The more he can work with the other Cardinal catchers the better. Other teams didn't take him because of his age. 10 years ago and it would've been a different story.

Back in the day, I had the outfield shift towards right because I'm a lefty (not sure why everyone shifts soo extreme for lefties), I said "it's alright, I'm gonna hit it to left, no need to shift". The pitcher looked at me and said, "yeah yeah keep talking". I told him to go ahead and pitch and he'll see what happens. The next pitch, I hit it down the left field line and got a triple. The pitcher wouldn't look at me at all after that.

I think it would have been better, if he had just walked off the field like it was just another day at the ball park. There's no sense making a rookie with jewelry feel important enough for extra effort, when a perfect peg says it all.

She slides back and safe. Next pitch she inches even further out and I know with my pitcher where I put my mitt is where the ball will go. So I signal a fast curve ball to the outside. Girl takes off and my pitcher just hits the deck cause she knows what's coming. The girl was out by a solid 5 steps.. 3rd out of the 9th inning and we are done. Won 6-0. The batter wouldn't look at me and the runner stared at my pitcher till I looked her dead in the eye and she ran back to the dug out.

I dunno. Playing right field and throwing a dude out at third or home thinking they can run in you is pretty epic (I’ve only done it twice and missed way more times lol)

@@holocene. I've played outfield and catcher. Both are an epic feeling but.. put yourself in this. As a catcher 2 strikes 3 balls. Bottom of the last inning. 2 outs. Winning by one. Runner on third. Curve outside. Batter makes contact and lines it towards first. Runner darts to home and the first baseman beams one at yah. You tag them and you hear the ump call out and that's the game.. Best feeling ever

I played a lot of softball in my middle ( now 72) and I usually played right field. Throwing those huge things take great grip and huge force to reach home plate. Fast forward I played right field baseball and had fun throwing out runners trying to go home. I could not hit so my coach would tell me lean in get hit ouch. Quit baseball

It's hard to hate on a Molina. The work ethic and skill transcends team rivalries. It's like how I've always hated the Yankees, but...Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter couldn't help but to earn my respect. You can still hate the team while respecting a player (or two) on that team.

Amen! I grew up on Cardinals baseball, especially the radio broadcast from Jack Buck and Mike Shannon. I would listen with my dad and my grandpa. And to this day, I smile when hearing a Cardinals game called...especially when someone tries to run on Molina.

I'm a little bummed because I feel like I grew up when Yadi grew up as he's not much older than me. I was playing HS ball the year he got called up at 21. I remember the pudgy kid with a baby face who played great defense but couldn't really hit. Then he learned how to hit, won a lot of gold gloves and threw out alot of base runners, and always stood up for his teammates and the organization. Guys like that are once in a life time players. He had this command presence, and you felt it when he was behind the plate. There will never be another Yadi in my lifetime, maybe ever. I'm bummed because I'm not even 40 yet, and I now have to compare every catcher to Yadi the rest of my life, and it's impossible. He's easily one of the all-time greatest defensive catchers ever. And it's not up for debate. He'll be in the Hall of Fame. But I'm glad every game I watched I got to see greatness behind the plate!
