So I just found your page and I'm a big fan of viragos I am working on my like fourth one, mine's in the shop right now getting some straight pipes done so have you had any internal engine work done like bigger cylinders or anything or is that the initial mono shock year top dead center timing for that engine?, the 750.? Because when I get mine out of the shop I want to check it and I don't want to mess with it I'm not very good at internal work but I can build some mean looking bikes
Hi. I haven’t had done any modifications to the engine. This is a XV750 first gen engine. That is how to find top dead centre. It you want to double check you can always remove the plugs and put a long screwdriver in which will rest on the top of the piston showing you that it is at its highest point.
It prevents the camshaft from locing up ( to little oil during low revs) and breaking the pin holding the cam chain gear 6205 (IIRC) www.tr1.de/pages/forum.php?iQuery=num=1443026799/1#1 also look for the oil pressure
BigCal7 Unfortunately I don’t think anyone has done a video on it. Basically you have to remove the complete engine from the bike, or as I did, lift the bike off the engine and them remove it. The manual is available online free if you search it and that explains what to do
Phil manwarren Once you have removed the alloy retaining sleeve it just pulls out. BUT you MUST ensure that the crank is placed in a position that neither valve is open.
