Hi Lokesh, thanks for the this great video. I have recently purchased XUV 700 AX7L AWD. @TravelIsNirvana is absolutely correct. AWD is always ON and onboard computer decides when to send power to rear/front wheels differentially based on algorithm which uses wheel spin as one of the many parameters. The button (which many youtubers refer to as enable AWD) actually engages rear interwheel lock. This is also referred to as rear differential lock. Of course, the power sent to rear wheels is still decided by the onboard computer.

Its actually the centre diffrential lock where front and rear wheels get equal amount of power..xuv700 doesn't have the common differential lock which we see on the other 4X4 cars

There is a different between dust and loose sand , even 4 wheel drive vehicles struggle in loose sand bcz of lack of traction .... Front wheel drives will f up in loose sand immediately and they stand no chance of getting our of a loose sand patch without being stuck .... If thats a dust patch instead of loose sand then any front wheel drive vehicle would have crossed it similarly

Hi Reuben, it is it is. We live in the worst slush/mud/water flooded place in the country (during monsoons). It will be a BOON during the worst 4 months of the year + the occasional light-exploration that you'd be able to do with it. Fully worth it IMHO.

AWD is always on(System manage when to turn on) the button they are talking about is a differential lock button. You can read about differential locking.

awd in any car is always on..... difrrential is there only on 4wd vehicles

If u r a family of 4 or less then compass would be ur best choice bcz its ride and handling balance is a bit better than xuv ( xuv is not bad either but compass feels more planted in corners ) ... But u r a family of more than 4 then simply ignore compass bcz the shoulder width is just non existent for 5 and it will be very tiring to travel even for a 100km with 5 on board in compass
