Question for you please, How much distance is there between the gas tank and engine ? And is the gas tank bolted directly to the engine with brackets or bolted to the frame ? Does it get hot or warm under your seat compartment storage area ?
Hi Alex! Are you in Portugal? I just spent two weeks there on a 750 GS... had a fabulous time. I am interested in an XMAX here in the States and I was curious about maintenance which is how I came across you video. Obrigado (as I have another glass of port....).
One of the key factors that makes a spark plug work well, or not, is the size of the gap between the electrodes. If the gap is too small, the spark will likely be too weak and cause the engine to run poorly or with poor efficiency. If it's too big, the spark might not jump at all. Here's one cool tip: Credit cards are 0.8 mm thick, the exact spark plug gap you need to set... Rude safe!
É pasta de cobre. Impede que, com o passar do tempo e oxidação, os parafusos fiquem presos. É conhecido por "copaslip" ou "anti-seize". Em alguns pontos é imprescindível, noutros... nem tanto.
...and on many other bikes. No gain whatever. Iridium plugs are great for their longevity. On some bikes where getting to the plugs is a lot of work then yes, go for the iridium plugs. On the Xmax don't bother. Changing the sparkplug is a 10 minute job.

Eu uso velas de iridium há anos em meus carros e realmente não aumenta o desempenho, porém faz com que o motor trabalhe em menor rotação com consequente diminuição do consumo, o que pra mim já vale o investimento. Recebi um retorno da própria NGK e a referência é LMAR8BI-9. Descobri também a vela de Rutenium, que eu nunca havia ouvido falar, no site da Yamaha Japão. O código desta última é LMAR8ADX-9S... Muito obrigado por todos os seus vídeos de manutenção da moto!
Mas... Se trabalha em menor rotação a velocidade é menor, daí a diferença em consumo. Repara, quem tem energia é o combustível, não a vela. A grande vantagem das velas de iridium é a longevidade. Em aplicações onde mudar velas é um trabalho longo e difícil compensa claramente. Na Xmax 300 trocar a vela é trabalho para 5 minutos.
@@bikesmith Eita, eu talvez não saiba explicar. Quando você instala velas de Iridium nitidamente o motor trabalha com menos esforço. O barulho do motor diminui e foi isto que eu referi como diminuir a rotação... Se o motor faz menos esforço consome menos já que nós andamos a maior parte do tempo em baixas velocidades... Mas é uma questão de opinião mesmo. Sempre funciona nos carros, em moto nunca testei.
Olá, saudações do Brasil \o/, vou comprar minha X-max daqui uns dias e já estou assistindo para fazer algumas melhorias nela quando chegar, usarei Vela de Iridium Ngk, e foi bom assistir seu vídeo pois eu não sabia onde ficava a vela no motor =]. Qual liquido usa para limpeza do bau ao final do video ?
