In this video Yamaha artists Jeff Consi and Darran Muller join our product manager Jamie to unbox of the very first new 2016 Yamaha Recording Custom series kit to arrive in Australia in a classic Steve Gadd style Solid Black!
The kit: 10x7 and 12x8 toms, 14x13 and 16x15 floor toms and a 20x16 bass drum, fitted with the new bass drum lifter. To finish the kit off, we try out the new 13x6.5 Recording Custom Brass Snare.

My dream would be to own this kit but in the 20-14-12 configuration.. But for now, i'm pretty happy settling for my vintage 4 piece Yamaha Tour (8000) series drums in classic natural wood finish and standard depths and sizes..

the recording customs are a class bit of kit and quite rightly so as artistes testify this in there recordings. My favourite colour as a collector of many id the "quartz grey" ! it just seems odd that the new rc's in surf green nearly get that quartz grey look? apart from that hideous wooden hoop!!

Hi guys. Just wondering where you are based in Australia. I happened to score an 80s RC in satin sunset brown (brown cherry sunburst) with matching snare eight years ago from an ex-Yamaha rep. He said it was built for Steve (not sure if it was Jordan or Gadd) but not taken. I am not a drummer but I would love to see this kit set up properly and see and hear it in its full glory. I need help tracking its history.
