Accelerations of twin Yamaha F200s followed by twin Two-Stroke V6 200s. Which one do you like more? Boat is a Gulfcraft Touring 36', doing approximately 30-35 knots OT. Enjoy
I ran the absolute shit out of my 2-stroke Yamaha on 100:1 Amsoil. When I sold it the thing still looked like new under the engine cover and the next guy’s still running the shit out of it. Yamaha stole a lot of OMC technology and used it to great success in their engines.
Worthless on gas tho i only remember a little bit about the 2 stroke days the last 2 stroke my dad had was a 75 yamaha 2 stroke dont know the year but thats all i remember
That is what I'm saying Zach--yeah, they are cleaner and quieter. Of course Zach, you also got these new "enhanced 2 strokes" that get the same mileage and cleanliness as the 4 strokes. They are not as quiet (I have a 4 stroke) but they have better hole shot); what I don't know Zach, is how well they hold up over time--I hear they are very reliable but have not owned one myself. What I do know is my Yamaha 4 stroke is so quiet--and as you say clean--that I love it. It just sips fuel, on my 20 foot skiff, it just amazes me how little fuel it uses, even at WOT (wide open throttle)
+Jmichael Isbell nothing can beat a DFI 2 stroke... bypassing the crankcase and atomizing the fuel directly into the combustion chamber will make them even more efficient than a 4 stroke in 85% of cases. Not to mention DFI engines are lighter, and usually make more power (certainly more torque). As for longevity: 4 strokes are great, but so are 2 strokes. Just depends on how you take care of them, that's all.
I prefere 2 strokes. They are cheaper, more durable, very easy to maitence, and has a better sound and smell than 4 strokes. P.d.: what a nice sound of those 200 old yamahas!
Paul Coenen I traded in my 2-stroke Yamaha for a 115 EFI 4-stroke Yamaha. It was heavier, and lacked the bottom end power to get my fully loaded bass boat out of the hole and on plane quickly. Yes, it was quieter than my 2-stroke but that was the only benefit of it. All my 2-stroke Yamaha ever required was top quality synthetic two stroke mix and lower unit oil changes every few seasons. I never even had to put plugs in the thing.
Jerry 的釣魚打龜日常 was turning my 2 stroke 115 @ 5,800 just today. Loves it, sounds great; until you compare it to my V8 Evinrude twisting about 7,000. Now that is a sound you’ll never forget!!
hey I am looking at a 1999 doral bizia 22 footer with a matching 150 stroke yami with about 400 hours on it . it is efi can anyone tell me if that's a lot of hours and how the fuel mileage compares to carberated . the boat itself weighs 2700 so I was wondering if I could be ok off floridas coast , and what I can expect roughly for gallons per hour or miles per gallon . I cant even find much info on the boat itself . but was told there quite well made I diont know if there is wood in them foam etc but at 4500 for an offshore boat that's a good price if it isn't a money pit . I hear the yamahas are great but not sure about efi , and the hours thanks
The 2 strokes had way better take off. Im looking to get a new 75hp outboard and have been looking around. I was really hoping to like the new 4 strokes but i haven't been impressed at all with them. I really wanted a yamaha but they only sell 4 strokes here now. I guess ima have to go with an etec or optimax.
and what about the price-difference between 2 and 4-stroke engines? How much is the 2-stroke 200hp engine price an 4 stroke 200hp engine price in that place where you live? What is the fuel cost?
Алексей Ляхов well considering there is no HPDI 200 this year, your question is unanswerable unless we are comparing used prices. If you're looking for a good 200 horse motor get the four stroke inline 4 F200. not much heavier than the v6 HPDI with 4 stroke economy and quietness
Just put a new power head on my 2 stroke 130 Yamaha vs buying a new 4 stroke, which I could easily afford. 2 strokes have less maintance, weigh less, provide better range of power and just sound better IMO.
Oyster punts here in south australia all run big four strokes. More economical, amazingly reliable and up to 5000 hours before rebuild. the two strokes are stuffed long before then
The funny thing is that I see WAY more Yamaha 4 stk outboards(part motors) available on Craigslist than older 2 stks. I'm not saying a 4 stk sucks but they seem to blow up a lot faster. I bet we won't see the same yam 4stk on a RU-vid video in 28 years.
I personally prefer the amazing old OMC sound. Nothing beats that sound in the boating world I say, loud, but very loveable. But 2 stroke ofr sure here!
I dont understand why people want they outboards to be quiet? But yet they have flowmasters on their trucks..lol...I love the loud growl of the old carbed vmax motors...sounded like driving a hotrod
Nah, you need to put some Mercury Racing 260s or 280s on there. THOSE are the two stroke V6's that'll knock your socks off. Depending on the year, they weigh less than 400lbs, and when you dip the prop/exhaust up out of the water and rev it, they sound like a formula 1 car.
I like the four-stroke noise a lot better. I'm aware of the reasons for existing of two-strokes, but I've always thought they sound like high-power farts. >_>
I prefer the sound of the 4 stroke F200. That burbling 6 pot sounds amazing right across the rev range. I don't think the two strokes were running in sync.
I own one, repowered from an F300. No comparison, the G2 is just a much better motor. Got almost roughly a 27% increase in fuel economy over the four stroke and the performance is crazy. Yeah it has the power steering and auto trim but still a lot less parts than a 4 stroke. I don't think their days are numbered, I think 4 strokes days are numbered. Optimax is another two stroke option that IMHO is better than four strokes in pretty much every way
b tippa RIGHT.... I'll give you 15 dollars an engine. You are full of crap. Show me where somebody(not you) offered you 5 dollars for the motor. If you are for real I really will give u 20 per motor. But you are talking shit.
b tippa If 4 strokes didn't burn any oil we would not say an electric vehicle helps emissions. Please close you're mouth and stop giving FALSE info. 4 strokes DO burn oil and pollute the environment. But please whatever you have to tell yourself to justify you're 4 stk purchase
b tippa evinrude had one batch of bad motors and that was the v6 fight motors made in the early 2000s. The first and second gen e tecs are fantastic Motors. Hands down.
Those old 2 strokes look tired and they don't have the stones for that boat. However, they sound fantastic while the new motors have nothing. That's my opinion at least. 2 strokes are the better motors IMO.
@cats40: I like Suzuki too, very quiet and has no mechanical sound, just the engine noise, which is nice. However Yamaha simply beats Suzuki in the sound department IMHO.
Also the biggest marine shop in Australia told me there shop is full of secondhand four stroke outboards people by them then don't like them they go back to a 2 stroke
Farmer2492 Yep I always see Yamaha 2010+ on Craigslist 5 times more than 1992 2 strokes. There are plenty of old 2 strokes from 1980s running great but most 4 strokes I see 2010+ are listed as parts motor. The direct oil lube to cylinders is probably the biggest reason. Too many sensors and oil sump must lead to a ton of parts motors.
like yeah ram 1500 is a good start but its louder less horsepower and burns more gas than the ford F-150 platinum wich is reparible and easier to service and quieter and better range and fuel econemey
Cobialicious Fishing Team seems not true, at cruising about 20 kts most of EFI 4 stroke now can done 6 gallon fuel per hour or below with 175-200hp. For this result, even latest EFI 2 stroke like Evinrude E-tec, Yamaha HPDI or Mercury Optimax still having 2-3 gallon per hour difference.
+georgio m that's correct, the faster a 2 stroke goes, the less the unburned fuel has a chance to escape out of the exhaust. there is no way a 4 stroke can quite match the efficiency of a DFI 2 stroke. direct injection, with the fuel atomized, combined with less weight and more power than a 4 stroke is proof
twyn v6 200 hp yamaha melhor motor dois tempos que fizeram até hoje.se afundar tirar da água na hora tirar as velas bater Vieira até tirar a água do seu interior pega na hora
Everyone saying 2 strokes sound better have never worked on the water. When you are on a crab boat for 8 hrs everyday you would much rather listen too a 4 over a 2 stroke. Not to mention the 4 strokes are way better on fuel. Ill trade a little less power rather then have to listen to those loud old 2 smoker all day.
Ime commercial as well, ive just changed from 2 to 4 stroke for fuel reasons . Fuel is crazy money where I live, but if it was cheaper I would have 2 stroke Yams back they never let me down over thirty years. Considering going to E Tec.
