Your channel rocks. The bike is great and my dealer has one upstairs waiting for the temps to crawl well above freezing. Not yet but we are within 30 days. I really like the look too. The transformer look suits it well. The gray paint looks awesome in person and those yellow wheels stun the viewer.
Good video. Well presented and kudos for the excellent production quality. Why do other bikes channels find this so difficult... Look forward to the group test!
Another well-composed video, Bike World. I'm far from being Yamaha's #1 fan, but I've had my eye on this one for some time now..it's definitely a cool bike; too bad we'll never be seeing them in the states... As always, thanks for the informative, interesting review!
Finally the first actual reviews. Have ordered a blue one. Already ordered aftermarket accessories (some equal the R1 parts) even before the bike is in this country (Netherlands). Hoping to receive it end of May. Can not wait.
Sounds like a goodun. Been saying for years they needed to adopt the cross plane engine for the FZ1 replacement, would like to see them develop a Fazer (or Tracer) version too although with a few of the options already available I could definitely enjoy this bike.
had an MT-01 back in 06/07 and this may just tempt me back into the MT fold...i think i would miss that thumping v-twin and better road presence that the 01 has though...
The bike industry, as a whole, is making it more and more difficult to pick and choose...once upon a time it wasn't such a terribly hard thing to do! Of course, I suppose that's a moot point for those with unlimited funds. Great Review!
How about the rear supsension? I have a mt09 and I really think its an awesome bike, the engine is really awesome. BUT the rear suspension doesnt always give a good impression, lately I had it 2 times that it pushed my rear wheel aside instead of taking the punches and keeping me on my line...
Can you customize the ride modes so A is 'track' mode with everything turned off including ABS? EBC HH pads would take care of the bite issues unless the master cylinder is a tiny diameter... wait is that a standard master cylinder, not radial? That might explain the initial bite and feel issues. The Gilles Tooling accessories look nice. Not a fan of the Transformers-inspired overall styling, though.
New to all this, could someone tell me what is the purpose of this bike when comparing it to the likes of the supersports such as the R1 and alike? What is a 'naked bike'?
@@MARKINAU8 His name is Luke Bowler. Think he left his presenting/bike testing job to go to work for Triumph. Think he's since left there. I randomly found he had set up a RU-vid channel with his girlfriend and had bought a sailboat to travel. That was pre pandemic. I've still got that bike bought on the back of this vid. Still a great bike. 👍
Hopefully v2.0 will remove all the problems you mentioned but doesn't lose that graphite/yellow wheels combo. How about yellow like FZ09, since it is MT, the colors won't be vibrant :(
I also have to agree, Bike World Reviews are the up and coming of journos. I don't understand why it's not huge!? Production: This video is like 60fps or some shit! Reviews : done in the eyes of the suitable buyer/rider, but with professional critique. Cheers team!
Love it!! Put off by the looks?? Nope! There are others but £9,999 is a huge carrot for a Bike this good. Booking my Test ride soon as I can get back out (Broken foot) Brilliant! Thanks for the little review.
So, I'm just sitting as a "only car driver", who thought about to get a license for bikes as well then and when, but...damn, this thing let me fall in love so badly, that I just want it!
Test rode yesterday and found the seat and suspension pretty hard tbh. I guess that can all be changed. Lovely bike - corners beautifully - beautifully balanced at slow speed.
The complex "Transformer" styling turns me off A LOT! And I REALLY wish it still had the upper 'half-fairing' as well. I currently have an FZ1, because of physical limitations from a near-fatal crash years ago. {a cager ran a stop sign..} And I do a LOT of riding with friends on cruisers, as well as Charity rides and Patriot Guard Funeral escorts ... in addition to Track Days and lots of mountain roads -- including "The Tail of the Dragon" at Deal's Gap, NC. So I LOVE the the versatility of the FZ1, and now this bike, but I do NOT like the 'cluttered' styling and no wind protection... Great lower and mid-range power...CHECK! Quick acceleration from lower and mid-speed curves...CHECK! More upright and comfortable riding position for my artificial hip and fractured back...CHECK! Just the right amount of electronics -- ABS and A-B modes -- without so much EXPENSIVE stuff...CHECK! Simplify some of the styling and add an upper wind-screen, and I am in 100%..!!
Finally!!! FZ1 should have used cross plane engine long time ago. BTW MT-10 is not the biggest inside MT range. MT-01 is. Why they used the same name for the rest I do not know..since they changed philosophy after MT-01 KODO. Anyway...nice review as always.
It's a naked so has a minimal amount of wind protection-- that's just the class of bike it is. I'd think some aftermarket windscreens will appear since it has cruise control... some people might try to sport tour on it.
