relations will truly get better and move forward." Blinken said: "President Biden asked me to return here to follow up on the important agenda that both set in SF: to seek to deepen areas of cooperation, as well as to manage responsibly differences that we have. I think we’ve seen progress in these areas of cooperation, particularly restoring military-to-military cooperation, counter-narcotics, artificial intelligence, and working to strengthen our people-to-people ties." CNN's Kristie Lu Stout reports.
