Yale Conexis L1 Connect Smart Lock installation and review 

The smart things integration is pretty sweet and really adds to the locks capability. Definitely saves on the amount of stuff you need to take when you leave the house.

Yes they have an updated app which is much better, it is a great lock

Hello All, update. I borrowed my friends Iphone, logged in to my lock on the IOS version of the app and hey-presto everything worked. Save yourself hours of pain and give-up on the Android app, get sorted on the IOS version then transfer it back to your personal phone.

No. You can always open the door from the inside, even if the device is powered off. This is likely a security feature that I'd imagine is going to be on all consumer smart locks. That said how old are the kids? Do you see the little knob on the inside door handle? You can turn that to unlock it, but you do need to push in then turn, kind of like a childproof bottle, but easier. IF they're super young it might be too hard for them.

I am from Singapore and one hardware shop is selling this lock at SGD 90, which is about 65 USD. And there are 4 pcs left in the shop. This tells me something not so right with the lock.

I think there is a 9v battery terminal on the bottom so you can use that on the outside to power the lock so you can use the fob or app to unlock it. There is a low battery warning before that and I’d guess it won’t use hardly any battery when it’s not being used so you shouldn’t need to worry if you just change the battery when it tells you it’s low.

you can either create another playstore/appstore account with UK location from droplist and use it once to download the app. Also I've found this on amazon thanks to C A Walker " When you go through the registration of the first tag, ignore the video which tells you to register one tag and use the app for the rest. The app appears to have been developed on a school dinner budget, don't trust it. Register all the fobs, cards etc at the same time. So, you press R once as guided in the video, and hold up each tag/card/phone sticker thing in turn, do not press R after each one, just hold them all up in turn; be quick as it does time out after 30 seconds or so, (red lights and beeps). Once you have registered all your tags etc, then press R. (Each one you hold up should be greeted with a beep and a green light, just keep holding each one up and registering. "

@@master00log Thanks for this and there is a similar (but not exactly the same) comment on the Yale Knowledgebase on their website. Every other source says otherwise and only register one tag. Will be worth trying.

I installed one a few weeks ago.. it seemed great, easy install up until a point and then the unit seemed to not work at the key fob stage... yale support were very good over the phone, but agreed the unit was not working correctly, so we're going to try with a new one.. i must admit that our having a second entrance to the house just in case is a relief as after the not working experience, I would not try to install again otherwise.

I've not had an issue with the rain I have had an issue where the the day the Yale key fobs did not work and denied me access to my home happened for the first time today not sure if that's due to rain luckily I have install the module for the smartthings app so was able to regain access to my home deleted the lock from the app and had to re set up my key fobs now I've done this everything seems to be working fine

and how many people do you know that can get a full arm through a letter box?

@@abzzee137 Would not need to be a full arm and people do actually break in to houses using that method

@@johnmason5626 it’s called a thumb lock and lots of doors have them fitted so you don’t need a key to lock and unlock the door from the inside. It’s hard if not impossible to get though the letter box to turn it. They are more likely to use a litter picker or similar to fish your keys from off the hook or table near the front door.

Under normal use the batteries last for over a year. The device warns you if the batteries are low. As a backup there are contacts at its base to place a 9v battery against for emergency power to allow you to use a paired device/fob to get in.

Hmmmm, that sounds odd but probably not related to anything you did. Try resetting the unit (tells you how to do this in the instructions) and then try setting up your first fob again. Hope you get it sorted.

@@VirtualRealityPilot thanks man it was me i think i nether pushed the handle down after the 15 seconds but after reading the manual i did it right cos i never at first i just watched videos. thanks mate really appreciate u getting back to me and this video witch is what made me want the lock even more and im so glad i got it i love it allready just need to hurry up and fix my phone screen to connect that to it thanks again man

That’s right, the handle has to be physically pulled up to lock

My next door neighbour has had it much longer than I have and hasn’t had any problems. I’ll let others row in here to comment .....

We contacted our insurance but it didn’t make any difference. Our security cameras didn’t either but the house alarm made a big difference.

Cards/fobs/mobile phones dont require it to be connected to wifi/smart home setup. they work without. You only need wifi for alexa.

Just ordered a PVC front door from Everest, and it comes with these locks as an option.

They fit all doors with a dead lock

You want a composite door, not pvc.

Keep the PVC in the bedroom and get composite front door

I’m sure it’s not 100% secure but the encryption is pretty good. Anyone with the skills to do this will be interested in more than is in your house. Make sure you get the version 2 module as the security is better.

What do you except it to be powered by? Hopes and dreams?? The cable isn’t fragile like he makes out and once fitted it won’t need to be touched.

You're right, it does seem a bit like technology for the sake of technology! A bit like BMW's talking aircon, where you have to say 'hello computer, can you turn the heat up?' and then wait for another 20 seconds for it to respond, by which time you could have reached out and turned the temperature knob yourself. Stupid inventions that just make things more cumbersome and time consuming.
