@@JinKazama92 Could it possibly be your computer? I've yet to receive any other complaints about the quality of the video. If it's the landscape blurring as I ride, that's simply my shutter speed set to the standard for my frame rate.

I rode the R7 and R3 back to back and I was more impressed by the R3, such a fun little bike to ride, Yamaha did a great job with this motorcycle.

Just upgraded to a Cbr600rr from an r3 and the r3 is so much easier to commute on (other than the freeway) the r3 is the way to go

Qaib Haib Tshaj at around 80 mph it hovers around 9-10k rpms, which is fine for short distance, but almost no one goes the posted 65mph limit on the highway. So you’ll be sitting at high Rpms for a long period of time. It also isn’t very planted. Also, bigger bikes have steering stabilizers.

My sentiment exactly. My R3 was awesome for commuting or even a 10 minute jaunt up the highway. But i was doing a 45 minute commute to school with it, going 80 on the highway. I also took it on a 2000 mile weekend to Tennessee (from CT). That got me immediately looking for some sort of upgrade to a sport touring style bike. (but i think i spent less than $100 on gas for that long trip, so thats where the R3 was awesome)

@@IriTrev My personal opinion is if you do a lot of freeway go down a tooth on the rear sprocket maybe 1 more if you can deal with the 0-60 lag. would bring that RPM down a bit but you're acceleration would suffer heavily not sure if that little engine can hang with that. I live in Long Beach and travel the freeways here all the time its either grid locked in the afternoon or everyone is doing 85-90 on their way to work in the morning. Im commuting on an FZ09 a few days a week which is brutal with no wind screen, but I still want an R3 because in the city riding seems like it would be amazing.

@@DukeOfDC My first bike was a Ninja 300, i really wanted the R3 but I needed ABS and back in 2017 i don't think they offered it. Loved the Ninja 300 though, learned so much on that bike in the year I owned it. The new rider I sold it too absolutely loves it and says he shreds around Baltimore on it.

Back in 2015, i walked into a showroom & saw the Gen1 bike. Asked for a test ride & booked one on the same day. Perfect as a daily commuter. Sporty engine but very forgiving. It's the best of 2 worlds as i can still ride it like a sportsbike (revving happily to 12,500rpm redline) or cruise all day without any aches & pains. It's not perfect in terms of outright power & budget suspension, but it'll do the job. Minor mods i did were the brake & clutch levers, upgrade to better tyres, K&N air filter & Akra slip-ons (stock pipes sounded like a sewing machine, lol) 4 years on & it still rides as good as day 1. This one's a keeper for me. Just sharing my thoughts as a 25year rider.

2 years into ownership of a ninja 300 here. Gave myself 'permission' to buy something else after my first year (10k miles ridden). Haven't really felt the need however. I've ridden several other motorcycles and honestly none have seduced me. My little 300 is everything I need and nothing I don't.

I got a 2015 R3 4 years ago and absolutely love this little bike. It is definitely the perfect city bike in my opinion. My 2006 R6 is my highway bike, for long trips, but when I hit the city on it I miss the R3 every time.

Just call it a motorcycle or a smaller motorcycle. Some people riding these are coming down from a larger bike because it's light with good mileage and wind protection. Those who grew up with 2-cycle bikes know that size means nothing.

Yeah, these reviewers always calling smaller displacement bikes "beginner bikes" just sound like idiots. It's just another motorcycle that anyone who likes it can buy it and ride it if they so choose. They need to reword their stupid cliche.... say something like "These also do great for beginner riders due to their smaller displacements".

Hey thanks for the video I use to ride back in early 2000 until I was in a wreck and am looking at riding again. I have had 3 surgeries on my right wrist so was wondering about this bike to get the feel for riding again and I think you have helped me with my choice. Like I said I am looking to start riding again and did not want to get a big bike to start out until I know how my wrist will act.

I'm totally going bonkers trying to decide what to buy for my first bike. SO many RU-vid videos! This one, though... with that bird at 7:31? The R3 has kyb forks 37mm. I have a fully adjustable ohlins cartridge kit in it as for the power I have gyrt pistons cams and a race ecu removed the air box and run trumpets. Running brembo 4 pot calipers so it actually stops as the oem brake is like a bicycle brake. I had it dynoed 48 hp at the rear wheel same as the ninja. 400 Rear sets steering damper etc etc etc. As a entry level bike it's fantastic best mini sports bike on the market. But once you take it to another level = spending money on it. Its a game changer.

I think beginner-friendly works as a term for these bikes. the implication that 300ccs are beginner bikes implies that people who've been riding for a while don't still choose to have a 300 as their primary bike and that's quite wrong. they're light and flickable, an absolute joy on the backroads, and they get like 70MPG + insurance is almost nothing. and you actually get to rev them out beyond 3rd gear without being 85+ MPH on backroads.

Call it a 'small capacity sportbike' as it's not merely a beginner's bike. I love my CBR1000RR as much as the next guy but these late small capacity superbikes are fantastic. The Z400 I particularly like because being a naked the focus is less on the issue of speed. I reviewed the R3 also and what a fantastic bike and really better than outgoing R3 which this is really based on. Love your review man, keep on bringing it!

One brilliant bike and the R3 is really easy even for a beginner's bike. I highly recommend the R3. You will love this Yamaha. If one buy a to slow bike you get quickly bored. The R3 will keep any rider happy, novice or experienced rider.

I have a 2015 R3 with Corsa II tyres, Ktech fully adjustable rear shock and K Tech linear springs and fully adjustable fork Cartridges. It's a lot firmer than stock but it now stops a lot quicker and holds a line through corners like nothing else I've ridden. Still have stock exhaust as it's good enough and a full system or slip on doesn't make any noticeable difference like suspension and tyre changes.

I actually am amazed at the sounds of it. Doesn't sound weak or anemic at all. Sounds like a legit sport bike. Unlike the Nina 300 and 400... they both sound terrible.

Hey Duke I had a question. I'm a new rider (gonna get my permit soon) and I was looking for good beginner bikes and this one and the Kawasaki 400 were my favorites. I just wanted to ask which you think would be better? I watched your review of the Kawasaki 400 and you said that the riding position for someone taller might be a problem, and I am 5'11 so I'm not sure if it would end up being uncomfortable for me.

actually, Honda has the CBR250RR. yes, double R, look it up, it's pretty cool. also, it's pretty much a direct competitor to the R3, but sadly it's an exclusive product to South East Asian market.. i hope they'll release a 300 version to the west market

Hey Duke can you explain how you don’t have any wind noise when recording? I also have a RF-1200 but it gets quite a bit of wind noise when recording :(

Oh my friend, how hard this is to accomplish haha. JK, although I have failed many times with horrible wind noise. It's likely the mic you're using. I use a two-channel sony lapel mic thats right in front of my mouth.

Superview is your friend my dude. I have it on my helmet with 4K superview and it just gets my hands in the frame.

I own a 2020 yamaha r3 and 2018 ninja 400. Really tough choice between the two but I feel myself wanting to take the r3 out of the garage more. On the highway it’s perfectly capable just not as peppy as the ninja. The seat is way more comfy than the ninja’s seat and the riding triangle is definitely more aggressive. Both are wonderful bikes you can’t go wrong either way. Both are extremely capable bikes, ad I’m coming from a daytona 675r and cbr600rr. Small bikes are more fun! And cheaper too 🤙🏻

Hey, I have a Daytona 675, and am seriously considering downsizing to the R3 (2019+ for the updates). Besides the obvious power difference, what would you say some of the differences are?

I don’t know whether to get this Yamaha R3 or the Honda CBR500R. The CBR doesn’t have a gear indicator on the pre-2019 models, do you think this is a problem for a beginner not having a gear indicator? Thanks

Patrick Forrester As another beginner, definitely not a deal breaker. It's pretty easy to remember what gear you're in. My MSF instructors actually laughed at the idea of gear indicators because they said it's for lazy or unaware people, which I totally agree with. If you're ever stopped and unsure, just repeatedly click down. You can't go into negative gears so you'll always be in first.

just bought Honda CB650R and I would like to have something like R3 as a second bike.. Just to feel some sport position, have fun and commute easily and I don't need "real" sport bike and it's power for that

I never rid before and got a mt07 lams approved bike as my first bike only stalled once really ez to learn on also sounds so fukin good

The MT07 is certainly a decent option for a first bike. I recommend it to a lot of friends who have a slight background in motorcycles and are now ready to purchase and ride their own
