This is pretty standard procedure for companies to do this to save face, after allegations. They then will do an investigation and if no wrongdoing is found, they will bring back whoever. Plus i dont know his position but assuming hes high up, he prolly had a choice to not step down unless its a board. So it was prolly his own choice, and this is a bit insider baseball, BUT IF theres no wrong doing or this is a gross over exaggeration, him stepping down could lead to a far larger pay out in the courts if he sues for defamation even if he returns to his game studio But yknow what you thought was wayyyy more simple to think up, and i imagine youre not great at thinking about anything complicated
