I had a 2017 FZ-09 and I have to say it was hands down the scariest bike to ride at high speeds but it would smoke my friends' GSXR600 and CBR600 up until I hit the limiter. 6 years riding now and the 09 has been the only bike to give me multiple tank slappers, becareful everyone. I currently have a Street Triple RS and it still feels fairly stable even at 150mph/241kmh~
@@Snotroggel453 yes, its wobbly bike. but not related to cylinders. it is related to frame geometry. it has very good handing but the downside is it is bit wobbly. you need to very gentle on handlebars and maintaing the perfect riding position to eliminate the wobble. definitely it is fun machine (i have 2021 model). the new model 2024 has sligtly different geometry to eliminate the wobbling.
@@Snotroggel453 or you could just put a steering dampner on and call it a day and stop crying about it 😂 These bikes are not meant to go 150 on the highway, just because something “can” don’t mean you should
Hey mate, how do you get your display to change colours like this? I have a 21 09 and mine stays green the whole time and would really like it to change like yours
@@noidontthinksololumm yes it is 🙄 that’s just as fast as any 600cc liter bike like the r6 (not talking about top end or top speed… these naked bikes thrive all over the rev range unlike most inline 4 cylinders that need to be revved high to make power I love the torque and power on the mt 09 and only a very old or very experienced rider would feel like they needed “more” power or that the bike was not quick enough… This bike (left bone stock because it don’t need anything aftermarket except maybe a full exhaust system and a flash if you really like to be heard but I like it stock Plus the features like wheelie control and slide control are awesome features to have as a noob
@@MotoWog did you tune it for the exhaust/air filter ? dyno number ? 11s/7s dragy is very good for a 100hp + bike mine still in the break in periode can't wait
yea MT09sp are good fun nice video not got many places i could do that or i would but i still ahve the limiter on mine so top speed will be about same i would think
Bc I didn’t press strong enough the gear selector … 100% driving mistake !! Sometimes even with the quick shifter if u don’t put enough power doesn’t change then gear ..!
@@exothermal.sprocket not really bro I’ve raced my mates 2018 mt09 and I gap him, you can even find a video around on RU-vid of one pulling away from a gen 2
@@filiplaskovski9993 As I said, more mid range power. That means the average time you spend making more power in the middle revs per gear, the more you win races.
gen 1 MT-09 is much harder once its tuned, and no longer restricted. the new 889cc engines arent as ''rough''. the computer is doing all the talking. the gen-1 is WAY more fun. ive ridden both gen 1 and 3, and the older gen is so much more exhilarating.
I think u need to check tyres air pressure and maybe balancing and adjusting wheels… I had same issue at the first days when I bought the bike and I fix it when i had correct air in my tyres ..
Check your rear shock, make sure the overall shock length (from eyelet to eyelet) is properly set to reduce squat under acceleration (pro-squat or anti-squat geometry), also your damping circuit needs to restrict compression speed. If you have the MT-09SP you'll have a higher quality rear shock, otherwise a rather basic stock one. But honestly, suspension equipment is most of the reason the MT-09 has speed wobble, that, and people don't realize how much their clinging to the bars holding on, induces that.
sure its the handlebars and not the windshield? i had a poor and cheap windshield and it started to "wobble" the bars at about 170+. replaced it with a EU-made one and the wobbels are gone.
My bike had a dna stage 2 air filter and mivv full exhaust.. with me riding around 95kilos my times was 100-200 low 7s And 1/4 mid low 11 with best 10.98 on negative 1,25% slope and 6.93 100-200 on same run ..
I dream of owning a machine of that magnitude one day,But for now ill have to make do with my 50cc chinese shitbox Stay safe out there and keep on riding
Most of us we started with something small… be happy and proud of what u have ..!! I missed the old days with 100cc bikes ride around with friend the best memories ever ..!! Be safe mate ..!!
@@ricochettheprotogen4928 that’s about u … and how confident ur.. plus what bikes u like.. all bikes are dangerous machines but we controlling them so doesn’t matter if it’s 125cc or 1000cc.. bikes need respect ! That’s my opinion .. after a 50cc I would recommend something around 300cc u can feel the difference on the power and they will keep u happy for a while .. I think that’s a good step
@@MotoWog Thank you,and in case you're interested in my exact situation, While id love to go from 50 to 300 right away the licenses im my country go 50,125,400, Anything above 400 for ages 15,16,18 and 20 respectively which makes me a little bit torn on if i should get a 125 or wait till im 18 and buy a bigger bike because well, while my 50 works fine for getting me from home to school and learning certain things, experimenting with its.low top speed it cant really drive anywhere further in a reasonably timed or comfortable way nor is it too capable off-road, both of those sectors being something i wanna get into,I already have picked a 125 adv that would auit my needs, think the confidence and ability is there too,im just not sure if it would benefit me to get it or wait till i can get a bigger machine
Yeah I typically don't go this fast untill i get onto the remote outback side roads, and even then i'll usually do a pass to make sure there's no cameras or traffic coming. Getting caught at this speed in AUS means losing your license for years (and probably the bike too).
That's how a drag race should work. Enough RPM to prevent bogging and achieve maximum thrust, enough clutch slip to achieve maximum thrust without pulling a wheelie. The stock slip/assist clutches make it really difficult to launch hard because the clutch just wants to clamp up solid the more torque you put into it.
@@CORBE13 I’m sure if you sat in rain mode or MAYBE mode 3 it could be beginner friendly. Most won’t though because of temptation and you could get better value out of a lower cost, lower power bike. Modes 1 and 2 are not beginner friendly at all
@@hendrxx_ it took me 2 seasons to go from 4>1 and the other settigns from 3>1 (still dont have balls to set it to OFF). as it was my first bike this was great option that you can "grow" with the different drivemodes. i can reocmmend this as first bike also due its low weight and great handling.
That acceleration is a sad thing to behold for a 900cc, to think that we have lost the R6R that was smaller displacement but way faster than this crappy new bikes Yamaha is coming out with.
Different bikes … I don’t think u can compare them ..!! But I think new Yamaha r9 for track days it will be much quicker then r6 bc there is power everywhere..!! Let’s see what’s happening
I have this bike atm as well as a long termer, it's good for wheelies but otherwise a horrible bike especially compared to the competition... Never quite rode a bike with suspension quite so bad... Handling is way too twitchy too because it's made for wheelies and wheelies only. Shame is that it isn't even particularly good for them because it's so unstable on the back wheel compared to some of the other bikes in the class, the Street triple stays dead straight like a peg by comparison. A fun bike but you can only enjoy it so long before all the fatal flaws start to show.
The Gen 3 is a far better bike in many ways, suspension, chassis stiffness, far better swingarm etc... but not necessarily in power output. Yes it does have aprox 5hp more plus more torque, and is also a few kilos lighter.. BUT... Yamaha have messed with the power output in 1st & 2nd gear... and IIRC 5th & 6th... or maybe its just 6th gear? not 100% sure.... possibly for Euro5 reasons? A ECU flash can remove them but IMO as stock there is no guarantee that it will be faster than a Gen 2... unless they did the same to the Gen 2. Someone please drag test both bikes..
@@paulhope3401 exactly what u said .. there is a lot of restrictions on gen 3 .. best 1/4mile with gen 3 mivv exhaust and dna air filter with 90kg driver(me) it was 11.0 sec with multiple passes
