Undoubtedly a useful bit of kit, if only for the fact there's no mixing of chemicals. Great at treating large areas quickly and in a little over 2 mins you can alter the ratios. I back my pressure right off which gives better control against over spray but would never look to spray dangerous chemicals above head height. Ive also increased the length of those, much better to use. Take a look at the mods on RU-vid will probably do this sometime soon.

Well done Phill you tell it as it is, no BS here! Like you I always doubted the ratio but enough time and bucket tests you might get somewhere near. Think I read most yanks run it without a proportioner hitting somewhere round 5% softwash mix or hot mix as they say lol. I think the guy from prestige pressure washing has a good technique holding the drum as he goes round and I think he was saying he puts his washer on bearly tick over. As you say It's a great tool for large areas. Not sure but read somewhere to much chemical hose affects the draw of the venturi 🙄. Anyway great upload Phill thanks for taking the time out to put it together m8. Cheers M

Brilliant piece of kit Phil I've used one a few times I have an Injector from Savi pressure washers Ltd but as you said it runs Hypo through you hoses and guns it don't go through the pump at least

The main issue with hypo is it will start to corrode the steel ends of the hose. It will also turn brass black and shitty looking.

I’ve been using one of these for the last year or so, I drop my pressure washer revs right down to just over tick over, I use a 1 metre hose with pvc pipe over the hose to stop it curling up in the hypo tub and carry it, and I use the beige proportioner, I get good results and don’t over use hypo, the only time I change the proportioner to black is if it is heavily infected with lichen
@DirtyDriveAway
@DirtyDriveAway 3 года назад
The problem I was told if yohnlower the revs down too far is the flow rate drops below that of the installed jet. In my case 19-25lpm I believe. I was told if I drop the revs too low it won't suck up the required amount of hypo resulting in inaccurate mix strength. Its a good tool but nowhere near as accurate as a proper dosing unit.
@craighunnam3909
@craighunnam3909 3 года назад
@@DirtyDriveAway agreed it’s not the most accurate but like you say it’s fast! I forgot to mention when I ordered it I chose the lower proportioner inside the Xjet because of concerns of the rate it would get through hypo, my machine is 21lpm and to be honest it works really well at low revs and it was a case of trial and error finding the right proportioner, great in depth review 👍🏼👍🏼
@DirtyDriveAway
@DirtyDriveAway 3 года назад
@@craighunnam3909 yeah after getting mine and the speaking with the supplier they said you can order the next jet down if need be. I thought typical why not mention that at the time lol. Even on 19lpm it chucks it down a bit too fast, ideally I would like it around 15lpm. All in a good tool and it's fast which in itself could be a better sacrifice over the saved time.

We have just purchased one of these have 355sqm of Indian sandstone to clean covered in black spot. Hope it pays off !
@DirtyDriveAway
@DirtyDriveAway 2 года назад
It doesn't apply it strong enough to remove black spot. Black spot lichen needs a pretty strong dose of chemical which depending on what machine your using this x jet doesn't mix high enough. I've never been able to remove black spot with it as I can only get 3:1 mix which is no where near strong enough. On a really low powered machine of around 7litres a min you'll still only get just under 1:1. You may shift a few with that but any well established spores probably won't go.

Great Video. Love the quick release set up for the hypo drum. I’m going to order this and knock up the same set up with the drum. Any chance you could let me know what parts I need to build it please?
@DirtyDriveAway
@DirtyDriveAway Год назад
You need to weld a stainless tube onto a stainless 1/4"bsp male to hose barb. The threaded section is put through a drilled hole in the drum lid. You can then attach a quick release coupling to the drum cap. It has to be stainless or it will rust/corrode due to the chem.

@@DirtyDriveAway Thank you appreciate that. I bought a less expensive x-jet a while ago. Max-jet from Max-flow it’s pretty much the same but when I put down the Hypo it does foam like in your video. Do you mix it with anything or is that just the xjet?
@DirtyDriveAway
@DirtyDriveAway Год назад
@William Wilson yes it needs a bleach safe surfactant in order to foam. Hypo doesn't foam by itself as it shouldn't have anything in it.

@paulcampbell6316 2 года назад
Won't you need a vent hole, or does it work without one? Also, could you not just use an adjustable foamer ?
@DirtyDriveAway
@DirtyDriveAway 2 года назад
I have several vent holes in the lid. Depends if the foamer and connections your putting it through are chemical resistant. If you mean downstreaming then typically things like the hose connections, trigger assemblies etc aren't chemical resistant. Brass turns black and mild steel corrodes under the chem strength. By the time you've switched all the components it comes into contact with for stainless steel it will work out a lot more expensive then the xjet. I think a stainless chem injector foamer from the likes of suttner are several hundred pounds alone, and even then I'm not entirely sure they have viton seals in them to handle strong hypo. They can handle regular chem like detergents and traffic film removers etc but don't think they can take oxidising chemicals like hypo without modification.

Hi Phil, 8 months later how are you finding it? I have purchased one also, and was wondering the exact same thing with reducing pressure. I was however advised to always run my p/washer at full revs (Honda GX390 engine) and always adjust the unloader….but to my mind that will then just adjust flow rate and ratio. Do you risk any engine damage by reducing revs? Many thanks
@DirtyDriveAway
@DirtyDriveAway 2 года назад
The 390 engine is actually quite a small motor. If your running the 200bar at 21 pump that motor is maxed out trying to run it. The 390 doesn't fair up well to too much throttle adjustment as it just makes the engine struggle. You can have a small amount of play with it but from experience it prefers 3/4 to full throttle to be happy. Its why they suggest using the unloader to back pressure/flow rate off. To reduce the flow rate you need to either lower the RPM or back off the unloader. However the unloader should only be played with if you know what your doing and can reset it to the correct pressure after. Its where a gauge comes in very handy especially on the K1 unlloader. I have control valves on my machine so I can lower the flow rate right down to pretty much 5LPM if I wanted too, without touching the unloader. By using my valves I can run my machine at full throttle but reduce the flow and pressure with the xjet to around 60bar and 12lpm which is much more controllable. You do have to fit a smaller internal jet size in the xjet to keep the suction. With the 390 motor if you reduce the revs too much it puts the engine under a lot more strain and it works harder so thus can cause damage over the long term. Now a bigger motor wouldn't have the same issue as it has more horsepower. I find the xjet a very good tool now I have it dialled in.

@DirtyDriveAway

@@DirtyDriveAway brilliant, I'll give it a go. I've just been using SH on my block paving and it's not really shifting the black spots. I know it's 11% but surely that would be enough to clean it up? Thanks Phil, I appreciate your help.
@DirtyDriveAway
@DirtyDriveAway 3 года назад
@@strongteee so many factors with black spot lichen. 1. How long the spores have been there. 2. How old your hypo is (has a half life of about 4months) 3. Are you mixing the hypo down? 4. How long your letting it sit/work for. Usually needs at least 1-2hrs on tough lichen. A fresh batch of 11% used neat shoul kill off most spore.

@@DirtyDriveAway I agree, it is a bit to powerful for most houses. I am a yank as well! I just use a j rod, and I alternate the tips for a more concentrated spray or a fan tip. X jets are expensive in the U. S. as well, about $170 for the kit. I prefer the j rod because I have more control over the pressure. You can purchase the j rod tips to match the GPM of your pressure washer or jet washer. I am sure you have heard of the j rod, however. I just thought I would interject.
