I know that you could dive in FIFA Road to The World Cup 98 but I don't know if they kept that option in. If you did it correctly you might get a free kick but I think you could get a yellow card / sent off if you mistimed it.

Luke: I don't want Fifa because I can't play Fifa. Gets NBA, which he's never played, understands even less, and can't be bothered to figure out the buttons. I love watching them play and comment on sports games they don't understand, like the time Mike had a Madden challenge. Mike: Incomplete pass! The pass was incomplete, Jane! Jane: Yes, Mike. I see the ball on the ground.

@@1utube01 Modern defense is quite a bit different than what it was before the mid-2010s, but saying that teams nowadays don't play it is fairly inaccurate. Instead, it's adapted to various changes, in some part due to officiating rules that prioritize scoring, but IMO the primary reason is today's emphasis on 3-point shooting. If you have 4 or 5 reliable shooters on offense, then the old paint-packing strategy doesn't make sense anymore because now you have to tightly guard everyone on the perimeter, which in turn means that off-ball screens and cuts will have more space to operate, leading (somewhat paradoxically) to more layups and dunks, which might lead people to assume that defenses are lazy. That's pretty far from the case, as defenses try to mitigate against that by switching everybody, meaning that tall players are often expected to be creditable perimeter defenders (meaning contesting jump shots AND preventing drives/funneling towards help defense) -- defenders on the best teams tend to be athletic AND mobile AND engaged AND smart AND tall.

I've loved basketball my whole life, yet I think I'd somehow love it more if the games consisted of defensive players constantly falling down, seven-footers chucking up half-court threes and being baffled why they don't go in, and commentary about jersey kerning.

'What's with the kerning on Drexler's name?' is the best commentary I've ever heard in a basketball game. Clearly you guys know what's important, ie nothing basketball related. Honestly, though, as a fan... well, not a fan... as someone who really liked basketball for a few years in high school when NBA Jam was huge... this was hilarious.

I am just now finding out that Red Panda (the woman on the unicycle) is in NBA 2K. She is a heck of a performer. No one catches bowls on her head while riding a unicycle better than her.

I love that Andy gave us the authentic experience of sitting in the stands next to a way too excited fan shouting nonsense. I laughed so hard at that and Luke shouting brand names. Whoever edited this, good job. It captured the experience they were having of the game taking too long with all the fouls without it getting boring.

My grandma was a huge Phoenix Suns fan, whose mascot was, of course, a gorilla! The mascot would do amazing stunts during the breaks, as well as the usual break time entertainment of nifty pet tricks, dance routines, rifle drills, circus acts... I can see how people not used to basketball break entertainment would think it's all fever-dream lies.

@@mar_speedman it's the same as intentionally falling over in soccer. it's called flopping, you basically try to exaggerate the contact your opponent made against you in order to get a foul called against them and get the ball back.
