I spent 6 hrs at the Guitar Center playing this keyboard. Didn’t even go through all the presets. It’s a really inspirational synth to play. Sounds so incredible.
Montage is a great instrument. I am an owner of a korg triton and a roland xp 60. I ised to own the yamaha ys100 way back in the day. What i loved about that aynth was the fm synthesis, so i can imagine the programming beast that montage is. I am presently saving for a korg kronos which pretty much will do what montage does. The fm programming is present in kronos as one of the nine engines. But i think anyone who buys the montage or kronos will sonically be able to do anything they want. Kudos Yamaha and korg,!!,
I dont mean to be offtopic but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost the account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Junior Abel Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Great demo - much more useful than only showing a bunch of piano sounds :-) Thinking about the MODX which I understand has the same sound set you've showcased here.
Great demo! I own Motif XF8 and M3-88. Montage has lots of cool features. I thought about selling it for Montage 8, but haven’t been able to justify yet. I wish Yamaha make a Montage mini desktop form factor or a rack version of Montage, so I can use it with M3-88 keybed and custom controllers.
You mean who finally gets it 😃...Yamaha did not have a decent display until the Motif XF. I had to sell my Motif Rack 🤔 because the interface was unusable . (Or maybe I just refused to use it because the Fantom-S was sitting right next to it 😎.)
Dirty Donki 100% disagree I think the Nords are better than the Kronos by a loooooooonnng shot but it is a beautiful board though but the Montage can go just as deep but easier to us the UI aint trash the Bosendorfer in the Yamaha sound amazing can’t top that and the Nord Grand Imperial is OP
@@dasstraat dude stfu don’t nobody want to play on a stupid computer 🖥 all day some people want to play stand alone & feel the instrument don’t nobody care about the price
This is an amazing synth. This definitely out performs my Roland Fantom G7 that I've had for years. I definitely need to check this piano put at my near by music store.
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB so I went today to try out the montage 8 at my local guitar center and unfortunately we couldn't get it to play any audio. You can hear beeping sounds as we pressed the screen to select a sound and had the master volume and gain at max but still zero audio came out of it so I walked out of the store with nothing lol! What a waste of a drive and today was my only time off of work and the first time I stepped into a guitar center during the pandemic. Have you experienced any audio issues. I couldn't find a solution online to get this thing working at the store. We also tried disconnecting the speakers that were on them to another piano using the same cables and powered speakers and it worked 100% with a Yamaha MODX but when we plugged the cables back to the Montage we had zero audio again. 🥺🤷🏽♂️
Motif ES was released in 2003 having 1GB of user memory . Montage is released in 2018 having only 2GB of user memory over ES. Strange right ? . I think Yamaha are afraid to put more user memory because in such case they won't sell future products . So instead of putting 2 ram slots (user option if he want to buy 16gb of ram or not) they promote their new products saying that the sample memory was expanded from 700mb to 5 GB...etc etc . So they always maintain user memory as low as possible and they promote their new products using the factory sample memory as marketing tactic . This way some users will buy the new flagships because they are tired of the factory sounds and only 1gb of user memory is a joke ...marketing tactics folks
So true.. tiny cell phones have 3-4 GB of RAM. In the present day RAM is so much cheaper and yet workstations have such a pathetic amount of user memory.
Is there an option to turn off that big flashing dial..........it's rather distracting, as cool as it looks! ? Sounds all amazing, as you'd expect. More dials and sliders useage please
Hey. I wanted to know, is it possible to connect yamaha montage/modx to korg pa3 series keyboards using a midi or USB cable, and when I activate Transpose from the korg, it will change the scale in the yamaha Thank you!
Could you please tell me how you have addressed sipario, needs information about ports, esex and the like. In general, I would like sipario to support my entire color palette including effects. Thank you
Thank you! The Montage is a fabulous instrument, also very complex and interesting for sound design. I see that you have the Prophet Rev2 also. I have the Montage and the Rev2, and I think they complement each other very well. While the Rev2 is capable of very complex patches, it is much easier to program than the Montage. Building patches from the ground up with the Montage can be intimidating at first! It's like learning how to fly a spaceship!
Hi, congratulations for the amazing video. I have a question, what is this device that you use to change sounds? What is the model? I will be very happy if you can help me with this. Thank you very much!!!
I was thinking of buying a Montage or a Kronos, to my ears the montage sounds better then the kronos and I like the interface better - but the kronos seems to be more flexible and has a better setlist mode especially with the kronos remote ipad app.
Yes, i’ve owened both (kronos for 2 times..) for me montage it’s much better.. the sounds are very very personal.. but on the specs, i’ve noticed one big big problem into kronos: polyphony... on montage you have 128 note stereo polyphony on awm2 + 128 note polyphony on fm-x.. much better for big patches.. i’ve sold years ago the first kronos for a motif xf, and the second kronos, purchased after montage i kept it for a few days and then i’ve sended back to the store.. with kronos you’ve more sound engine.. you prefer yamaha or korg sounds? This is the first question!;)
If you subscribe to soundmondo (yamaha website) for free, you can search my sounds and install into montage for free!;) search dks synth lab, you only need google chrome on pc/mac or soundmondo app on iphone/ipad and usb cable!;) i’ve loaded many of my sounds on soundmondo!;) hope you like it! Enjoy!
Is the keybed really smaller? I just finished SOSs review and the guy said the 6 and 7 had keybeds that were slightly narrower than the industry standard. Thanks for the Demo, the Montage sounds really impressive.
Well, in fact like all synth action/semi weighted keybed the keys are 1cm shorter than an 88 action. So for example on the fsx keybed on Montage thr keys are 14cm, on the new roland Fantom and Jupiter X 14cm longer on an 88 weighted action the keys are 15cm longer. So not a big difference! For me never a problem!
Wonder if that’s possible to create similar sounds or make the exact same sound on the Roland Fantom. Does anyone know if it’s possible to edit the sounds on the Roland to make it sound one of those?
What kind of editing control is there over the drum tracks...if any...Hoping to modulate the sounds over and above the stock sample sounds that appear in this demo
Nice demo. For the Montage, if only Yamaha could do a good Hammond organ engine sound. Nord will always have the upper hand until they get this done right. Also the weight is too great unless you have it at home only (or have a crew moving it). They need to stop using heavy material and come up with something lighter.
I played today on the montage 88 keys. Oh, what a disappointment... I never expected it to go backwords from the motif 88 keys. The montage has this bouncy feel in the finish of a key press. Reminds me of my casio keyboard i sold almost for that reason alone... No piano has this bouncy feel, nor any of the other high end 88 workstations. Oh well, going to check you roland, korg, etc. I hope of finding something decent. Best workstations 88 keys from what i tried are nord stage 88 and korg kronos 88, by far.
Hi.. " unfortunately you live in Italy"!!!!???? lol.. No, no, that should be, " Fortunately, i live in Italy! " .. Italy is a beautiful place! feel lucky to be able to live there.. Also, i hope your making your own music! you play very well! if you would like some help to do so? let me know.
Hi, i just found your video here and wanted to know if you might be in or around the NYC area by chance? if so, i would like tto talk more with you about possibly playing synth on 2 albums of music i will be recording soon! this is not a joke or scame or any BS.. i am serious. so please let me know.. ~ thank you
DKS SYNTH LAB I just picked up a Montage 8 for like half price, its a beast, the architecture seems a bit different to me like say I want to create a subdivisions analog type pad its not as simple as just tweaking the cutoff frequency I find editing on kronos a bit easier but montage does have better sound quality
@@EverettDudgeon138 The Forte is a great machine and i am a huge fan of Kurzweils V.A.S.T, but i personally think the Montage sounds better and its undoubtedly the best and most powerful FM synth on the market today.
I have a K2600, K2500 and PC2RO but I've never been happy with the articulation of acoustic instruments. Also, the programming of VAST takes a rocket scientist. The arpeggio tools in Montage make improvising a song quickly and easily a reality. I think I'm going to try a Montage soon.
