did they send this machine to you for free so that you would do a review?

Yes. I have reviewed a couple of the Xtool lasers. Their requirements are pretty simple. We have to put the model of the laser in the title. We have to mention the product in the review and we have to put links to the product in the title. Also, the links are affiliate links so we make commission on the sales. They do not tell us how to review the product. Obviously there is some pressure to stay in their good graces but if you want your viewers to keep coming back for more reviews you have to be honest. I try my best to be honest. My rule is that if I don’t like the product I just don’t review it.

Steve, my wife hates it when I do any lasering in our house. Do you have a foolproof way to cut down on the odor from the burning wood? I don't have a good place outdoors to set it up so I want to be able to use my office/hobby room. It's sort of my man cave indoors. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for all you do for the hobby of lasers and scrollsaws.

If you have a diode laser then make sure you have it in an enclosure with a strong exhaust fan. The CO2 lasers are already enclosed but sometimes the fan provided is not strong enough. On my China Blue laser, I took out the included fan and put a strong inline fan in the exhaust hose. That helped but if your wife is sensitive to the fumes then you may never get the exhaust strong enough. My wife is upstairs and still tells me she smells the fumes. I can't smell them so I guess it is different for different people. My next step is to add an air purifier near the exhaust window. Not sure it will make a difference but it is worth a try. The laser fume filters on the market are expensive and the replacement filters are costly as well. I may give that a try someday but right now I want to try other options to see if they work first.

The unit can be shipped in either 110v or 220v. I am not sure what the shipping cost is but all the details can be found from the link in the description.

The basketball cats looked really good in the Canadian tournament. I was impressed.

I have a X tool D1 10 watt( for about a year), I would like to upgrade. Would you recommend going to a higher watt diode or a CO2? I would like to be able to cut 1/4 inch or thicker wood.

The CO2 lasers are much more capable than the diode lasers. Some diode lasers will cut 1/4" and thicker but the CO2 lasers are much more efficient. I have a few diode lasers, but I use my CO2 lasers 99% of the time. If they are not too far from your budget then the CO2 is the way to go.
