Great videos bro I was sceptical about the single ring but you got it right 100% I want to get the XLT 450 and considered the D5 buggy but the hardware on the XLT seems way better but I'm concerned about the overheating problem no one else mentions it so not sure if they just promoting Rovan and I also noticed Mr Thunder RC always throws in a Taylor GT 46 which is easy if you have plenty $$$'s but I like 2 strokes and they nor hard to modify I had the RD 350 lc and ypvs many years ago so I'm not scared to open it up and do some porting and the single ring mod and maybe a better pipe that doesn't brake !!! Please post a full update of all the mods once you done as I'm set on the Rovan it's the best brap for my bucks as I'm in Cape Town South Africa and the rand to dollar is steep so I'd rather get the Rovan and do the mods and maybe later look at another engine upgrade !!! Thank you for your kind words. So I have an update on this project. I sent this engine to a friend of mine chefbeardsly. He has it in his billet baja. The XLT I have traded away to my friend wade from SRE customs. He has a rovan 71cc that he modified in it. You can see it on his channel “sre rc customs”. You are on the right track with the rovan being best bang for the buck. As far as reliability? I would grab the D5 buggy or the 30°N “losi 5ive” clone. My honest opinion is this XLT takes a lot to get right. Thank you for watching I appreciate your support.
Do you still think or recommend that 71cc pipe over the stock one? Trying to find me a sweet spot with the lt450. On a budget of course. Could i drop that head with the stock set up. Which gear ratio do you think would give higher speeds? I apologize for the bombardment of questions, but im eager for the opinions & knowledge...
Yes this pipe is 100% better than the stock one. As far as gearing I did not mess with it too much I ended up trading the truck to a friend. Do you have the XLT with the MT tires or the LT short corse?
Short corse, single ring. Just put the 58t 30° N center diff in, wish i had known to change that number for a higher top end speed im more a basher than a racer if that helps you see where im trying be, 19t pinion.
@@johnsonjohns6328 In this video it is running a 19t pinion which was stock in this truck. Unfortunately the 45 isn’t much for top end that 71 pipe will help a lot though
Man that thing is moving how much does your truck weigh I’m looking for something for my kraken vekta that’s why im looking at wades monster 45 I think they are a engine that is slept on but I have seen a few on RU-vid that are custom modified I missed out on the rovan bartalone colab I’m confident that wades will be on point
I’m not sure on exact weight but this is not a SRE engine. I ported this myself. I am hoping wades engine is the answer. It has to weight at least 50+ pounds
What going on Mr. Wade. This is my test spot I go to and where I run my Baja’s. In the first running video of this XLT is where I will be running this over jumps. That is why I’m looking for torque and not speed.
