Good feedback - on ultraportables note that those are closer to $1k and beyond. We elected for the honorable mentions of touring and air since they have similarities with the Xiaomi while adding value in key dimensions. Ultraportable is a totally different dimension. As for the f series, we’ve tested it and don’t find it as compelling as the E22 for example which is one of our favorite entry level scooters of all time (featured prominently in our big best cheap scooters video) but few people know about. Segway has some very interesting launches coming this year so stay tuned!

@@JAHDUBProductions yeah Niu already have a proven reputation for high build quality and excellent value from their mopeds. If you want something with just that little bit more climbing power but not as expensive as unagi (and a bit more grunt than unagi also) consider the Inmotion Climber. It's 42v dual motor

They are still very popular in Europe. M365 is an old version, the upgraded one is called 1s now. The entry level version is “Essential” (same motor, but 5100mah battery and speed is limited to 20km/h), then it’s “1s”, then it’s “3” (350w motor and 7800mah batt.) and “pro2” (350w motor and 12800mah battery). I have an Essential and I think that it’s the best choice out of 4. Very solidly built, easily upgradable and only one out of the range where you can easily remove speed limit and build a custom software whatever you like.

Yes! We’ve heard a lot from retailers/brands about their ongoing existence in Europe. Since the global market is skewed toward US first then CA/AU/UK second and europe third, we skew our coverage toward these markets. I think they may have made the decision to pull Xiaomi scooters out of the US market and stick with Segway there, which comes out of the same factory and part owned by Xiaomi. I disagree with your assessment that "the global market is skewed towards US first". For you that would be true because you are IN the US. And it's fine that your coverage of the escooter market is US-focused because that's where you are. But let that be the reason.

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide the major thing why I fell in Love with my Xiaomi scooter is tuning. It's so easy to upgrade it and there are tons of tuning kits available for m365 and other models. For instance, when I bought my Essential, even before the first test drive, I've uploaded a custom software and removed the 20km/h speed limiter. Then it was the additional battery, Monorim suspension, 350w motor, hydraulic brake, etc. etc. etc. It became bigger and heavier, but still very portable, under 16kg. And it rides very smooth on 10" tires with a top speed of 38km/h :)) Best city commuter!

@@JamesFaction Hi James, we're speaking of purely quantitative global sales numbers when we talk about the US first then UK/CA/AU - all objective data here. Europe is much better than the US in terms of whole host of transportation and city-formation issues and methods though--much to learn. But in terms of search volumes/sales volumes it isn't close. - Chase

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide ok I think there may be some misunderstanding here. I thought "first" meant that models show up in the US first, which often isn't true. New models are often seen in places like Europe and even NZ before they make it to the US.

The M365 are still going strong i think at least where i am from. i have the first pro version from the summer of 2019 and i have done over 8,5km on it parts and mods you can find everywhere they cheap and great for what they are for the price. p.s. lol Paul throwing the macwheel pro in the trash never gets old!! great video like always! :)

Anything with solids are good, trust me, save yourself a head ache. I can highly reccomend varla pegasus. I have over 1000 miles on mine still going strong. Wide tires are geeat for cracks and small debree as well! These scoots are cool but those tires will get you in trouble if they lock in a crack or crevice.. Also this guy did a great job on this segment, I love seeing his as he is a favorite, more specials with him would be great!

the Varla Pegasus is hugely heavy. I reckon the Hiley Tiger 8 is a much better scooter, I have ridden both. The Varla is very pretty, i like its look. It's just a shame it's as heavy as a Dualtron Eagle or a Mantis Pro, much faster scooters.

@@JamesFaction Yea thats true, but at least the frame and build quality is good minus the cheap 3d printed fenders. Im heavy @ 215 and it still hits 29 mph! I just love the wide solid tires and dual hubs! Wish the deck was a bit longer tho.

I've had my xioami pro for 3 years now and its still going strong, the range hasnt changed at all and the only issues ive had are a few flats but I still love it.

I have the M365 Pro, the 1S, and most recently a KuKirin M4. At my size (6'1/185cm; 102kgs/225#), I needed the M4's 48V/500W rear motor-driven torque/power. The M4 is great for hilly areas (10-15 degree inclines) and commutes (12.5AH battery), and was only CHF440 (~US$500; delivered price) plus CHF31 import duties. Absolutely no regrets buying that M4. I have been able to take it on commutes a total of 2 hours and it will go ~ 33KM (modes 1 and 2, only) on a full charge (from 54V down to 42V). Off road...I've clocked it in Mode 3 at 45kmph; flat surface, GPS speed validated, no wind (as both directions had same result), and ambient temp @ 26C. As for my trusty M365 Pro (unlocked)...upgraded the front fork to dual shock suspension for about $50. Replaced the stock controller with a new V3 model ($30). SLIME for both front and rear tubes. Silicone sealant for the batt compartment baseplate. Did the same for the 1S as for the M365 Pro (above)...and flashed custom firmware to improve power delivery on its 300W front hub motor. I am considering a 350W or 500W motor upgrade for the 1S, with solid honeycomb tire...will see if the current upgrades and modded firmware suffice for my youngest teen. If 500W, then also split rim 10 inch tire for the rear, as well. Parts are CHEAP and readily available on AliEx. MANY mods and upgrades are available.

Xiaomi makes many more versions of their electric scooter than the 4 pro. they also make the 1S, pro 2, 3 and "essential". These are all based on the same platform as the m365 and many of the fun accessories will work with them as well.

I have a Freego es08s v1.9 since 2019, it is fast, has suspension and a cool light. It was incredible cheap. The cons: It is not sold anymore

Well I can see solid tires would be wanted, but for those with nerve damage or arthritis solid tires are a death trap. I want the runflat air tires. Any ride with that already installed is my winner. Suspension wouldnt hurt either. Kerping it street legal is ok too.

Is the S2 Pro worth the extra $150 over the S2 (S2 is on sale on Amazon for $300, the Pro is on sale for $450)? The only difference is it’s motor is more powerful: 500 watt vs 350 watt, the wheels are larger 10” vs 8.5” and the max distance 25 miles vs 17 miles. I’m leaning towards the S2, but I don’t want to regret not spending the extra $150. Also, the Gotrax G4 is on sale for $450. Between the three which is the best value for the price?

I wanted to like vset8, its fast comfortable but those damn drum brakes are a nightmare almost got me killed more than once. Im expecting vset 9 to be much better at braking. I do enjoy the d6 2.0 but again had hydraulic brake failure in the rear. Then they where out of stolk and couldnt replace it. Really wanted full on dydro brakes...

@@niteblaster1 Technically I don't like the inmotion S1 and the price difference S1 @ AU$1,500 to the Pro 2 @ AU$850. Both scooters have the same battery capacity and the inmotion has a 500w motor, so not sure where you get the idea the inmotion is better or that the Pro 2 will beuncompetitive.

The best alternative to an m365 is the pro (currently pro2) version. It weighs less than half of these shit scooters form the video, but offers a greater range. So it's a win win situation.

At some point the music should fade out, it almost overpowers the audio and makes 2x watching worse since the music just keeps going the whole time

Thanks for the heads up. I’m really sorry that we wasted your time like that. I don’t know how the 275lb weight limit ended up in the video. It’s correct at 220lbs on our database. I’ll see if we can add a note on screen with a correction. You’re right. Weight spec is 220lbs and battery size of the Classic is now 259Wh. We had a higher number for Watt hours in the database, so it must have changed at some point. The Unagi Voyager on the other hand is 360Wh. -Paul
