I've met some who tried to insult me and I would answer with, "well, if you don't like x then no one is forcing you to look at me or be around me." I also take things literally. If one said how great his ex was, I'd ask "what happened? Why aren't you still with her?"

Im convinced that xys that give each other this kind of " advice" are actually not trying to help other xys. Its basically sabotage. Ladies, this is one of the many tactics of a real narcissist. My deceased mother was a real narcissist, so I know this for a fact. My mother truly hated and abused me. It is one of narcissist’s tactics to create, establish, and maintain a trauma bond with you. If a man tries to “humble” you, then ghost him immediately. Never stay locked inside a trauma bond with a man. A narcissist hates it when their “prey” GROWS their own high self esteem, because that is the day when they lose their “prey”. Essentially, humbling prey is a control tactic a narcissist uses to destroy self esteem and keep their prey locked inside a trauma bond. Never allow anyone to destroy your self esteem. Love yourself and never allow anyone to hurt you.

Humble them right back: have they got a job? How big or small are their packages? If they have small hands and feet, tell them. If they’re short, tell them. We can all play the humbling game. Then remind then men don’t live long happy lives unless they’re married, whereas women thrive. Keep reminding them that it’s them who need a mummy to make it through life. But most of us are used to surviving without a daddy because most mothers are single these days. Single motherhood being the norm is teaching women we don’t need men anyway. They don’t like it, then stop creating single mothers!

No man should ever “humble” you. I was single for 5 years and now engaged. I had zero tolerance for games or playing around. My friends said I was too picky. Never ever ever settle. When you find your babe who makes you feel special all the time and you reciprocate that energy, that’s when you consider being with him. Not any other time. No matter what. All of these were accurate, but the last guy was on point though. My ex told me he thought I was going to realize I was better than him and leave him. He also told me his friends told him that I was too attractive for him to trust me. Never cheated and did leave because he was abusive, not because I found someone better. So mission failed on his part.

There’s an even sneakier technique. He doesn’t come right out and make humbling statements to you, instead it’s more about what he doesn’t say. You both get dressed up to go out and you tell him how handsome he looks but he doesn’t return the favor. In fact, he doesn’t tell you that you look beautiful or pretty, ever. Even on your wedding day. But every so often he tells you about how beautiful some woman he saw is. How the new woman at the office is absolutely stunning and how she’s totally out of his league. Over the years, like an oyster creating a pearl, you build another protective layer around the hurt. And you don’t know what it’s all about it or that it has a name until you listen to a random video one day.

Single men making other men single. Lesson 1: treat woman like school bully treats their victims because everybody knows how "attractive" it is. Lesson 2: show you are not interested in her or you are taken (talks about other woman) so the only one ones willing to stay are homewrecker or doormat types. Lesson 3: show the worst of you so she can see even if she choses to be with you there will be arguments, toxicity, abuse, unfaithfulness, problems and hard life. Lesson 4: complain on internet redpill/mgtow places about women choosing mystical "Chads" and "Tyrones" because that's what women must be doing if they are not choosing "nice guys" like them and how because that they need to treat women even worse because it's all womens fault. Repeat them all in circle with ever increasing bitterness as such men grows older and stays single with decreasing options.

A guy with money, prestige, etc. But I rejected his advance, and boy did his behavior take a turn for the worse! He started a smear campaign, and would use any opportunity to try to humble me. Trying to talk down on your character, trying to make you feel like you don’t measure up, moving the goal posts, comparing you to other women, admiring other women, in front of you. All of these are ways to “humble” you, which like one of the previous guys said … it means to destroy your ego. They don’t want you to be confident, so you won’t think you have better options than them. It can get real bad. So bad that they purposely embarrass you. Make fun of you in front of other people. Frankly, you can find this dynamic in other kinds of relationships too. Not just romantic relationships. People are jealous of you and so they try to downplay all of your successes. Or they constantly try to find something to criticize, in an effort to say “you’re not all that.” It’s because they think that you ARE all that, and you probably are. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be so busy trying to find something negative to say about you. Ugh! 😩 I knew a woman who was in a serious DV relationship for 16 years. Her ex told her he disfigured her repeatedly “because she was so beautiful,” and wanted to keep her hidden. I’ve heard people say that on the front end, explaining how they go about relationships. Like “I want to find HER, then move her to the country where no one can see her.” GTFOH All that to say that this behavior is a huge red flag of what’s to come, if you go too far with this type.

If he really don’t see you’re valuable or useful or worthy, he would straight ghost. He wouldn’t try to talk you down to bargain/discount price. Recategorize him and stop entertaining him, he ain’t it. These men are too coward to walk away on their own or don’t really want to walk away but they want to appear they have options. String him along, give him nothing of yourself AT ALL. Or just run/break it off completely and don’t look back. Those are your two options.

I had one bragging about the really good looking ladies he'd met earlier that night while bar hopping with a friend while I was at work. I said < "Yes but look where you are and who you chose!" The first time he lands one of those barbs simply walk away. It is our responsibility to maintain our emotions. If they tell you, "You're not that special." Ask them, "Then why are you wasting your time talking to me?" I am not even a pretty or beautiful woman, but I don't allow men to determine my self worth. Walking away is too easy and turns the table on them emotionally really fast. Do not have anything to do with them after, no matter what.

Some of these guys that like to serve humble pies to women are actually attractive and seem to be doing well- so why are they still competing with women? Could a broken heart from 6th grade have this much impact? No, it’s weirder than that, they want to humble you bc they want to replace you. They see women being treated kindly by friends and family and they envy THAT part. They want the validation and consideration that you get bc to them, THEY are the only ones that deserve it. They see this kind of love as finite and they are competing with you for it, like an evil twin that won’t rest until they take your identity.

These goofies are exhausting. I had a boyfriend in my early 20s (in my 40s now) who told me I was fat (I wasn’t) and let me know he was attracted to my friends. He’s a cad and narcissist to this day.
