DaBinChe, with the motor at full tilt up, the oil "window" will show the actual oil level (same as the dipstick does when the motor is vertical ! ) It took me a while to get it. The guy who thought this out must be a a genius. Something else I found interesting : I removed the pilot screw plug, only to find the screw had only 1/4 turn out from factory.... yet working just fine ! (there's a bunch of drilled holes under the carb's top cover gasket that all contribute to throttle response , pilot screw is just for very fine tuning. I love mine, treat it with injector cleaner once in a while, and never let old gas mess it up. Anyways, the idle circuit can be cleaned from the top using nozzeled carb cleaner + compressor , no need to get the carb out, just the drain bolt + top cover.
Hey how do you like it? I just bought mine new. Haven’t started it waiting for spring. Anything I should know about this motor? I’m planning to get a small fuel filter.
I like it but is slow for a heavy boat. Main thing is that I can carry it with one hand. If you are using fresh gas from a clean jug shouldn't need a fuel filter.
@@ZampostOk Amazon BRIS 330 inflatable is 130# but can carry up to 1200# so that becomes a lot of weight for a 2.5hp. Not gonna be planing that thing but is is a soft keel so is not a planing boat. 2.5 is good for smaller/lighter boats like kayaks/canoes or even heavy boat in a lake or on a calm day in the ocean. Hell even a 2500# displacement sailboat will be fine in harbor/marina.
I have the same motor it started yesterday I got from point A to point B but after that it wouldn’t start back up as I tired to start it it will whistle as I’m pulling the starting rope or it will whistle when I go to let the motor down after it’s been tilted up as I tired to start it again water will come from another hole on the other side of the motor that’s not on the carburetor side please help
Make sure you have proper oil level. You have to run the motor in water. If ran without the water pump will get destroyed really fast, within a minute fast, and won't pump properly then the engine will overheat. Then you would need to replace the water pump. The pee hole on the far side of the motor needs to be clear/unclogged to cool properly. If seaweed clogs up the water passage way the engine will also overheat. Make sure the pee hole is shooting out strong, if not get a coat hanger straight section and poke it into the pee hole to unclog it.
@@lightskinxxvvxx7334 water comes out from the back under side is normal, that is the pee hole, that is where the water exist the motor for cooling. Water gets sucked up down near the prop on the two sides forward of the prop
@@lightskinxxvvxx7334 make sure you have gas, turn petcock on, turn throttle to start position, and have choke on, pull start. Once started slowly decrease choke takes a few minutes depending one how warm/cold it is.
Don't wanna be a jerk but I'm actually with my motor waiting for instructions and all I'm getting us sporadic info, mixed with LOTS of side stories..very frustrating.
@@mhayes22167 The older ones 's oil level, motor beeing vertical, was shown through the "window" only. Newer ones by the dipstick only. Ask Yamaha why, but I found the window will actually show the oil level with the engine fully tilted UP ! WOW.
