Great to have someone like you to go deeper into the montage! It´s a pleasure to see what this mashine can do! Please upload more tutorials :) Would be great! :)
Hi Michael, thank you for these tutorials. I like that they are short, simple and get right to the point. One question though : how would you use loop samples?
Hello Michael. Thank you so much for this video. One more question though, do you need to do this each time you start your keyboard and plug the usb stick? Or is it stored in the performance once for all? Cheers
How much space is there? Can load samples from an external source? You can make multisample instruments on the Montage and MODX but it seems there's only 1gb of storage? Are they mad?!
Hello: I tried to load a .wav file (655 Kb / 44.1 kHz) in a performance (AWM2) of MODX 8 and when it goes to load it from the USB, it tells me that the sampler is too short ???. Could you help me? Thanks and regards.
Is there a way of setting the Montage a semitone down in global mode? i want to turn keyboard power on and off and it loads up a semitone down without me having to do it manually every time 🙄 my previous Motif ES and Fantom X8 has this, and so all my other keyboards.. I can’t believe you can’t do this on a flagship keyboard like a Yamaha 🥺😳
Helpful vid. But the problem I have is it doesn't play the whole sample. It seems to behave like a drum hit. It plays, then quickly fades out. Even if I hold the key. Is there any way I can tell it to play the whole duration of the WAV? (Ideally without holding the key down.) Thanks.
Absolutely, you have to change the decay and release times. I often trigger 3 minute backing tracks from just one press of a key. Let me know if you're stuck on how to do this.
@@MichaelTanMusicThanks. I did try upping the release but no change. I'll try decay also. It seems a really strange design choice that it should not play the entire length of the sample. Why would it assume I want it to play the first second of it then fade out?
@@duketranslucent3rd I just figured this out. Michael is right ... you do have to mess with the decay and release times. That just allows the whole sample to play. But even when I did that I had to hold the key down for the whole time. There is another button you have to push! If "Rcv Note Off" is ON, turn OFF. I had to delete my sample and re-do it with this Off. Will work once this parameter is disabled.
The "New Waveform" option on my MODX has suddenly disappeared! The MODX definitely recognizes the usb I've plugged in but it won't let me import anything. I've been using mine for imported samples all the time, I don't know why it suddenly won't let me anymore...
ahh that sounds really annoying.. not sure i can help. i never know in these situations whether i’m doing something wrong, or whether it’s a bug (in which case i’m wasting my time trying to solve it).
How can I import a longer sample and just trigger it with one key? I got a sample loaded this way but I have to hold the key down the whole time to get it to play. Must be doing something wrong!

Ciao. È possibile impostare nello strumento solo i suoi desiderati? Oppure se carico tramite USB nuove librerie è possibile eliminare successivamente solo i suoni che non interessano per non occupare memoria?
Michael Tan! Can we load the other sounds sample into montage like the way you did or it just only works for Drum samples ? Please instruct !!!!! Thank you
Using an "Init Drum" part, you can upload any WAV file you want. But, the way I've done it in this tutorial is mainly for single (non-pitched) samples. I'll be doing a tutorial soon on how to create a pitched instrument using samples, and how to import instruments from other synths / keyboards.
Is it possible to edit the tempo of the sample so it matches my performance? I tried tempo sync but doesn't seem to do anything I can notice. Is it better to edit the sample tempo in something like Wavepad first before then importing?
Michael Tan The Montage didn’t recognize my drum samples. They are WAV format purchased from Loop Loft. I was able to load the Bosendorfer piano’s, but no drum samples.
@@MichaelTanMusic it was great to have a tutorial, uts just one month i own modx. Its just an audio phrase of few seconds that have to repeat for all the song during live.
Replace it with a new sample, as shown in this video, and the INIT snare drum sample shouldn't play any more. Also, you might need to set the key-range so that only the one key is active. (also shown in the video)
