"I am Gray Yakuza. I'm the yakuza of wisdom, and I'm forty-something years old. Wherever trouble arises, I'll be there to the rescue. ...And I usually clean up the other yakuzas' messes, like some father taking care of the kids at home. ...which I honestly wish I could be doing right now... Sigh, I miss Okinawa..."
For Ichiban and his party, it was a very intense fight with 2 of the Tojo clan's most powerful and dangerous men. For Majima and Saejima, it was a Tuesday...
Some people have muscles. These muscles have a Tendo attached to it. Dudes like a sentient brickhouse compressed into a human being. Perfect "final" boss for ichibans first journey imo.
As someone who never played any of the previous Yakuza games, I remember saying out loud "Oh, no.... we fucked up!" as soon as Ichiban hit him. Kiryu is just on another level.
I can safely say these pair never slapped me so hard in my life. Casually running the game after maxing investments so i can buy whatever i need. Thats fine right? Nope. Majima one shotting me every attack was a reminder that the game showed you the fight arena for a reason.
I did indeed take majima. Many many times till I came back at level 45 and slow played this fight hard. Saeko and Namba healing me like my life depends on it while me and Joon tickle him for fun
The slower beat is so fitting for the turn based style because, just like the fight, it sounds more like a decisive battle of wits rather then a chaotic hand to hand challenge
The Ichiban POV: An absolute unlosable ex-hero who have written countless glorious history and have his legend named with a godlike dragon. The Kiryu POV: The surely powerful enough gang team with kind of formation and not really an easy challenger when his body is getting older.
This game was amazing. The idea of going from fantasy to real life, just hits hard. Love this game. This is why we game, call me corny but this is only found in gaming. Yakuza series goated.
I have to ask everyone and anyone who's first entry into this series was through Y:LAD Did you at any point think Ichiban and his friends were winning this fight?
@@Jackson-hp7rtHe shows up late-ish in the game in the main story. He is about to tell Kasuga some important information, before watching him lose it and relentlessly assault someone defenseless, so he changes the terms so Kasuga has to fight him first before he’ll tell him what he knows
I still really wish that this fight shifted the combat style. It would've been something like, Ichiban was taking this moment so seriously that his mind wasn't tinted with Dragon Quest and RPGs, but a battle with his best friend/brother who lost their way, so he'd go all out as he needed to. (They kinda did that by locking you to freelancer, but would've been cool if they swapped over to traditional combat.)
