Yamaha Ténéré 700 - Aluminum Top Case on OEM Rack + Side Cases on Givi Rack - Modifications Needed

The Yamaha OEM Rack is super practical due to the two large handles, and it comes equipped with mounting points for the OEM Yamaha Aluminum Top Case, or many of the Givi Aluminum Top Cases. If you want to fit aluminum side cases/panniers in addition, an angle grinder/flat file, some drilling, patience and painting is necessary. In this video I go through the steps for fitting the parts together.

Just an aside, why do you laugh during your presentation?

Thanks for doing this presentation. I was curious about it from an earlier post from you. It has given me a “Food for thought” as to if I really want to dd the panniers to my rear rack. I am interested as much for side protection s I am for mounting panniers. Thanks.

I put oem topcase and sidecase racks fit together without any modification. But expensive

I went with oem side case option as I'm not a fan of top cases. I just use a dry bag strapped across the top to carry light stuff like tent, & sleeping bag. I do like the oem side cases and rack. Got the locks too so they're keyed with my ignition key. Nice setup imo.

Nicely done.... I most likely wont attache Side Panniers but do like that Yamaha rack... I plan to attach a larger Pelican case to the top of that rack so I'll need to fabricate some mounting hard points along the hand grab area .... I can already smell the spray paint hahahahaha. Can I assume all those tabs sticking out the top of the rear rack are some type of polymer that can be removed some how ? Again great video ...

Do you think this is possible to do as well using OEM side case rack? Yours here seems different than my OEM side cases rack. Thanks.

I like your videos, you are so purshise! Just one thought... Why Yamaha didn't have option for 3 cases from the start? Maybe because of the wheight, i mean it's not a super tenere 1200, so you can't carry so much wheight with you... I mean the % wheight according the motorcycle's wheight... I don't know if I put it right.... But made it's not an accessory from the start, for 3 cases because this could destroy the geometry of the bike.... Small motorcycles have limitation on the wheight you can carrying....

You are probably correct. I always pack the heaviest items in the bottom cases close to the front inside in order to not alter the balance too much. For me, this bike is more than big enough in both size, power and weight - it is rough enough to lift it back up; i.e. I am glad it is not 50 kg/100 lbs heavier! :-)

@@orbsurfer8195 I agree, wheight is always a problem and this bike it's so good and vfm... For me this is the best real adventure bike on the market and if you consider the price is like stealing! I have a Honda varadero and the ratio of wheight with power i believe is the same with your tenere 700... So we do the same trip almost, but it's easier for you and more fan....

the oem rack is great, true but u can mount it with oem panier racks too, the only thing u gonna have spare part as they come in set up panniers with handles only. I asked that at Yamaha Barcelona , they confirmed is posssible

There will be more videos. I am in Norway at the moment with the Ténéré 700, but shipping took a little longer than planned, so once the snow melts I will do some more filming.
