This one solves the issue with the Cuban Crafters cutter with the back plate of having a high risk to pinch fingers that aren't being used in the cutting operation. The CC version can easily clip a little chunk out of your ring finger when cutting a cigar. To further improve this one, adding finger grooves on the sides would improve the ergonomics.
The droplet (or winged as I call it) cutter is excellent for this purpose. If you have a flat surface, you can cut a cigar perfectly without hardly watching what you're doing. If you don't have access to a flat surface, you use the backplate version. Xikar isn't a particularly good brand, but the winged cutters are excellent because getting perfect cuts every time effortlessly is a pretty big deal. You can do this with some other cutters as well, but not as handily.
