Yamaha Montage M8x day-7 Review - Diving into Sounds, ARPs and some new Features

On my next video I will have to remember to keep the light ON :)
Last week I did a little video for my experience in replacing my Montage-8 with the latest Montage-M8x, the video was for unboxing, initial startup with a glimpse of playing the most powerful instrument, it was quite fun and still is.
Many people asked me to make another video (well; this video now) to show more about the UX and share my feedback to what's all about.
This video is a deep dive review onto the instrument, it's not to make a "symphony" or play an Orchestra, ... it's merely to showcase the instrument, what it does, how different it is to its predecessor and how powerful it really is.
I will make more videos as the time goes by expanding more on each part of this video; likely will be on Rhythm making, Arpeggios, Motion Controls, Sound Engines, Recording, and live sounds in a more detailed way.
After editing this video before uploading; (On the mixer and multi-channel side), I realised I could've explained that better,... what the video meant to show is that for a "performance" you can have parts going to different channels on your mixer and treated separately with effects.
Do I like this instrument?!.... no... I ABSOLUTELY "LOVE IT"...
Bottom line... this is "THE" Best instrument I've ever had and I salute Yamaha for making such a fantastic product.

13:05 For a youth with almost 7yrs of rendering free playing services with most experience from church instruments with lots of restrictions since teenage age and a country with with no secured pay means, the least instrument in your studio is a fantasy❤.

It’s a really tempting board. The old one had UDLR cursor buttons, but they just moved them around the jog wheel. Damn shame PAT is only available on the 88 though - am sure that in the future we’ll see special edition 6x and 7x, probably in white. Fresh to the channel, keep up the great playing.

Exactly @X22GJP... the instrument I bought is the 88 key after I read about the after touch... if you are considering getting one I suggest going for the 88 straight away. I'm sure the lower-end ones would sound good too, but the 88 for me has been the best so far. Good luck either way mate.

Cheers mate. The thing with 88 keys is the physical size and the weighted action - don’t have much room and not a fan of piano-style keys. I’ll have to try and see one in person to feel how heavy the action is.

No Worries @@X22GJP ,... I agree with you that it's not a small keyboard, wish I could comment on making more space obviously you would know best what's right of you. In regards to the weighted action if this is the older model (The Montage 8) then yes the keys are quite heavy (as heavy as a non-digital piano) and would do great as a workstation sitting in a studio somewhere... however in regards to this release (The M8x) the keyboard feels much lighter in a way that I could almost compare it with a semi-weighted action, frankly I could not resist buying one when I first tried it out in a music shop after I tried it out... Usually I go to Andertons in Guildford (UK) it's 20 minutes drive from where I live and the staff are extremely helpful, I remember playing there at least an hour trying everything out, it just felt that the keyboard and I where "connected" :) My advice is to visit a local shop where you live and see which one would workout, the 88 for me is heaven and I can't wait to do more with it once I finish my TAX return :( in the next couple of days... Totally forgot about the channel but after watching a few Montage videos here a few days ago the algorithm recommend this and it was a surprise to see all the uploads you had. Watched everything going back to one year "Waking up the dead" 😂 Ok looking forward to Montage uploads...

It's always great to see the good old friends, I am flattered that the RU-vid algorithm chose me, I feel very happy that my diary channel (or blog if I'm trying to act younger) can be an inspiration one day... Thank you SO much for looking into my Kronos videos... Frankly with the Yamaha Montage M8X doing so much; I don't know if it's worth wasting any more time on the Kronos, might as well sell it for £1 on eBay once I had the chance to finish what I am working on... Of course, will make more videos on the M8X soon,... right now I must finish tons of stuff before I can open the hood and enjoy the instrument. I remember the Kerzweil back in 1996 I worked on the K2000 at the time, very good machine it was... that said; exchanging with the Yamaha was definitely worth every penny for me, either way I sincerely wish you the best of luck.
