Xuefei Yang plays her own arrangement of this famous work, on a seven string guitar (by British luthier Paul Fischer). The track features on her Sojourn CD on Warner Classics (released 2013). The CD features a collection of pieces from Xuefei's previous EMI recordings, plus 7 new tracks released for the first time on CD.

My wife and I were in Thailand, lunching at a tiny remote restaurant when we noticed tickets on sale for a concert that evening. We stayed for the concert and it was Xuefei Yang, giving an impromptu concert for a Thai Children's Charity. It was fabulous. Sometimes life just throws you a pearl.

+Dominic Purdue Fei is a pearl of the highest order. I attended a concert where she and the first violin gave an impromptu concert after the main one and she was stunningly beautiful and with exceptional charm and grace, with absolutely unmatched guitar skills. The impromptu concert was actually better than the paid for one. She is just lovely!

This is absolutely astonishing in the beauty of the arrangement and execution, surpassing not only the original for string orchestra, but the August Wilhelmj arrangement for violin and piano whose name has subsequently stuck with the movement. This is of indescribable beauty, sensitivity, and fidelity to the art of Bach. This is a guitar masterpiece of the highest order. Super-bravissima, Ms Yang!

ms. yang I've heard this piece so many times during my life that it had become stale and stony to me. even John Williams' and David Russell's great performances of it don't really move me anymore- not their faults but my own - but you have unlocked it again totally with this performance. Bravo and thank you for your grace and superb articulation. I look forward to listing to more of your Bach your Bach performances on your CDs. God bless you :-)

Of all the classical guitarists Xuefei Yang transmits through her music the most feeling. That is a dimension the comes with great sensibility. Her Recuerdos de la Alhambra is just sensational.

At 0:36 - was there a note on the score - "Add colour"? There's nothing here not to like - music composed by a genius, played by an expert on a 7-string guitar - and a beautiful lady! Wonderful!

I’m a huge fan of Xuefei Yang and this is my favorite version of “Air”…. It’s just the tone and tempo and delivery it’s all so pure and she doesn’t have any pretense. Man she really delivers a tune. Anyway is this from a standard guitar transcription ?. I mean do students play this same arrangement? Where would that be. ? In standard notation please. Not sure sure how all this RU-vid works . Seems like no one will see what I say anyway. Weird world .

Xuefei has the sensitivity to bring the beauty of this Bach's piece. Although it wasn't composed for guitar, it suits the melancholic voice of the guitar. Another gutarist who makes the best out of this piece is Tatyana Ryzhkova. ❤

If I were a (possible) student with limitless money (pure imagination) but what would I ask her to teach me??? Please, show me....what? She's just out of our world. Musicality is her superpower. Not exactly teachable if I don't have something inside. Thank you Maestra!!

If you are not famous yourself, please don't go exonerating yourself by making comparisons of someone's playing to someone else's playing who HAVE earned their fame ! When you yourself earn it too then you can go making comparisons about whom is better than whom .....Until then consider your self lucky you can even enjoy them for free on RU-vid on the internet in a free society, maestro Bobo ...

I just loved this fast version. I play the piano and guitar, JS Bach being my favourite. Somehow I resisted playing Air on G string on guitar exactly because of the speed (it sounds wonderfully on a piano but on the guitar it's a bit boring). This guitar version is an inspiration to me. Well done
