The Yamaha AS-1100 Pure Analog Beast
Normally $3000.00US then it dropped down to $2499.00US and now since the new line is coming out the AS-1200/2200/3200 the price of this AS-1100 has dropped down to $1899.00US at some distributors !
Which is a crazy over all deal this baby has some serous weight to the sound ! Bass digs down very low ! Mid range is outstanding i can even hear the saliva on Susan Wong Vocals ! The top end is so smooth and non fatiguing with a dash of warmth , You would swear that theirs tubes hidding somewhere inside the imaging is outstanding its like my speakers are running around the room doing kart-wheels ! 😆
The abosulete best sounding integrated amp i have owned and i bought dozens in the past 2 years ! And i was upset with all of them compared to hi-end vintage gear but thats just it you can't compare Vintage Hi-Fi (hi-dollar )
to new age budget amps , So i saved up to see what a step above budget amps brings to the table , and ohh my, while my Vintage gear is very good it lacked details and imaging compared to the new sound !
The only budget amp that competed with My Hi-Fi (Hi-Dollar)vintage gear is The IOTAVX-STACK which at 900.00US very impressive for a budget amp !!

I have an A-S1100, absolutely amazing amp. Build quality as already discussed, puts current arcam amps to shame and other amps at equivalent prices. Everything sounds so natural, to the point that I can confidently say to 99% of people they have heard the songs they know 'wrongly' until they hear this amp. It doesn't chop off bass but actut delivers all of it, with control and zero strain. The best part is the holographic sound stage which I imagine to be like a tube amp though only have experience of a tube headphone amp.

Yes one of the first impressions I got from the amp was how well it produces that 3d imaging a wave of sound with not only height and width but depth also ! 😆

Just picked up an A-S1200 a few months ago, it looks the same as this, apart from the toroidal transformer. These amps are built like tanks and very tidy inside. I figure it will last longer than I will. Had my last Yamaha (a 1982 vintage A700) for over 35 years (bought it lightly used for $500 back in '82). Interesting to compare the old amp to the new - the old one actually had more power, peaking at 250 watts into 4 ohms. That is the beginning and end of the old amp's advantage though - the new model has an amazingly open sound stage and it has a much tighter grip on my speaker's 12" woofers. Never had any problems with the old A700, just cleaned it's moving parts with Deoxit and gently blew the dust out of it every few years. It had a hard life too, I partied a lot back in the 80s in college, and for a few years after that - LMAO... Love the audiophile grade Yamaha products, they are built to last.

You wouldn't believe how many Yammys I have owned geez its alot I got a C.A. 810 I bought a couple months back . These new models that are built very good AS-1000 and up are outstanding ! I love the weight of the power ! Congrats on the 1200 ! hope you watched Zero Fidelity review I would love to compare to the 1100 i am sure theor very close in sound the 1100 weighs a lil more but that Toridal transformer has less noise than the el transformer but el transformers have a lil bit warmer sound Enjoy thanks for stopping in !

@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 I did watch Zero Fidelity's review (Sean is such a knowledgeable well spoken audio nerd - love his videos) and follow up video on the A-S1200 and agree with his observations - now that I have owned it awhile, the amp is better than it was when new. It went from a little aggressive to smooth as a new baby's ass in the lower treble range. The new unit has always been smoother and more detailed than the outgoing model, which, in fairness, is almost 40 years old! Amazing that the old amp is as good as it is. For me it was down to the Parasound Hint 6 and the Yammie. I like the Hint 6 as it is a powerful beast and it has more features (built in DAC, better headphone stage, etc) than the A-S1200. I just plain love the heft and the look of the Yammie though, and had such a great experience with the brand for so many years. I also appreciate the purity of design embodied in the Yamaha A-S line - I can buy an external DAC and headphone amp, it is better to have those components as separates anyway. The thing that sealed the purchase is I got a killer deal (2K, shipped) on my supposedly refurb unit. Almost got a leftover A-S2100 (similar refurb deal) but went for the new model. It arrived sealed in it's plastic bag and with that new electronics smell and it broke in over time. There was no distinguishing that the unit was not brand new. I plan to leave this amp in my will to my kid - LMAO... Enjoyed your video on the Yammie A-S1100, got lots to catch up on. Subscribed!

Denon for price is pretty legit but it doesn't have the Clarity of AS 1100/1200 but dam Yamaha picky man with speaker pairing man !!! I also owned many vintage intg Amps from the 70s but the new ones have very good clarity a little forward in upper mids but over all great amp and built better than some 5k intg Amps!

@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 Well my speakers are month old Monitor Audio Silver 300 7G and I've been assured the 1200 would drive them pretty easily, so fingers crossed. They will be doing dual duty with my Yamaha 3060 AVR so it will be nice to compare that with the sound from the 1200. Very VERY nice build! I haven't seen build quality like this since those Pioneer SX980-series receivers in the 70s, or some VERY high-end amps you can find nowadays. Like you said in the video, to get something like this, 1. You have to spend the $$$ and 2. Money alone doesn't necessarily buy this...the consumer has to be informed and look for this kind of quality. Great video Teejay!

It's all about FUN! 😉😬😇 Guess what band I'm going to listen to when I wake up???🤔🤔🤗😬 I do have a question? When you say home theater bypass does that mean you can use your AVR receiver watching Netflix for example and then if you want to just listen to 2 Channel music you can use all the features which aren't many on the Yamaha as long as the L & R are hooked up to the Yamaha. I'm looking to get something like this and confused if it's that easy because I do use the home theater setup significantly more than I di 2 channel and right now I'm just using 2 channel through an AVR which I'd rather have something dedicated like this if it isn't too much of a pain in the neck! And if the Yamaha which I know it doesn't was a device that had a digital preamplifier with wifi in it could I still use the avr for movies and use the integrated for 2 channel with all the new features that the integrated offers along with the newer dac it has as opposed to 20 year old dac in the avr? Or us the integrated only an amp that point?🤔🤔🤔🤔😬

Yes it has home theater bypass which means if your AVR has Preouts for the 2 front channels left and right you just run those outputs straight into the Yamaha amp input , I will go threw this during overview buddy , And this amp was built totally for sound quality , Its pure analog basically analog Pre-amp/amp so you get very very low noise and no digital inteferrence it has no bluetooth/dac/streamer/ Wi-Fi all these features put out RF noise and they rob power from the one built in power source , This allows for far superior sound quality , But you can still hook up Any AVR to it and use the volume control fron your avr . I have a modi 3 dac hooked up to it with the ifi ipower supply and very good budget cables and it sounds amazing ! Also have my Pioneer SACD player and iFi zen blue bkuetooth reciever hooked up threw the my dac. I will showcyou with my Matantz AVR how to hook to the Yamaha , 😆

@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 You got admit, this integrated amp purchasing is so confusing with so many options including Shitt Audio products that match your modi 3!🤪🤯 I mean do you do dual monoblocks with a separate Dac, Do you get an all one integrated? so many companies out there that it's just so overwhelming with about a $5,000 budget. And because I have the JBL 590's which are 92 DB efficient the power aspect of things or should I say more power isn't even really necessary.🤪🤪 I'm considering getting a high-end AVR to replace my 20 year old Denon because again my speakers don't take that much to drive anyway but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot regarding sound quality. At this time my wife and I never think to ourselves wow this home theater needs to sound better because we never say that. Put 2 Channel music into the mix after seeing some RU-vid videos over the years, I just can't stop thinking how much better the 2-channel experience can be even though the Denon packs wallop to begin with, just so confusing!🤪😝🤔🙄 and then you throw in the prospect of tube amplifiers snd it really can spin your head!🤫🤫🤭🤭🤪 it seems I literally have to be the buying and return guy because you can't tell about any of these things in a showroom without your equipment and speakers it's just a waste of time!

Bob on the inside theirs a nut on the back of the Potentiometer (inside amp) its like a 10mm or close to that i never took off before but i seen it . Did it come lose or someting ? Are you just talking about the knob ? If so its a set screw that holds the knob on most likely a 1mm allen key

Hey Tee-Jay - I read your comment on another reviewer's channel (stereopolice) that you bought a Yamaha A-S801 and then returned it. What didn't you like about it? I'm considering a Yamaha integrated, the 501, 701 or 801 to replace an old receiver, Can't afford something like the 1100.... Thanks

Got ya buddy , Here we go , being a huge Yamaha fan i was disappointed in the AS-801 , I bought the 801 to kick start the channel ,do to all the Highly acclaim reviews at the time of the 801 When i got the 801 in i tried with many speakers and it was just really thin sounding It didn't have that weight to it, even though it had boosted bass and treble, their still wasn't enough meat on the bone and the midrange i felt suffered the V shape sound charcter and the background noise wasn't as dark or as quite as my 2010 model Yamaha AX-497 pure analog Integrated which i did a horrible review of , So i Popped the hood on both integrateds and notice that the Yamaha AS- 801 was a all in one box loaded up ! and the Yamaha 497 was just a Preamp and Amp 'pure analog 'and much more balanced overall But thats just my humbled Opion on the 801 So i reached out to a friend who reccomended The IOTAVX-STACK 'Zero fidelity' And i was BLOWN away by the IOTA SA3/PA3 Stack 54,200 UF compasitors 2 power supplies good internal electronics Vintage flavor with new age clean details , I never menstioned this on video because there is alot of people who own and love the 801 and i wanna keep positive reviews on the channel , I should have went for the AS-1000 and honestly I couldn't afford the AS-1100 , I just got lucky and basically sold some Vintage gear to obtain the AS-1100 , Try and see if you can get a trial period with the 801 you may love it !

BUT NO FILTER CAPS? I was expecting to see some 10,000 mf in there . . . wtf? Designed by Steve Mantz of ZED . . . I use it bridged to 300 watts. Enormous bandwidth.

@leonarddaneman810
@leonarddaneman810 4 года назад
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 It is an interesting amp. Can run 500 wpc at 2 ohm load all day long. I got it to run some complex Dahlquist speakers. Here is the designer's description. "Steve Mantz, now with Zed Audio, was instrumental in the Citation 5.1 and 7.1 amp creation: "We did design and build the Citation 7.1 and the smaller 5.1. We built a lot of these for Harman International. The amplifiers are flat from DC to 270KHz where the response is about 1dB down. Harman wanted this silly specification, why I do not know because we are not bats and cannot hear that high. The original specification was that they wanted the amplifier to go out to 600KHz, but the first prototypes were NOT happy out there and so we 'compromised' at just under 300KHz. Each channel uses 10 Toshiba 20MHz output devices with a theoretical dissipation of 1,500 watts. The circuitry is fully complementary from input to output and it has some very unique features. Each channel has 6 power supplies which are separate from the other channels. The only common item between channels is the power transformer, which is a 2.2Kw toroid.
