I took a one out for a test ride 2 year's ago. Loved it. Only the brakes let it down.

@@DSR1YT I don't find the brakes lacking, I ride on the road, not a racetrack. They bed in after a time. It's hard to judge properly when discs and pads are brand new. I rarely use more than 1 finger to brake.

I got my MT10 new in 2016 for £9300 and at that price with the flaws it had it was an absolute steal. I waited for the new one but Yamaha asking upwards of 13k for much the same bike with all the same issues was the reason i had to move on to another brand/bike in the end. Wish they would put the cp4 motor into a tracer style sports tourer with 21ltrs.
@DSR1YT
@DSR1YT Год назад
Exactly, i thought the same when i got the 2017 model. Couldn’t believe it was 10k as there were 600cc’s for a few grand more. But now with that base price its not a great starting point to then start correcting its issues.

I bought and still own an original 2016 Fluro Grey MT10. Definitely the best bike I've ridden in 42 years of riding motorcycles. It helps I'm not a fan of tech on bikes, it's got just enough for not a lot to go wrong. I like that it can still scare. Still wheelie off the throttle at stupid speeds. Still take me in comfort across Europe (with many stops for fuel) and still be totally reliable at 31,000 miles. Not a fan of the new look with the daft acoustic vents or it's weird new front end look. I paid under £10K new, now that was a bargain.

I too had my MT10 at the near perfect point of mods for me, looked good, sounded good, worked well and had all the touring set up as well. Sad i got rid of it, however i can honestly say if you asked me to chose between the 10 and a Tuono, the Tuono would win every time. Not as comfortable but dam it puts a smile on your face. @@Banditmanuk I feel you, I sold my MT10 because Zoe had just passed her test and bought herself a 390 duke, didn't want to be egging her on to keep up with me on the 10, that's why I traded it in for something different, got the KTM 690 SMC, fancied a bit of sumpermoto life, that lasted 6 months as my fat ass couldn't get along with the seat, also I had a few issues with that 690, luckily she traded up to her MT07 at the same time as me so that's I moved on to the tuono at that point. Exactly, this may be low in BHP but who cares, if you've ridden one then you know its not about the HP its about the torque and man does this bike make its torque low down in the rev range, only other bike ive ridden so far that would beat this for torque is the Aprilia Tuono V4 factory. if you want to upgrade I can highly recommend that bike, ive done a few videos on the Tuono I owned. @SquireSCA
@SquireSCA Год назад
It's not too much power. In the liter class nakeds, its actually the least powerful. SuperDuke 1290R, Streetfighter V4, Tuono, Speed Triple RS and Zh2 are all more powerful, some by a wide margin... Bone stock, this bike is only cranking out somewhere around 136hp at the wheel. You need an ECU flash and at least a slipon to get to the 150 mark, and every other liter class naked is well above that in stock form...
@DSR1YT
@DSR1YT Год назад
I would rather see a new rider jump on the ZH2 with its smooth linear power curve and easy to handle throttle response. Over putting them on an MT10 in mode 1 and watch them struggle to handle its low end torque. Just because its not too much for you doesn't mean it won't be too much for others.

There will always be a market for naked bikes, and IMO the best Sunday bike for the UK, all the fun and more comfort, usually cheaper depending what brand you get and has less chance of getting you in trouble with the Po-Po.

A Tracer 1000 wouldn’t work because the CP4 is too fuel inefficient to be used in a touring bike. The new M 1000 XR would be a great choice when it comes out next year, but it will probably cost quite a bit more.

Got an S1000XR, 165 bhp, sport tourer, goes faster, handles better and brakes better than an MT10, aint no way that's too much power. I'd call it "just the right amount"

I also have a XR but if Yamaha finally got with the times and made a Tracer 1000 with that CP4 I'd be hard pressed to switch.

@@kugangles9860 Facts, Tracer 9 GT+ tech with a MT10 engine... hmmmm just hope they don't reuse their crappy brakes... And fix fuel economy...

Power is very subjective though isn’t it. Some people wouldnt ride an MT10 on power mode A because it’s ‘too much power’ and they feel they couldn’t handle it. I personally would only bounce between mode A and D if the wet stuff closed in. I like that fact it will catch you out if you aren’t careful when getting on the power, makes for a fun ride :)

@@DSR1YT I think there is a distinction between engine power and delivery. The XR's 165 bhp is perfectly managed by the riding modes. In rain you won't get full power in 1st and 2nd, and in 3rd TC will be hiding around the corner in case things to tits up, but if you're cruising on the motorway at 70 in 6th gear, rain does little to no limitation to the power and will allow you to make swift overtakes. Yet if you wanna wheelie over every slight crest you find in the road in 3rd gear, Dynamic Pro has your back. Power is the same, although I think rain does indeed cap out ~120-130 bhp, delivery is different.
