The weather has cleared up a bit and we were finally able to take our R3 Superbike to the track for another test. All the adjustments we made last week definitely helped a lot because the bike performed phenomenally. However, there are still a few things we would like to change, test, and compare so stay tuned!

Man you’re riding the piss out of that thing! Clearly better in the corners than the other riders, you carry so much more speed coming in and throughout the turn. Very cool
@SteezeN
@SteezeN 6 лет назад
Jason Smith maybe I’m just a noob but your better off carrying less speed in a 1000 into a corner & stand the bike up as soon as possible to sling shot out the corner. Where in smaller bikes it’s better to carry higher speed into the corner since they can’t just shot out like a 1000 can. I ride both a 600 & a 1000 & I’m sure both can carry the same corner speed but it’s better to come in slow on the 1000 & stand the bike up as quickly as I can

ZX10R Ant maybe but this dude is another level rider than the other guys on the track with him that day. Put em all on the same bike and he’ll lap em eventually
@SteezeN
@SteezeN 6 лет назад
Jason Smith you think so the zx10r dude look decent. I would imagine it’s easier to push the smaller bikes to the limit & are more confident inspiring . Not saying he’s not better rider but the guy on the liter bike wasn’t slow . I wouldn’t be surprised if the pilot of the r3 gets better lap times on his r3 than he does when rides a super bike or a 600cc on certain tracks.

After 15 years off, you've inspired me to ride again. I used to love spanking liter bikes on my gsxr600. Always wanted an r6 (since before they were even available). An r3 should be more fun. Great run.

Agreed ! I had the 1998 R1 and absolutely loved it.....that was over 10 years ago.....hot the itch again....went to dealership for perhaps an R6......took a peek at the R3 and quickly went on RU-vid & Google to see it.....was impressed and ended up with a 2020 R3 !!! I am very happy.....my budget was 10,000 dollars.....now I have 5K left for the cheapest 2020 Yamaha WaveRunner that cost 7,500 so I am almost there.....to think that I was gonna get R6 for 12,000 dollars hahahha !!!! All in all....not the fastest R3.....but its alot of Fun.....I think I will add that 1,000 dollar package in 2 years when yhe bike becomes boring!

Yep, the R3 rider is skilled, but the R3 will be significantly lighter than the Kawasaki. You can definitely see it coming up to the corners and going round. He was comfortably able to go round him on the outside.

You don’t want corner speed on a liter bike you wants to turn as fast as possible so you can put the power down unlike 600cc and lower you want to hold on to more speed into and out of a curve and carry the curve longer. Yea with a liter bike you just want to point and shoot as fast as possible so your not waist I g time in corners.

Wow. This is what a call a rider. That wasn't about just horse power but track experience along with know your motorcycle and it's limits. And by the way those limits were push. The lean angles were at their max. But with good tires and well weight distribution anything is possible. It just takes a lot of practice. Thanks to this video I no longer see the 300's like a beginner bike. This was awesome.

Good job bud. The best tip I got racing smaller bikes (350 2 stroke) was tune, tune and tune again. Simple fact is most don't bother much and if you work on tuning for every track and weather it really pays off, gives you that edge out of corners that keeps you in front on tight tracks.

The line difference of the smaller bike (R3) and bigger bike is clearly seen. This track is smaller bike friendly with the arcs and turns very friendly towards smaller bikes than bigger bikes. But great ride man. Couple of close calls, if it was a race, I can see the rider being more aggressive on the curves and overtaking the bigger bikes.
@TSTindustries
@TSTindustries 4 года назад
Canepa has the track record there currently at 1:12 and change on a 1100cc SB. I have done 18 flats there on 2015 R1 in SS trim. We were riding a 24 pace...much slower. Anyway, this was not really meant to put down anyone's riding style/abilities...just to illustrate our bike's capabilities and how much fun we have with little bikes. I actually don't consider those moments close calls...I backed off in time to make it safe for both of us. Riding in expert group you have to be able to get close sometimes, especially on a small bike, otherwise you don't get to pass them.
@GiriRam
@GiriRam 4 года назад
@@TSTindustries I just pointed out the line difference it takes for the bigger bikes and smaller bikes. Heavier bikes with bigger power will require a different line on the turns. Riding a bigger bike on these tracks would be amazing too. It would help you practice better. Wish I had a track like this at my place. This is fun. Look at the turns and the pickups and how amazing it will be to ride with others here.

Just like the old days having a RS 250cc two stroke on an open track day with a superbike in tow. That is some exciting riding there my friend, you have opened my eyes to what the new 300cc class can do. I would like to point out that an orange t-shirt or meatball shirt, designates a first time track day rider or a newbie. Easily spotted by aggressive left hand corners and loads of hesitation in right hand ones.

It fun to dog a few liter riders. But in my opinion there many factors to account for what we saw. 1)Who knows how hard the other riders are willing to go. 2)Some tracks are about keeping the momentum up and other tracks are power tracks. Eg let’s see what happens when at Road America or Atlanta. 3)Corp or business money vs weekend warrior. I don’t put a whole lot into this. We’ve all seen 600’s spank a liter bikes before on track days. Nothing new. Some ride hanging it all out there, while others are at 80%. Campaign the R3 in the upper classes and get back to me.

@@TSTindustries you r not biased bro...with half the price of cbr650r, r3 is pure gem....it is giving tough time to superbikes, seen a lot of vdos....gem of an engine, it clocks 200kmph being a 321cc....what else we want as a street rider

With a 120 hp deficit that is pretty much the only practical plan of attack

The BN6 R6 overtook the ZX10R. This makes me happy. The R3 is a stunning performer though.

to me this doesn't show that the r3 is a better track bike it only shows that the rider of the r3 is a better rider then the people on the higher cc bikes. but cool work you guys have done to an r3, as a person wanting to get an r3 for track fun this gives me something to look forward too :D

The purpose of this build isn't to show that the R3 is a better bike, but to demonstrate that the R3 can be just as capable as its larger counterparts.

That's our fault. We wanted to test out this theory and it flopped. My geometry was also off. The next test will be interesting for sure. I will be racing at Roebling at the end of the month. We will see how I stack up against other 300 and 400cc bikes

Was that an N2 logo on at CR's shirt? Awesome Bike and riding. Keep up the good work!!!
@TSTindustries

Nah, that CR is not from N2. They don't do any events at Jennings. That was a FSUPD shirt. They have a state sponsored program that takes people off the streets and gets them on track to reduce street huliganism.

Never hate on the little bikes..theyll embarrass you. Gotta start small before big. Plus little ones are easily to run for extended periods of time..lighter, easier to throw into turns etc.
