I have a Yamaha Stagepas 600i system with a pair of Yamaha SW500 powered subs. I place each speaker on a stick above each sub. I plug a Hosa YPP111 Y splitter into the sub out on the mixer and send a line to each sub. This is easily the most compact flexible little system I’ve ever owned and I simply take along as much of the system as I need to depending on the situation or the venue. This is absolutely awesome for anyone performing solo as I do or even for duos or trios. With both subs running, I wouldn’t hesitate to perform a small bar gig with a drummer and a bass player, using the system mainly for vocals of course. What a great little system!
I have done karoke and music with just two 10" at the stands and two 12" at the flour no sub addet, and i was rocking out the wedding, you have to remember that if your to loud the people are running away and uoy can blow someboty ears.
+jacobhn2 have top speakers on the floor is really wasted.. once you have some folks in front of them, the sound is almost completely gone.. you would be best to put all four speakers in the air... or put two 12" subs below your two tops.
I only had two speaker stand with me and they stood three meters apart , 10 " on the stand and 12" on the floor. there were not that many out and dance , it was a bit of difference , but I think that those who were close to the speakers , would not be able to hear 10 " tweeters maybe slightly from They both top and floor speakers. I have no speakers annymore it was a few years ago, but I plan to buy some small 10 " or 2 (2 x 6") speaker and a sub.
Total shot in the dark, but I just got the 600bt and it sounds fantastic when I play my keyboards through it. I happened to have a Yamaha subwoofer lying around from an unused surround sound system and it is a 6 channel power amplifier active servo processing subwoofer. Unfortunately I don’t have a model number, but was curious if there was a way to use this as a subwoofer through the PA. No luck so far with RCA’s or an RCA with an adapter to the subwoofer out quarter inch input. Is this a fools errand or should it work?
hello i bought i have stagepass 600i and yamaha dxs12 sub.but i dont know how to connect it,what kind of cord or cable to connect it?and which output in subwoofer i plug it?
Hey there! Thanks for the video! I already own the stagepas 400i and i wanna go for a subwoofer.. i'm just trying to figure out.. when you plug it in.. in the back.. do you only put in L or R.. or there's an adaptor we don't see that splits so it goes in both? Am I making this clear or it's just confusing? :-P thanks in advance
Very informative video! Do you guys have any experience with the DSX15 as well? I own the 600i system and I love it! I'm trying to decide between purchasing the DXS12 or the DSX15. Any suggestions?
Hi! I'm trying to decide between the 400i or the 600i. I'm a jazz/soul singer, so I would be using it mainly for duo gigs with vocals and guitar, or trio gigs with vocals, guitar, and sax. I also do a smaller jazz band set up consisting of guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. It would be used for lounge style venues, weddings, restaurant patios etc. Which one would you recommend? Thank you!
Hi guys. Great vid and tutorial. Hope someone out there can help a newbie out. I've recently started singing and have bought a Stagepas 600bt and have just ordered a DXS12 after watching this posting! I need some VERY simple instruction on how to connect the two. Obviously a 1/4 straight into the 600bt mixer subwoofer out, but which one of the 4 XLRs in the back of the DXS12 do I plug into. Left or right? 'Line' or 'thru'? Please help! So sorry to take up your time with something probably so simple,
Please, can someone tell me the sound comparison between a pair of Yamaha DBR10 and a pair of Yamaha Stagepas 600? I am not looking to wattage comparison, both are 129SPL each and 10 inch speakers. I am worried about the sound quality for music enjoyment. I just got a Yamaha Stagepas 600 and I am thinking about upgrading it to a pair of Yamaha DBR10, but is it an upgrade or they just sound like a Yamaha Stagepas? Cheers! Adittional information: DBR10 has a 2.1kHz crossover and Stagepas has a 2.8kHz crossover. Is a 2.8kHz worse? And DBR 10 tweeter is 1 inch and Stagepas is 1.4 inch.
The subwoofer is JBL PRX 818XLF. I was pretending to get a pair of JBL PRX812 speakers to match with my subwoofer, but I have got these Yamaha Stagepas in exchange of equipments.
I have heard that 12 or 15 inch speakers produce muffled voice, but not the 10 inch. So I was not inclined to get JBL PRX812 (12 inch) speakers for this reason. I have heard about Yamaha DZR315 three-way speaker including a 15 inch subwoofer, a 8 inch for mids and a tweeter. This is definitely what I seek, but two problems: too expensive and heavy :(. I need to know if I am great with my Yamaha Stagepas please! (full sound range)
Sorry for the late comment, just came across this video.. I want to expand my range with my stagepass 400bt. I was wondering if I could connect two yamaha dbr15 or maybe two mackie thumps15a powered speakers on the monitor output without damaging the speakers or the stagepass? Thanks and I hope you could help me
I'm the singer in a rock/metal band, looking for a new PA system. We play pretty loud. Do you think the 600I would work well for practices and decent sized venues?
+Infestus In Arms Maybe with two acoustics and if the system had a sub you could do groups of 200 or less.. but, not a full band.. The demands are just too great for your needs.
HII, I have the Yamaha Stagepass 400 and I have a Yamaha YST-SWO12 Subwooferf from a few years ago.... is the 400 strong enough, is the subwoofer good? I also have another subwoofer with more knobs but its not a Yamaha....can you give me any setting tips for bass and vocals,? or should I only use it for Bass guitar or a small party DJ gig?
I have the Yamaha Stagepas 600i that I use for various presentations & music. We started doing Karaoke and I thought I'd add a sub to up the experience. I ordered a Yamaha DXS15 but am not sure how to hook it up. You get a cable with TS at one end to put into the Sub output on the Stagepas and XLR at the other and then either the L or R input is fine? Thank you! Peter
Yes ok...you guys have the same set up in the video so I was just curious if you plugged the XLR plug into the L or R input of the Yamaha sub or if it even mattered...tnx
Would you help me out to verify between 600i BT and 600BT? What's the different between 600i BT and 600 BT? Is it 600i any different in specifications than 600BT? Because I've just bought the Yamaha StagePas 600i , but on the outside of the original box it said 600BT not 600i BT...I just wonder if they sent me a wrong model? Please verify this confusion. Thank you very much!
This looks like exactly what I am looking for, but this review is several years old, is there something newer or something on the horizon that surpasses this as a portable pa that can scale with a sub? In this price range?
I am still a HUGE fan of the Stagepas.. I used it again yesterday for a wedding ceremony.. I would though do the 600i and the Electrovoice ELX 12" sub they just introduced.. a GREAT combo! (I use the older version of the EV 12" sub and like it's match up better than the Yamaha sub)
Thank you! I am looking at this or the peavey escort 6000, do you have an opinion one way or another on these two units? The escort seems to have more flexible inputs.
Jesse Schafer Hi,... i bought this system last year... absolutely love it.. however you def need a sub... whether its a yamaha or other powered sub... in some gogs..the tops just arent strong enough.. and i would find the sound of the music drain and just my voice projecting. The sub got me out of this spot... great wee system all in all.
You could come out of the monitor output on the 600I with a 1/4" TS connection. Then take that into your first powered speaker, and jump to the second... it should work!! :) the Monitor out is a line level output from what I am seeing.
If you were needing something for an announcement or dinner music in a smaller area.. sure. But, even in a 2 car garage I used two for Karaoke.. just had better coverage.
I see why you'd want to do this- so that you can attach the mixer to one speaker and have an extremely compact system. These speakers are LOUD, so it would most likely work for small crowds. If you're doing this, be sure to set your pan accordingly so you don't lose any sounds!
hi guys. Great video. I have the Stagepass 400i and I would like to know what cable is need to connect my DXS15 where could I buy it. Also could I used this subwoofer for my home theater I have an Harman Kardon Receiver AVR 1565. please help Thanks.
If you have a home theater, a PA system is not the best option. While Yamaha PA systems do have high fidelity, the fact of the matter is that PA systems were designed to be loud, while home theater is quiet and more detailed.
You are looking at some very old technology in these two videos you commented on... but, at the time we made these, the Yamaha was far superior to the Peavey for sound and output..
+Amal Ajilat You can work one in. but why? there is a 3 band EQ.. and it is set up pretty well as is... don't make something simple that works well more difficult if you don't need to.. :)
+discjockeynews In user manual Yamaha mentioned that don't use any cable for speakers instead of original one to avoid heating in wires and short circuit is that true ?
+Saleh Al-Ghamdi the reason for that is the gauge of the wires... while not super thick, if you lesser quality wires, you run the risk of overheating the wires and overworking the amp.. but, if you have a bit longer speaker cables with a quality gauge/type of wire.. you will be fine. The fear is doing 50 feet of speaker wire at a thin gauge that would cause issues.
+Bernardo Caiado I don't think so.. there is a monitor out for running other powered speakers, but I don't think there is a jack or the ability for headphones like that.
If you are referring to a headworn mic system, then yes. If you are referring to monitor headphones, then you can plug an external headphone amp into the "Monitor Out"
I think 100 to 150 people is a lie, i bought it this week trusting to the comments in your video and it is nice and clear sound but not loud enough for the amount of people you say here.
+Adolfo Rubio Are you using it with a subwoofer? By itself I have used it for karaoke for 250 for corporate events.. and with a sub I have used it for 200 people back yard parties.. but, by itself it is more for background music to mid volume sound and vocals.
If it's being used in a cold environment or for a short period of time (approx. under 1 hour) it shouldn't present any problems. Always ensure proper ventilation when using any powered AV setup.
