imagine you just couldn't win the fight and if you got to a certain part to kiryu's health, it instantly switches to ichiban's turn regardless of previous outcomes and no matter what skill ichiban uses, kiryu will tiger drop the move and one shot ichiban
One heat action would drag their health down to negative so hard that every meal in the entire game is unable to put it back in the green Imagine if he went Extreme Heat Mode and prevent health from falling below 1 for at least a dozen turns and every finisher is a heat action That is the full power Kiryu Kiryu will break the turned base mechanic to bits in Ichiban's head and rattled his brain by crushing his skull with one light + heavy heat action finisher
@@lycanbladefang4768 Essence of the dragon king would make it so his dad would never had needed to go to the lockers that night and masato would die in the locker.
eh, it should say it later on in the series if Ichiban and Kiryu have a rematch, when Ichiban has reached a point where Kiryu doesn't have to hold back against him anymore
I legitimately think the Kiryu fight might be my favorite boss battle in any game I’ve ever played. The music tells you you’re in for a battle you’ve got little chance of winning, Kiryu uses all his styles from Yakuza 0, he’s weak to almost nothing, and he’s even programmed to not attack women, as is his moral. I think what really makes me happy is the fact that it kind of symbolizes Kiryu passing the torch to Kasuga, and not just in the sense of him being the new protagonist, but in knowing that he’s both strong enough to stand up against him, and also mentally prepared enough to deal with the future ahead. At the end, he’s not even scratched at all, and he basically just tells Kasuga he only wanted him to beat him up so he could get his anger out and be level-headed to face his enemies with a clear mind. It’s the perfect use of him in the story, and it also feels amazing using this character you’ve played as for seven games as this awesome boss fight. It only further solidifies Like a Dragon as one of my favorite games of all time.
@@giantcrayfish2866 Not until Saiko or Eri hit him first. So it’s kind of for the best to only bring them in and swap them back out with Han/Nanba/Adachi/Zhao. Cause if both ladies are out buffing and healing, then the second male character dies…it’s only a matter of time until Ichiban learns what a fucking Tiger Drop is.
Man the feeling of this music is like you're facing an ancient force that's like a natural disaster. It was not meant to be stopped because it cant be stopped, you only need to survive until it finishes and moves along. Im still midway Yakuza 0 but damn Im getting massive spoilers just by listening to music
this comment describes exactly the experience I had last night fighting Kiryu for the first time. I knew what to expect because I saw a playthrough prior to playing the game myself but knowing is nowhere close to experiencing. I knew I was at a good level, I knew my party comp was solid, I knew my weapons were at or just above a good level... but at no point did I feel like I was in control of the fight. I was just holding on for the entirety of the fight, even when I was 1-2 turns away from winning. winning never felt guaranteed. no other fight in the entire game made me feel that way. there were other tough fights, absolutely, but I never felt like I was fighting a losing battle except with Kiryu. I'm both excited and nervous to face him during my legend playthrough haha
In my mind when this fight was not something that was avoidable, in my head I was saying: "Im sorry Kiryu-chan! They are making me do this, please dont hurt me!!"
dude i hope ichiban will not be in some other yakuza game... i really hate ichiban and his fighting style if yakuza games were hentai fighting games i would let ichibans fighting style pass.
I think he did that on purpose just to show you how absurdly outmatched you actually are. Beast doesn't really negate damage so much as doesn't let you feel the damage meaning this was basically just him eating that punch like it was baby food
Ain’t no acting, ichiban got knocked tf out and the rest of the party (just the males got their butts kicked too) he basically took on your entire party and won while not touching the girls lol
I just love how they put in little details for Kiryu's boss fight. He won't directly target your female party members unless its to counter or they're in his aoe attacks. And if you have Joon or Zhao out he actually targets them more often.
*Playing as this man for multiple games, fully maxing out his stats each time, now have to fight him* Me: Oh no.... I've created a monster Also me: Do I.... Do I have to fight him? Ichiban, I love you bro, but.... I know what you're up against, it isn't pretty 😂
@@Jackson-hp7rtHe shows up late-ish in the game in the main story. He is about to tell Kasuga some important information, before watching him lose it and relentlessly assault someone defenseless, so he changes the terms so Kasuga has to fight him first before he’ll tell him what he knows
I was five levels overleveled when I got to this fight and I pride myself on being able to beat challenging fights underleveled, I beat the original pokemon league on Yellow ten levels under but Kiryu took my entire team to beat with +3EX weapons. This was one of the first REAL challenges of the game for me, no BS instakills, no three waves of enemies to soften you up, he's the real deal.
I have to ask everyone and anyone who's first entry into this series was through Y:LAD Did you at any point think Ichiban and his friends were winning this fight?
Hey, give them a bit of credit Ichiban and the gang aren't the first playable protags to have to fight Kiryu, AND they did pretty good against Majima and Saejima, even if they 'weren't fighting serious'. being able to injure a legend is an accomplishment all its own. Ichiban is goin' somewhere
As someone who never played any of the previous Yakuza games, I remember saying out loud "Oh, no.... we fucked up!" as soon as Ichiban hit him. Kiryu is just on another level.
First yakuza game. When i heard the music and how he took that punch from Kasuga i knew this was going to be a hell of a fight lol. I paused it and came on RU-vid too see what’s up 😭
I played all the yakuza games and when I realised I had to fight kiryu I was like oh god I'm in trouble I just barely defeated him but man it was a hard battle
Imagine if Yakuza would have the old style combat system and the jobs would instead change your moves, weapons you can use or maybe a whole fighting style. It wouldn't even has to stop being an rpg.
The Ichiban POV: An absolute unlosable ex-hero who have written countless glorious history and have his legend named with a godlike dragon. The Kiryu POV: The surely powerful enough gang team with kind of formation and not really an easy challenger when his body is getting older.
Extreme Tiger Dropper Enjoyer: Just use both girls to attack, Kiryu won't fight female party members, eziest boss (because he let you win from the start, you see ;D )
