Best value for money. Psr sx 600 has all same function as psr sx700 and 900. Just the difference in touch screen and those two have more sound but styles are almost the same. Im happy with psr sx600

Yes, it was worth this money. Even just to play "Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You" or "La Cumparsita" tango. Having played PSR-27 form 90's, imagine what step up is this. I am super happy.

The SX-series(particularly the SX900)...would have been a nice offering from Yamaha,for me to seriously consider....if it weren't for the existence of the Korg Nautilus.The Nautilus 61 key is $200 cheaper than the Yamaha SX900 and absolutely blows the SX900 out of the water.I know that arranger workstations are generally more expensive, due to all of the extra auto-accompaniments...but even still,the Nautilus does SO MUCH more than any other keyboard in this price range...by far!

Hello Jeremy. On PSR-SX600 keyboard, it is possible to singing in tune with vocal effect ?

The truth is that the SX600 could have been a great keyboard, however (by design) the mixed bag voices and the missing step sequencer hold it back. What I mean: in many categories there are no good (just ok) sounds e.g. bass, strings, main piano. Step sequencer is just one screen in the style/song sequencer that could have been easily implemented. So, if you are trying to create some music, you will probably get annoyed/be looking for voices to download. If you need a solo violin/cello or a good finger bass or dynamic strings. Also, the voices don't play very dynamic. So, with the SX600 Yamaha is really giving you a preview or a sample of what to expect from an arranger. Eventually you will upgrade. The audio interface, however, is really something you will be missing dearly in the SX700/900, because it speeds up recording ( e.g. with an iOS device and Cubasis) and is very convenient.

Great review Jeremy. Being a pro series keyboard its surprising that the mic input is not an xlr 1/4 combi jack. An interesting comparison would be between the Yamaha PSR-E473 and the PSR-SX600, given that the latter is 3X the cost, explaining what significant differences are.

Wonder why no app for tablet over usb? Have the screen (tab) as big as you want and control settings as parameters via tab.

Actually, ended up cancelling our order of the SX600. The super articulated pianos, the upgraded keybed and the bigger screen (and more kid friendly touch screen) made me change my mind, so I put in a few hundred extra out of my own pocket to get the SX700 instead. For me, as a hobby musician through many years now, the difference is worth it. I spent countless hours in DAW environments testing out different piano models (with round robins etc.), and I know how much difference better sounds can do to playing enjoyment. The SX700 seems like a really good compromise, without having to sell a kidney to afford it.

Hi Jeremy, I just bought the psrSX600. I gave my PSR E363 to my 11 yr. old grandson. He started playing piano 6 months ago. His music teacher said that my grandson is the most gifted student she has ever had in over 20 yrs. So I'm hoping he will enjoy the 363 keyboard to explore his talent. I am overwhelmed with the psrSX600! So many voices and styles to choose that I'm having trouble deciding what arrangements go best with certain songs. This is indeed a work station! . I also have the old PSR 3000 which I use in church. It's wonderful and easy to play. Is there an app you sell that can guide me to pick out voices & styles to match songs? Thank-you kindly for your help.

Great review. Already purchased the SX600 (should receive next week), so for me this is just a great walkthrough of some of the features, and some of the shortcomings. Got quite a few instruments myself (software and hardware), but this one is our family instrument, so the approximate 800 usd we paid is already pretty much the max at the moment. Thus, some of the features available on the higher models are out of the current price-range. Nice to see that the SX600 gets a few unique features as well though. Cheers!

Since I calculate everything in 1999 (left column): PSR 340 is E363 or E463? PSR 540 (16tr seq) is SX600 PSR 640 is SX700 PSR 740 (almost PSR 8000) is SX900 ( almost Tyros 5) PSR 9000 is Genos Is that correct? So Yamaha still has the same product management concept.

Dear Jeremy, I am in my early 60s and not very computer-savvy. I have owned a Yamaha PSR 3000 for the past 20 years, and the display light has been blown. Anyhow, to replace it, I ordered the Yamaha PSR SX 600. I am still within the 14-day return period. No, I do not want to create my own styles or anything like that; I want to find styles suitable for well-known songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s created by experts. For example, in PSR 3000, if I wanted to play "I Just Called to Say I Love You", I could look under 'Music Finder' and play the "Called to Say" beat, which would be ideal for that song. Is there such a song bank in SX600? Please advise me which new Yamaha keyboard would suit me best.

Hey do you know if this keyboard has a harmonisation feature? by that I mean normally you play chords with left hand and single note on the right but with harmonisation it would play two notes on a single key and depending if you play minor or major with the left the key on the right hand would also reflect it automatically

I am looking to buy my next keyboard and I am thorn between this one and the Medeli AX10 (there is also its clone sold by Thomann but with less memory). Watched all your videos, but still not sure. Need to say is that I care more about how the included instruments sound (piano mostly) than number of instruments (many of which we end up never to use anyways). Another great feature is firmware update possibility (or not) and new instruments/styles being possible to add. Thanks

Indeed it’s an excellent instrument, however the only gripe is the size of the screen as it could’ve been an inch or two larger. I’m purchasing a PSR SX 600 for portability as I already own a stunning Genos and it’s too big to take out so the 600 will come in very handy.

I think you are the only one that highlight the important feature that keyboardist wants to know on youtube. Very informative. I dont know that this keyboard are so powerful at this price. Is that possible for you to share the factory styles so that S or SX series owner can enjoy the new style on the sx600?

I'm looking to upgrade my PSR I425 after 10 years and this is easily the best channel for comparing beginner and budget keyboards. I mostly play melodies at home and ocassionally live with a band. I don't really use styles extensively, maybe because none of them totally fit my style but a style editor might help me. I am mostly concerned about key quality and and ability to edit and add good tones. I'm also just getting into recording so an inbuilt audio interface would be great. I don't use in-built recording options that much if at all. So what keyboard would you recommend under a 1000 dollars? I feel I won't use the full features of an arranger and a workstation might be better. I also find 61 keys a tad limiting so 76 would be better. I'm currently looking at the SX-700 or 600, the Korg PA-600 or 300 and the Roland XPS-10 and 30.

Mine finally arrives after 3 weeks waiting. On first day, I test out with all the basic functionalities including all the extra styles (Western, Asian) I got and used on my Tyros 3. All seem to work fine. Load MIDI songs I created on Tyros, this SX600 play them nicely, cannot tell the difference between Tyros playing and SX600 playing. On second day, I setup MIC with my preferred vocal effect and do some audio recording, again recording quality for vocal is on par with Tyros 3. I also setup the first Assignable button to control the volume of the right hand part of the keyboard. I did the same thing on Tyros and this helps to match the keyboard volume with rythm volume. The second button is for reverb effect of right hand keyboard. Pretty straight forward, although there are few operations that are not the same as Tyros3. DIRECT ACCESS is one good example. The small screen does not bother me as I can read it very clearly. The up/down/left/right button for navigating the screen is kind of awkward to start with, but after a while, I get used to it. Why I bought this SX600 while already have a Tyros3? It's for gigs in small areas, such as private home parties, not so major show. Tyros3 is for larger places and more important shows (in large hall or restaurants). And my students can use this when coming for lessons instead of using my Tyros3. I use to have a KORG PA-50 for these small gigs, the trouble is that it does not have enough styles I need. It certainly does not load Yamaha styles. So glad that SX600 has the TEMPO/RESET button that the really old PA-50 already had (3 layers too, SX600 only has two layers). I truly recommend this SX600 for folks that do not want to spend 2X that much for an advanced keyboard. Do not feel restricted by the number of styles, there are literally thousands of Yamaha styles out there to buy. I will try ACCENT and UNISON next to see if these features are useful for me.

Yamaha psr-sx 600 or djx 670??

I only dislike about Sx700 and sx 900 they have rubber buttens. But 600 has plastic buttons. Why can't yamaha put plastic buttons for good keyboards? Sx900 doesn't have a professional premiere look with out plastic buttons.

The SX600 is like the child of S670 and a S775 with the improved UI of SX series. As usual, Yamaha still left out practical improvements like the better SA piano sound, third upper layer, and larger screen. Maybe we'll have to wait for the next revision for those to trickle down on this price range. But I appreciate the new features for this new entry in the 600 series, namely the style creator, USB audio interface and the USB Audio Recorder. To be honest, I don't care about the new mic feature. I can't wait to see Korg's PA response on this. And maybe Casio too.

Basically PSR-S775 wrapped in PSR-S670's compact body and new button layouts. Still, it's a good improvement of Yamaha entry level arranger model. If only SA piano sounds and the new electric pianos were also carried over, it would be even better

Whats the audio interface feature?

I have sx600. do keys have unequal/uneven height? some keys higher or lower maybe about 0.5mm. has anyone experienced something similar?
