In this unpacking video, for a change, I show a detailed adult toy from LGB on a scale of 1 : 22.5 for G or IIm gauge. The garden railroad model of the Swiss Rhaetian Crocodile Ge 6/6 I with the RhB road number 414 has a prototypical length of 591 millimeters and an enormous weight of 8.8 kilograms. The model is largely made of die-cast zinc and brass and has an RRP of 3590 euros.
The multi-protocol digital decoder supports, among other things, the protocols/standards mfx and DCC and can switch 32 light and sound functions - including two electrically operated pantographs and two servo couplings. An energy buffer integrated in the model also ensures that power interruptions on dirty tracks are bridged.
The prototype of the Rhaetian Crocodile was built a total of 15 times from 1921 to 1929 and two museum specimens (RhB 414 and 415) are still in regular use today. The model of the RhB 414 that was available to me on loan (LGB item number 26600) corresponds to the museum locomotive condition of the year 2020. LGB has also realized a model of the RhB 412 in a special blue paintwork according to the condition between 2005 and 2008 (LGB item number - No. 26602). And finally, there is now also a model of the RhB 415 in a very up-to-date special paint job with chameleon color effects (LGB item no. 26601).
