The X-Maxx is actually a 1/6 scale. The Kraton is closer to 1/6 but because of the width is a 1/5. The DBXL-E is the only true 1/5 scale as it's dimensions are all literally 1/5th the size of an actual desert buggy.
My brother has a kraton 6s blx v5, the diffs are very weak. It is constantly stripping gears, breaking pins, out shafts breaking. He's getting to the point where he's tired of spending money to fix it. I would say he's rebuilt the rear and center at least 5 times each and the front maybe 2-3 times and he's used upgraded parts, which hasn't helped. The bad part is, it's less than 3 months old. He either got a defective one or arrma's quality sucks. Now I on the other hand have the dbxl-e 2.0, it hasn't been all good either. The spektrum servo broke within 10 mins of the 2nd run. The spektrum esc was faulty from the factory. Had a bearing go out in the rear diff, which damaged the housing. Now for the stuff I actually broke, left front lower control arm, steering knuckle rod, left rear sway bar connecting rod, left rear shock top connecting cap, rear wing ( destroyed).
Wow dude, that is not a good experience at all! They all break from our abuse sooner or later, but to be perfectly honest I have not had a tougher truck than the Traxxas Maxx.
True words. It's part of the hobby. Just depends on your personal preference... do you like to build and repair more or is your aim to drive... I'm a car mechanic but still I enjoy driving much more and be happy if nothing major breaks... And I just can agree the xmaxx is really strong Had a baja 5b before and some smaller 1/10 and the xmaxx is definitely the best of all of them. Great allrounder and pretty reliable if you're not trying to break it all the time
@@melv889 I wasn't trying to break it, just tend to hit things if they are within eye sight lol. But I've learned and haven't crashed in quit awhile lol.
It is easy to work on, but the problem I have is waiting on parts. No hobby shops within 300 miles of me carries parts for it. So everything has to be ordered online which becomes a waiting game.
