Xiaomi 14 Pro overheating issue? A look at SD8Gen3 benchmarks, Anutu, geekbench 6, wildfire stress test, and Genshin Impact performance. I bought this 12/256GB Xiaomi 14 Pro here: tradingshenzhe...
Well i think this is a normal behaviour towards the stress test and gaming that pushes this phone to its limits.. if lets say it does overheat just by doing the normal stuff.. i think thats quite the real problem..
well, Xiaomi phone's are famous for that, the same story with previous models, and yep under real life stress test still performs better than iPhone and got about the same temps, the thing is if you play games and have half of the brightness, phone doesn't get that hot, anyway if someone game's on a phone he should get a gaming phone, as Digital Foundry did video on iPhone gaming performance they said themselves that this isn't great experience for longer than hour of gaming, and battery and chip life will degrade faster anyway, actually only Rog phones would be good for that type of gaming and redmagic series
Not to mention performance mode is known for overheating the phone, it even warns you when enabling it. (would be good if videos like this actually showed that warning) Much higher power draw, much higher target temps and barely any performance benefit. These tests should have been done in the normal mode to begin with.
@@ThereIsOnlyOneRandom although iPhone declared AAA gaming with PC console level gaming experience on a phone and just by throwing this optimistic words they sold a lot of 15 series devices. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@Blue_Man Performance mode was jsut for Geekbench and Antutu. Gaming and 3DMark I used the normal mode to keep the heat at bay but even they it had trouble with 3Dmark's stress test crash 2 of 3 attempts to get a score.
Overheating is a real problem, and not only for our hands, but for the device lifespan. My mi11's motherboard burned while playing genshin impact. Fortunately It was still under warranty and I received a free motherboard replacement. + It's really bad for the battery, even if the performance don't dip, 46°c frame means motherboard is even hotter, that's why I stopped heavy mobile gaming.
my Xiaomi mi 11 also had problems during the game, due to the high temperatures the wifi broke... now I have a Xiaomi mi 12 pro... and I see that it also suffers from heating, I think the cause Both Samsung's production process and those produced by TMSC suffer less from the heat
Xiaomi 14 pro Normal Mode 3d mark 703mhz And put in the performance mode phone all apps boost the performance to 903 mhz do not turn on the performance mode if you do not want it to get too hot,İts Gaming Mode boost the phone performance.Normal 703mhz is already much higher than 15 pro max and genshin Xiaomi 14 pro 1220p resolution much higher than iphone 15 pro max 430P
All tests where run on the performance mode expect 3Dmark which if I do run on performance will crash and boot me out of the app as it overheats most of the time.
@@Techtablets Performance mode %60 percent more power and %20 percent more performance my Xiaomi 14 pro doesnt heat normal mode cpu score same and gpu score %20 percent lower doesnt more than performance mode Your all videos are great my think performance mode editing apps turn on and save your time normal genshin pubg all apps great performance normal mode
@@Techtabletsthen don't use it, simple as that, performance modes in smartphones are never worth it, unless you are using a Peltier cooler and have battery bypass like Rog Phone does. Xiaomi does not need to update firmware update, just leave it on normal mode mate :)
3Dmark wildlife was run on normal mode and it will get that hot it will boot you out of the app and lag like crazy. But gaming normally it seems to be fine.
I'm not certain but this is happening for several years now where Xiaomi releases a new phone and it always benches well at the cost of heat and battery life. I want to know how good Gen 3 truly is like with restricted power budget that is equal to the iPhone.
you can't unless apple run on android or 8G3 run on IOS,. Apps are just run and optimised differently and so are the hardwares, pointless to compare both at same power.
Xiaomi uses Li-Po batteries which is a lower grade battery and the life span isn't great compared to Li-Ion. Add that with overheating issues and your have to take the longevity of the phone into question
The Geekbench reference across Android and iOS is nothing but BS. Because everyone with tech knowledge knows that Geekbench is more like Apple's favoured benchmark.
No it’s not, Apple’s custom architecture is just that good. This comment is just you whining that androids keep losing out to Apple in CPU performance 😂
the pace with which QC pumps out these chips, feels like the SD8G2 was just released a few weeks back, while still managing to achieve massive YoY gains (the gpu, wow) maybe Emulation is something that scales better with the additional performance provided
I would consider that pretty normal actually given how heavy these tests and games are . I own a Mi9t pro and it's performing pretty well in most games with its SD 855 except the more demanding ones like genshin impact and diablo immortal where I can't run high graphics. Now the thermals of the phone is pretty impressive for the size and price honestly. 15-20mins into the game phone gets pretty hot around 42°C mostly the screen and Camera region but after that their software magic kicks in and temps get more reasonable. I usually don't get affected by thermal throttling unless i play a heavy game for 2hrs continuously.
After global release Xiaomi will suffocate that cpu ))) Using Poco F5 Pro after 20 minute fps downing from 90 to 60 in Cod mobile))))Whatever Thank You For Video Boss!)
I had the xiaomi 12s with the 8+ gen 1 and it was not great, it heated up in games alot (but not as bad as 8 gen1). Later i got hold of the xiaomi 13 pro and the thermals were very good, gen 2 is the way.
Sold it, I got sick if the camera with that dark eyes and teeth problem in portraits Google hasn't fixed the issue and part if the reason I sold it is the Pixel community is so damn toxic they blamed me for the issues I was having!
I'm planning to buy a phone next year and if SD 8 gen 3 throttles, I'll settle for 8 gen 2 phones for efficiency. You don't notice the performance bump in native android games anyways
Probably 8 gen 2 is a safer route. Most of the 3nm chips are having overheating issues. Apple works longer with their chipsets and still experience the same thing. Xiomi only spent a couple of months since they got 8 gen 3 and released asap. It's going to be unoptimized and under tested.
GJ Chris 👍 If u get the opportunity, pls compare (as fairly and thoroughly as possible) top Snapdragon and Dimensity chips of last 2 or btr yet, 3 gens in a vid. Ty and GL
I hope Xiaomi can reduce the heat with the software support or maybe they'll use better cooling system for the global launch, i already know Samsung will handle this better for sure. also will you review the upcoming vivo x100 series?
samsung tends to run hotter whilst drain faster with slower charging with lower mAh. Funny enough OPPO/One Plus has always have the better cooling solution. In my finding; 1st is Oppo/Oneplus, Xiaomi 2nd, Samsung 3rd or fourth to Asus.
How come? I've seen a video on Technick channel where he is testing the Xiaomi 13 ultra and the galaxy s23 ultra throttling and battery efficiency While galaxy managed to be cooler than the xiaomi 13 ultra battery drain was pretty much the same. but there another video that you find on Techdroider channel where he is testing the battery between this 2 phone's and you find the galaxy s23 ultra winning
Yeah, so I currently live in China and I am using the 14 pro titanium version. There are a lot of people who are experiencing some overheating issues, but only if you have the 12 gigabyte version. The people here are saying that the ram management is not very good with the new chipset, especially if you have a 12 gb. For example, my device I have absolutely no problems. My phone doesn't overheat in any way possible. I am not an expert with these things, I don't know if it's definitely because of the ram management. 16gb seems to handle it well.
@@Techtablets Please do that for us, I think it would be interesting to see. But as for my device, I am used to using a galaxy s 23 ultra. i just switched over to this xiaomi last week. I play a lot of heavy games and my bachelor life, in fact, I have to be honest with you, my battery life on my xiaomi is better than my s23 ultra. i get about an hour and half longer screen time.
@@Techtablets The requirement of repeated testing is that after getting the new phone to update the latest system and use it intensively for three or four days, Xiaomi CEO Lei also suggested on Weibo that Xiaomi mobile phones, especially the Chinese version, will compile the system surface in the first three days, and since gen 3 does not support 32-bit programs, it is recommended that the app used be updated to the latest 64-bit version. There are about 3-4 friends around me who have bought a Mi 14 or Mi 14 pro, which is not hot at all.
The only phones that can handle that much power are ones with internal cooler such as Redmagic or Asus i have a Redmagic 8s pro and when i do the stress test i have a stability of 99.8% and score 5580 +- 10
My Xiaomi 14 overheats while Charging at night. Thanks to that my alarm doesn't ring in the morning wich means i was late at work multiple times because of it. I like this phone but this problem is very frustrating
Overheating during benchmarks and long- heavy gaming sessions is normal but does this happen during more day to day tasks like outdoor use under sun , when using cameras or randomly like pixel 6 used to ?
I have a Samsung s21 ultra, it hasn't aged well... I'm on a vacation and the phone is a huge disappointment. Was looking at the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.. it seems they have the same heating issue as s21 ultra @@Techtablets
HyperOS = MIUI 😂 nothing more nothing less, they just changed the name in the Settings (The same story happened to ColorOS with OxygenOS) A marketing strategy for new pigeons ! 😅
Xiaomi has excellent hardware but they lack in software IMO, my mi10T pro was faster than my S10+ but it always had software hiccups and unreliable connectivity which made me still use my S10+ as my daily driver
It's the same every year. We don't know about the thermals and performance until the global version comes out... But still, i would love to see a review of the Redmi K70/Poco F6 asap. Tnx
I was watching in You tube aprox 1 hour with my xiaomi 14;ulltra snd my phone like hell now !! F so hot !!! After I came to this video than..Im so angry and disappointed .
I would say so, the Xiaomi 13 pro's thermal management was really good compared to the 14 pro. You can really notice when filming 4k videos, the 14 pro gets too hot while the 13 pro doesn't. Overall 8 gen 2 is better in thermal management but it cannot outperform 8 gen 3 in terms of raw performance. BUT the main thing is that 8 gen 2 is already powerful enough that it can handle pretty much everything that you throw at it. You wouldn't really notice the performance difference between the two. So personally I'd go with 8gen2. And even 8+ gen 1 is still good enough for most games. But I don't recommend 8gen1.
Hey Tech, geekbench 6 should not be included, its a very bad benchmarking tool. For example it gives an a17pro a phone cpu 2900 for single core while an AMD 7950X which is a x86 cpu which can perform a more tasks, faster and more efficiently just gets 3000 on single core. For example their big brother the Apple M3 Max (which is not a phone cpu) on geekbench 6 gets 3000, similar to a 7950x? But on cinebench r20 the m3 max gets 496 on single core and the r7 7950 gets 782. This reflects a bit better the numbers. The apple M3 Max Its more comparable to a ryzen 4700 that gets the same single score than the m3 max (on single, on multi its another story). And the m3 max is quite superior to the a17 pro. So please the madness of using geekbench 6 should stop, its a terrible measuring tool. The geekbench benchmark is like using userbenchmarks are a reliable source.
Emulator testing would give a better indicator of what the extra horsepower can bring. My next will be another gaming phone, need that cooling. Hope we arent having another super hot Snapdragon.
@Techtablets Based on the last couple of years of handsets would agree, without the addition of an external cooling add-on nothing has really come close to Redmagic for sustained performance.
@@Techtablets Do you wait to test the phone after you get it, instead of using it intensively for 3-4 days and completing the compilation at the system level? I am a mifan and one of the first users to get the Mi 14 phone in CHINA. The process I experienced is that after 3-4 days of intense use, Mi 14's battery life and heat have been greatly improved, it can be said that playing games is not hot at all. If I am right, it is recommended that you test the battery life and heat of millet again after a few days of high-intensity use.
Compared to the SD8G3 launch by Qualcomm, the Xiaomi 14 Pro has been downclocked, so forget that level Qualcomm bragged about. This still needs some downclocking; Qualcomm is getting diminishing returns with the 4nm TSMC chip. Well, at least in Xiaomi. 3nm will bring better efficiency, but only when the N3E arrives (3nm gen-2), which is still a year away. Apple decided to go with 3nm gen-1, which was well advertised as being performant rather than efficient. It does mean that being gen-1, it will not be anywhere near as optimised as the 4nm gen-3 in the SD8G3, but it does mean Apple getting 18 months head start on optimising 3nm for the gen-2 N3P, which Qualcomm will not use as they are moving to Oryon. Benchmarks for bragging rights but meaningless for day-to-day performance, which is equitable and has been since the SD8G2. For most of us, over 60%, according to polls, that do not game on our phones, the GPU has been overkill for a while, and even for gamers, the CPU is being utilised more often now; hence, the GPU gains are nominal in respect of gameplay in many games. If Android had AAA console mobile games, I could see a benefit, but there is no sign that any of the games coming to the iPhone will be released on Android in the medium term. Samsung is rumoured to be in partnership with gaming devs to get the ball rolling, but it may take time. The short answer is that the SD8G3 is a tock upgrade in a 4nm tick-tock-tock cycle and if you have the SD8G2 you are probably not missing much.
Honestly aside from benchmarks bragging you aren't missing out on much. You don't notice this increase in day to day use or even gaming compared to the SD8Gen3. Sure coming from the Gen1 to Gen3 you will.
I'd like to see how it handles emulation personally, for me the benefit might be tangible enough in that use-case (providing some of the gaming phones get cooling down).
O shiet..😂 8gen3 the best... on draining battery. I know not all time but use 4/5g outside full brightness, open google maps, other background games apps. And the sot its close to s22ultra. Not s23u. S23u actually the best. I hope qualcomm and tsmc trying better efficient chip now, not power... Power its crazy good, but trottling and battery wearing hard usage apps games, camera, maps its crazy... i think 8gen 3 to 8gen2 same efficient. 8gen3 its like compare 11900k vs 13900k... not good. I choose 8gen2. Smartphone not must hard power processor, but efficient battery. Sorry for my english. 8gen3 hard usage draw about 40% more. Crazy... 😂 Soo... s23ultra can easy 6h sot recording 4k, but xiaomi? 3.5/4h?
When I had a Xiaomi 11 ultra it overheated to much and it messed up the wifi on my phone and the wifi completely stop working. I didn't bother putting Mobile service on the phone in the first place because i don't talk to a lot of people knowing how small my circle is but ever since I've been scared to buy Xiaomi phone at launch day now and now i just wait for it to go on a discount. I don't phones every year, i buy one good phone and hope it lasts me for a very long time until it brakes down on me. This is my first time experience with Xiaomi phone.
I think you might be one of the only reviewers that mention how hot and how much a device may start throttling more after most of the reviews for these new devices get released. Big respect for that! It seems that the Snapdragon Gen 3 is a capable chip, but also a big possibility that most phones still won't take full advantage of it. My ASUS Zenfone 10 with the Gen 2 maxes out at 38°C after an hour of genshin and 41°C at Wreckfest (both games at max settings, weirdly lowering the settings on Genshin doesn't seem to make any difference) With a Blackshark Game cooler it reduces it down usually around 4-8°C and that's whilst using a case. With me living in the UK with the room temperature only being around 21°C probably helps a lot.
I would rather have the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with this device. Bit cheaper, cooler en less energy usage.. don't game and even when I would more then fast enough! Or make 2 veriants from this phone, so you could pick.... That would be awsome, selecting your own preferences, like with front camera or not, resolution screen etc.
Personally I'd rather have a hot to the touch device then the ones who throttle from the get go like shamesung and apple.... And i don't game for hours like you, so my devices never really heats up like that....
what i wonder is why when they don't design a better heat management when they know that such a powerful chip is bound to cause thermal problems! Not just xiaomi samsung and apple too...@@Techtablets
We already at the peak of technology. Nothing new even this new chips by android or iphone, you cant really tell the performance speed from 3 years ago technology. Just minimal seconds. Same technology.
Its chinese version of the phone, of course it will heat more, on Feb 26 it will be available Globally but only non Pro version and since it has same CPU you can test it again and I'm sure it will be much more optimized
There will be no Global for the 14 Pro, only 14 non pro. It will have smaller size 6.4" 1.5k resolution and 4500mAh battery, everything else (cpu, cameras, hyperOS) are the same
hi Chris... been awhile and I thought you would stop reviewing their units, hahaha but your effort here means how you love your work to inform us of what this can phones can do thanks mate a fan from the Philippines

You bought at a wrong time. Mi 11 ultra including other flagships at the time( s21 ultra, etc..) use snapdragon 888 which is one of the worst chips in history. It's not entirely xiaomi's fault for that part.
Is this happend on Pro model only or both.?? Because i recently watch another video review of basic 14 model said there is no throthling at all and quite low temps than previous gen chipset
The video i was watiting for, did SDGen3 heating like SDGen1 was 👌🏻 What about battery life because on my Xiaomi 12 afther last update is terible... To be honest, SD Gen2 is already powerful enough. My opinion is, Xiaomi GameTurbo dosent work like they should be if you compare some other phones wich similar option, or some CPU's/GPU's on Xiaomi devices simpli are not optimised, they just realising simple aplication to bust CPU clocks to the max and give you some extra features and that is it.. I was testing a lot GameTurbo on Xiaomi devices and was always much better performance on cheaper phones, no hot, no lags, better battery managements, better frame rate etc...
