Host Jason Stein met with Tan Wang, Vice President of Xpeng Aerhoht to get a sneak peak at their flying car prototype at the 2024 consumer electronics show in Las Vegas.
So its a DJI Mavic with a car under it. Can you imagine how much louder life would be with these quad copters flying around? And also the danger of horrible "drivers" falling on your house...smh
I like the concept, but still need work. First thing that jumps out at me is that those propellers are way too accessible and dangerous. Second, I just don’t see a day where everyone owns one of these and you have thousands of them flying around. I can maybe see an Uber service doing it though and this service will be for larger distances around a large city.. regular cars will handle shorter distances.
"I can maybe see an Uber service doing it though and this service will be for larger distances around a large city." Maybe we could have designated places to park cars near those larger cities, then larger groups of people could board these "flying cars" to their destination. I know, we can call them airports, and we could simplify the name "flying car" and call them airplanes. Yeah, I think that'd work.
These motors and props look too small to be able to lift a 1.5tonn in to the air I recon, would want to see it flying to believe it. Good concept but not realistic with the current materials which we have.
This will never happen. Not in the next few decades at the very least. Just think of all the regulatory nightmares, the safety nightmares. A whole new system of transit is going to be required, introducing a whole new plane/dimension of travel. Think about the power lines that will be nicked by people in these. Think about the decapitations, my God! Notice there is no mention of how this insanely heavy vehicle (yes, even in carbon fiber) will be powered? Wheres the fuel tank or the GIGANTIC battery pack for this flight capable vehicle going to go? SO many questions. Come on people, it's NOT possible. Surely that's obvious to you all, no??
