This is a great bike, period! Super fun, super reliable, super priced by a leading manufacturer..what else do we need. As for the switches, may I say to you sir that Yamaha builds 12 million bikes per year! The answer to your comments is "gloves", we are riding with gloves, we need big switches to feel them and operate them. The bike is made for a wide audience with different needs style and knowledge 😉 Other than this your video is good 👍
Love what they’ve done in the redesign and more power but that front headlight ay is just not winning me over..yet..I still prefer the 2020 look over all..
Nice review! I agree on that the bike is so much fun to ride! :D You are not the only one i heard complaining about the buttons / "old school switch gears" on it - but what would you have prefered instead?

You'll honestly probably get into more trouble, might be naked but will do every bit of 140 in a hurry and doesn't like to keep both wheels on the ground so...
Still looks fugly though! The TFT is way too small [for my eye sight anyway], the fuel tank is also too small [only 14 ltr], cheap switchgear, some unsightly cabling and the side panels are missing! It's such a shame really as the motor is obviously tremendous. Now with an improved frame and suspension I was really hoping Yamaha would drastically improve the looks. Ah well there's always the new XSR900 [if they release one] to look forward too.
I prefer actual buttons over stupid (Triumph) PCB electronic switches which have absolutely no feel at all. The look on these Yamaha buttons could use some fine tuning but I'll take a proper mechanical switch over a circuit board switch any day. I just hope they'll make an XSR 900 with the SP tech.
This bike has some serious competitors. It's a big claim that this fugly out does them. Has to be a group test to see who takes the crown. My money's on the Street Triple RS!
You would loose your money. Both the KTM890R and the MT09SP are better bikes The Yamaha would be the most reliable and far better to live with than either
@@Steve-motorcycles Yup! The only thing the Street Triple RS is better at is as a dedicated track day bike. But as a street bike, it doesn't come close to the MT-09 SP.
My man really said "it's gonna cause problems to its competitors because it's got the looks". No. I'm sure it's a fantastic bike but I can't have that in my garage I would be ashamed everytime I lay my eyes on it. And I can't get drunk before getting on it to ease the process, as I can with other pleasures in life
I’m hoping they hurry up and bring out a 2022 version out soon, hopefully with better looks. Yes Yamaha are trying to be different with unconventional looks, but let’s face it, most of us don’t like it. I believe that if the majority doesn’t like something then there’s something wrong with it, so Yamaha should listen. It’s only esthetic, not mechanical, so it shouldn’t be much of a problem.
Believe it or not "the most of us" u are referring to tell that the look is growing on them. Including myself, it definitely did take some time to get used to it. But i dont think its that horrible. Saw it in person and I think that was the decider for me. Looks completely different in person.
Good for you@@Steve-motorcycles In all honesty, I’m waiting to see the bike in person. Maybe the look might grow on me. I do own a 2018 SP and am not looking to ditch it for the newer version soon. Only grip I had with my bike was the stock handlebars. The grip angle just didn’t suit me and there was a vague feeling that the front was too light. That didn’t give me much confidence. Then I changed the bars to aftermarket LSL X0 bars which are slightly straighter and lower. What a difference! It is now so much better and has that planted front feel I wished for. Yes the fueling at the start of the rev range could be better, but it’s not that much of an issue. So, the previous SP wasn’t at all a bad bike. Quite capable in fact for what it is. Maybe we should settle and learn to ride our own bikes before starting to drool on the next big thing. That’s what I keep telling myself at least :)
