Here is an update that I’ve been asked to post regarding the EZ Brackets from Great Bike Gear along with the hard bags i use. Tough doing it one handed, but it does show how easy these Brackets are to use.
Thanks! That's an awesome compliment! Check out my most recent video with more updates. I have another video coming in april/may once the weather breaks here.
If you can't reverse those protruding mounting bolts inside the bags and replace them with carriage bolts (from a hardware store), I'd cut them a bit shorter, use acorn nuts, and cover them with foam and tape, as they can really damage stowed gear from rubbing.
Two questions. Do you happen to have the link for the correct ez bracket to get? Also would you be able to put a sissy bar since they go on the same bolt holes?
Would you recommend rigid mounts instead of the easy brackets? It seems like they might wobble with out having lower support on the bag. Wont be able to remove them as fast but they would be more soild i think. What do you figure? @powersportpete
I rarely ride with bags which is why I'm using the EZ Brackets. I don't want some horrible looking bracket hanging off of my fender when the bags aren't in use. The slight bit of movement in the bags aren't enough for me to slap those fugly rigid mounts on my bike under any circumstances.
I got everything from Shane at SS Custom Cycles. He custom fabricates the brackets for the Bolt so you can use the memphis shades quick release feature. Totally worth the money.
Check out www.yamahastarbolt.com My handle is DelawarePete. Click on my profile and you should be able to see the bike with bags. I'll be posting some new ones w/i next hour.
I got them from amazon a while back. I poked around and couldnt fine the exact one. Look for HL bags and you might find some that suit what you are looking for.
Those bars are 1 off custom bars made by Burly Brand for a custom Bolt build they did back in 2013. Check out my walk-around video for more details. I'll also be posting an update video withing the next week or so.
