I love how Ryuji very obviously KNOWS who he's dealing with right from the start, but still pretends like its nothing. It creates this beautiful tension of respect and danger between them. One of my fav moments from the game.
I would love to think that Ryuji is basically treating this as an appetizer for the future. He pretends to not know because he would have to fight the enemy right then and there since Kiryu is in enemy territory. He then gives Kiryu a sneak peek into his plans and motives, as if telling him to get ready for the ultimate fight in their lives. Ryuji obviously wants a battle that will be legendary. That can only happen if both contestants are prepared and ready for it.
I love how Kiryu can totally disguise himself by basically saying "Nope, totally different Kazuma Kiryu". He did it twice now (Kiwami 1, Sera's funeral registration) and got away with it
"The Dragon of Dojima, the Tojo Clan's Kiryu Kazama?" "No. That's not who I am." Kiryu means he's not Yakuza anymore, he's retired. Ryuji decides to play along as if he believes Kiryu was being literal.
It always makes me smile when thugs or antagonists confront Kiryu in cutscenes so brazenly. His entire in 0 alone would be enough to mske them all shit themselves
Kiryu: Why does that that Dragon of Kansai reminded me of someone? *remembers back 18 years ago* Oh! You’re that tall kid bump into me after my fortune. Ryuji: Oh yeah, now I remember. Anyway, drop your pants! Kiryu: *Nani!?*
To be fair he was really good character. He’s steals every scene where he appears, low-key best yakuza villain for me. Sad he wasn’t survived so he could show up in another game but there’s a rumours about his return in yakuza 8.
SEGA: how about we turn a pants-stealing side mission NPC into a tall yakuza and make him go head-to-head with Kiryu? I mean it’s not like Kiryu went through a lot in Zero.
1:31 That look on the goons face when that minion with the green shirt called Ryuji the Dragon of Kansai tells it all. They knew he said the wrong thing.
Why haven't I seen any top comments about how good that alcohol looks flowing from the cup and hands? This is an older game and I still haven't seen even scripted physics that good
@@wh6055 yeah, good question. Kiryu's people skills sucked in my opinion. His manners are wanting for sure and the fights he gets into, some of them are stupid.
I would say he'd be more upset at Ryuji and his boys for causing the scene that led to Koryu trashing stuff. Guy adores Kiryu too much to get pissed at him.
I love how kiryu could have gone downstairs from the stairs in front of him but instead he went to their side and after finishing the fight he went to the other side instead of the one in front of him
First, in Japan, the surname precedes the first name. Secondly, in Japanese culture, people often call each other by their surnames, even if they are very close friends. This makes it difficult for Japanese characters to know which is their first name.
