xikers Tricks Video Editor with ‘Tricky House’ 

KQ is just GENIUS when they choose a concept, Pirates for ateez and goblin for Xikers is just 👌🏻✨✨

The fact that Captain Hongjoong was a part of each and every song in the album in writing and production makes me happy! Those kids are talented and Hongjoong is a master! KQ doesn't play around with its groups! bravo

For those that don't understand the video: In Korean, the title is Dokkaebi House. Dokkaebi (Korean goblins) are nature spirits/gods that can inhabit objects and have special powers. They can be mischievous and can also be helpful. They're associated with blue flame, so it may be that the blue flames around the man in some shots are the members in their natural form. A lot of the lyrics are actually from Korean kids songs about goblins. The guy won prizes and money cause that's what Goblins give you.

Thank you for doing this debut reaction!! Just to help you out a bit, their name is pronounced like “psych-ers” although I don’t completely understand the meaning behind it 😅 and I saw Andy and Jas talk about this video and how it’s actually called “Goblin House” in Korean and the premise of goblins is that if you are on their good side, only good things will come to you (money, cars, fun) but if you are on their bad side well, you don’t want to be on a goblins bad side to say the least! And in this video, Xikers concept is that they are goblins and if you are on their side, good things will come your way, you’ll have some good music and a fun time. I like your interpretation too!! I just wanted to add some context I found super helpful too!

goblins aren’t inherently bad like you’re saying. they’re just tricksters and mischievous. you might say this helped the businessman by pulling him out of his boring routine and showing him how to be human again. basically showing him his dream for him.

I am so incredibly proud of Xikers. KQ has done an incredible job of making sure their idols are ready. I saw them at the Chicago show and I was blown away.

Another Reaction video talked about how deokkabi in Korean folklore are goblins who just want to play. If you play with them, they’ll reward you. If you don’r, they’ll play tricks on you. So the many toys, money and gifts like the car was what he was winning. But I think that the concept set around them telling us “if you stick with us, we’ll reward you greatly” which is such a cool concept for their debut.

This is why I love Ateez, KQ and now Xikers; there's always a deeper meaning to the music and the mv. You can make sick shots for a mv, but it's just so much more powerful when there is more meaning behind it. Same goes for lyrics etc.!

Minjae the leader said that "Xikers is the combo of the x coordinate and hikers, it means they will travel through eternal time and coordinates"

I had the exact same reaction, I had no idea what was going on but I absolutely LOVED IT. Since I didn't know what to expect, every edit/vfx/transition/etc left me SHOOK. Also the rickroll had me rolling 😂😂😂 Xikers is pronounced "saikers", which is the combination of x and "hikers." I believe the lore is that the members are travelling (or "hiking") through time and space in search of coordinates, hence the X. The coordinates represents their dreams/goals/purpose in life. GUYS CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG KQ LORE IN GENERAL CONFUSES ME 😭 Anyway, thank you for your reaction, I always love hearing your thoughts on the MVs and your jokes ahahah ❤

They literally made an absolutely super dope concept for their debut on how they were goblins that will fulfil all of your dreams and reward you nicely if we stick with them

From what i understand these korean goblins love to 'play' or maybe tricking on THE person they chose play with. Goblins would give you good stuff if you play with them and gosh you just dont wanna be on their bad side. So that business man was the one chosen by xikers to play with them and then how him at the beginning of the mv seems lost but he looked more sober after playing with the goblins WHICH IS SO CLEVER OF KQ TO HAVE AMAZING LORE FRO THEIR GROUPS 😭

Xikers are coming for a title in 4th gen. They already hit 100k sales of their album within a WEEK, they have such a bright future ahead of them I’m so excited to see more!!

I really like their concept it just has so much future potential for storytelling. This song also pulls lyrics from children’s songs about Korean goblins.

Hongjoong from Ateez actually participated in the producing and writing their whole album.

Dokaebbi aren’t always bad news. They are mischievous and can be helpful too. Basically if they choose you, you have to play and dance with them and if you do they give you good fortunes (the crane machine winnings, the car). If you don’t play with them they give you misfortunes. This guy is playing with them and having the time of his life though he’s exhausted. At the end, the dokaebbi turn into brooms and the guy plops down from how tired he is.

Even as a non-editor, there were some transitions and edits that made me go, "Cool!" (the spin, the cell phone, the clothing - you'll know them when you see them). I think you'd appreciate it on an even deeper level.

honestly, i enjoyed the M/V even tho i had no idea wth was going on lmao but the whole chaos going is understandable - KQ put out a good lore for their first group and they're continuing the story of recent comebacks, so I *know* to wait for further explanations because they're good with tales, i just need it detailed and gathered for me by others lmao

the thing with Dokkaebi is that they are goblins that want to play with humans and when the human do play with them they gain good luck however when they don't that is when they are bad news as they will torment you. Jordan, I love when you show us how you would've done the shot! This was great and I learned a lot. 100% my take: According to what I've read, dokkeabi can be mischievous or helpful, so I believe while it looks like they're being mischievous, they're being mischievous in a helpful way. The man is working so late that no one is left on the subway by the time he leaves work. He looks stuck in the daily grind of life. In the first chorus, they say, "Let's dance together. Let's play together. Don't fall asleep.", so I think exposing him to music, the arcade, dancing, and the carnival is their attempt to help him remember what it feels to enjoy life again. At the end of the bridge, they say, "Tell me what you want. Tell me what you need." and a car appears. I think they gave him what they sensed he wanted. The man smiles ear to ear as he drifts around the parking lot. Minjae's last words are "don't forget." This could have double meaning: 1) "Don't forget" it's our time now (we've debuted). 2) "Don't forget" to have fun and enjoy your life (within the context of the MV and maybe to us as well). I think they left when they felt they had accomplished their mission. So, the underlying meaning may be if you listen to xikers music/spend time with us you'll enjoy your life more. Finally, because goblins are known to inhabit household items like tools and brooms, the brooms surrounding him at the end are likely proof he hadn't been dreaming--he had actually encountered 10 goblins. X, when placed at the beginning of a wordi, is often pronounced as the Z sound in English, like xylophone. Korean doesn't have a Z sound. In the case of xikers, the Z sound is replaced with ss--ssaikos. Most people are pronouncing it with an S sound (sikers/psychers) because that's how they hear the members pronounce it, but zikers is also a reasonable English pronunciation.

Digipedi is INCREDIBLY good at what they do. They have directed almost every video of Loona up until Flip that and some of them are just beautiful and artistic with insane thought and editing. My favorites from them are Why Not?, Butterfly, and Eclipse. You should check them out one day!!
