I don't even ride motorbikes, despite being surrounded by them my whole life. I'm 32 this year and I'm getting divorced soon. The T7, to me, is perfect, and once I learn to ride I'll be looking to get one. It just seems perfect. Time to start living my life. This video was awesome!
Riding is unbelievably therapeutic. I’ve been riding for a while and this is would be a great bike to learn on. Just the seat height might intimidating but don’t be. Once u get used to it u won’t be an issue. No bike will ever check all boxes but this is pretty close. U can buzz around the city, tour and take it off road and it doesn’t have all the aids so u will actually learn how to ride.... like we all did ten years ago. Think also this is the most reliable engine on the market.
I’ve made the Alaska/Prudhoe Bay/Tuktoyaktuk trip several times on my BMW 1200GS. The next time I’d like to try it on a smaller bike. I have a Husqvarna 701 that I might use if I can get the extra fuel and luggage sorted out. I’m 71 now and I can see myself moving to a smaller bike in the future like the 890.
I currently ride a big 290kg VFR1200X Crosstourer. I too use crash bar bags (2x 12L). They distribute the weight more evenly and act as airbags when you do tip over. I've been wanting the T7 since summer 2019 when I had an hour of test riding. I'm a novice/intermediate offroader, but I could rip the **** out of this bike 5 min after I left the dealer and went offroad. Brought a handbrush with me to return the bike clean and tidy ;). Can't wait for the first batch of used T7's to hit the market. This video nicely shoes all the accessories we currently have!
Gorgeous bike. Graphics are great. The high mud guard is all it needs. (Those foot pegs looked ginormous though. Having clipped a peg on a trail bike, and went down hard, they make me nervous).
Man you have a nice garage setup, pc ready to look things up. Nice space to work, beautiful mx 5, tenere. Living the dream man. Yeah, those rear pannier frames are very wide man. Not sure if the 700 comes out with anything narrower. On my 660 I have standard Yamaha boxes which sits much tighter to the bike, but still too wide for me. At the least the frame hugs the bike much closer. You're almost as wide as a car now. But guess on back roads, there'll be less overtaking or lane splitting.
My T7 will arrive in January. Have plenty of time to upgrade it. Will do an Acerbis or the Australian? big tank. Several same or similar parts. Have you made a big trip to the north country yet. Live up that way Fairbanks in summertime.
Looking good! When are you coming to Alaska? Been enjoying my T7 here since June. I’ve got mixed feelings about the high fender mount. The looks of the high mount is the best but the amount of dirt and mud the OEM keeps off the engine and radiator is great. Not sure how much calcium chloride you’ve rode in but once it dries it’s hard as a rock and say goodbye to cooling. Bike looks amazing!
I hope to come in June 21 (Canada has to be open!). I have heard about the calcium chloride being an issue and a bike wash is a must after riding through it! I did get the high fender mounted and it looks great and appears it will be functional, but with more exposure on the radiator for sure.
Very nice setup ! I think maybe your transversal bar on the crash bar is upside down..... could you please have a look? That bar can be mounted on 4 different directions.... it should follow the radiator... If not it can touch the exhaust pipe or be very close. I made that mistake on mine.....
I’ve been on a lot of those dirty road south of Mason and even crossing the Llano River in several places. I’ve followed some Overlander routes. I ride a Triumph Tiger with Bridgestone AX41 Adventurecross tires. Enjoy the T7.
Nice one mate. I pick my T7 up on Wednesday the 16th of September, and apart for the rear pannier racks you have, my setup is very similar to yours. I will be making the wheels tubeless via a conversion once the tyres are worn out. Keep the shiny side up.
“I’m a minimalist” me, looking at my 98 XR 400 with a 2 gallon tank bungiecorded I’m the back for range. I have only ridden it to Wyoming and Texas from Nevada
Great upgrades, specially for serious riding. How about a list in the description. I think you kinda stepped over that "minimalist" line with the graphics :). But any engine mods for a bit more power or responsiveness in the works? So...why wash it? Dirt is corrosive and will destroy the finishes on *all* the surfaces, not to mention that it's a first-class abrasive that loves to hide anywhere there is a hinge or some kind of articulation. Clean is good.
John W thanks! Full exhaust is on the way. And good points on cleaning. Those graphics are a bit over the top, but I do like them! Panache. 😂 I do need to get a list together as well. New to this type of YouTubing.
Nice mods, congrats. I bet over time you might want to consider a more comfy seat for those long trips to Alaska. It'd great if you share the links for the suppliers here. Tons of good stuff. Walter, it seems that all your buying is the reason the stock market keeps going up. Farkle up! 😎
I do need to add links for sure. Trying to figure that out. And I am hoping I am doing more mental health good but if the stock market goes up so be it! 😂
Amazing attention to detail and wow, what a super clean shop, impressive! I'd suggest checking out Mosko Moto soft (frameless) luggage. It's bulletproof, will sit closer to the bike, and save a ton of weight by eliminating those hefty steel, rear luggage racks.
Peter Ansel thanks! I looked at Mosko closely but decided for my needs the racks were more suitable for my personal needs. Planning on a long ride over 12k miles on the bike. Need to haul gas and water. When I ride local they are coming off!
Great video, thank you! Your bike looks great! In which color did you order your Tenere - "Competition White" or "Power Black"? Best regards from Austria!
I've been saving up quite a while for this bike, eating rice and frying up spam digging holes on my day's off.. by golly!.. I reckon I'll have enough end of November. ~ charmed life

Ok. Many bloggers show their upgrades at some kind of shops. Do You own the shop, or do You rent time in the shop, maybe it is a club's shop. How is it working?
Thanks man! I really cannot as I did not weigh them before putting them on. For me, the weight factor is minimal compared to the protection and ability to carrier soft luggage. I will not be doing really gnarly off road riding but am not as accomplished of a rider as some either. I bet the people at Outback Motortek could give the weight specs. Make sure you go to the USA site.
You did an awesome job on this bike! So cool! Looks ready for the Dakar!👍🏻 Best of luck with it. How does this bike cruise on the Highway? At 80-85 mph, are you up high in the revs? I’m asking because I have an 18’ Street Triple R and I’m thinking of trading it in for an Adventure bike or Sport Tourer now instead. I’d be commuting to work on the Highway a lot, so that’s why I’m asking. Great video!
Your Tenere looks awesome! My favorite custom modded variant thus far. I'm in Austin TX, and we finally got one in town at the shop around the corner from my house, so I went in and sat on it yesterday. I have a TW200 and a '73 RD350. The Tenere is what I was looking into for a longer distant adventure bike. Unfortunately without lowering it, I don't think it works for me. I don't feel comfortable with how hight the seat height is. I am actually still concerned with it even if I get a lower seat and lowering link.... Sounds like you have a Super Tenere too, so you must not have any issues with the seat height :)
I cannot speak to lowering it, etc. but I just installed the rally seat and it added at least another inch in height. I’m 6’ 2” and starting to have to reach a bit. The super 10 has a Corbin in the lowered position
High, think about the foot-pedal again. The bigger one touches the ground much earlier if you make a turn or drive through a curve/corner. Kindly Fiete
Tannenherz Bushcraft are you speaking of the brake pedal or the foot pegs? I assume the pegs. For this bike I do not ride it that aggressive in the turns and it is pretty high compared to other machines. It is certainly a wake up call when you scrape them!
Paul McKimm thanks! I searched amazon for quick charge usb Quick Charge 3.0 Car Charger, Higoing 12V/24V 36W Aluminum Waterproof Dual QC3.0 USB Fast Charger Socket Power Outlet Adapter LED Digital Voltmeter& Wire Fuse kit (Black) www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q6JGX1L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_4VnrFb4QQDC9K
Sweet! Nice breakdown of your mods. I'm so curious as to that hunk of metal on that rack. I want to say its a Datsun 260. Trip to Alaska should be excellent. I've been wanting a T700 but dealers around here seem to be empty.
Oh man Paul! I am not sure I can remember them all, but I'll give it a go on names if you google them. Camel ADV, Rally Raid in the UK, Outback Motortek USA, Yamaha (of course), Off the Road in Germany. Those ones are the biggies!
Paul Van Der Vyver gotcha. R&G is the water pump cover. I removed their sticker. I got the decal kit from SKDA in Australia. Several kits to choose from.
That's a sharp looking bike!. Yamaha could take a lesson from your colour and decal treatment - that tank looks WAY better than the stock colour scheme, and really pops with the blue crash bars and rims. I will be interested to hear how the soft luggage works out - have just ordered one SW Motech Sysbag 15 and mounting plate for the rear SW Motech "Adventure Rack" before committing to side rack and panniers.
Just got a 700 on Saturday! So stoked. My first Twin, as Ive only owned single cylinder dirt bikes my entire life. Wanting to go further so this is the bike for me. Im curious to who you got the brake and clutch levers from? Do you have a link? Id really appreciate it as the stock ones on there are massive. Cheers
Great looking bike! What part of Texas are you from? I got my T7 about two weeks ago in west Texas and have a little over 1400 miles on it. I took a trip to New Mexico.
Great job. Just curious.... are you happy with the suspension (other than the heavier rear spring you are going to add for additional weight)? Any plans to do anything to the forks?
Stu H. I may be considering it as a stage 2 project, after I have had the opportunity to ride a lot more on the dirt. I did do a 90 N meter spring on the back due to my weight
You got me cracking up when the plate cover fell off and you decided the show must go on. If its any consolation I have been shooting vids for years now with no license plate covers and have not yet been murdered. I figure if any old creep can see it at a gas station or going down the road a video can't be a whole lot worse.
Looks great! I’m curious to know if rng case covers will cause overheating engine. Lack of air flow. I’ve ordered some anyway but just wanted your opinion. Cheers
Hi Walter, great video thanks - could you post a link to the R&G tie down parts that you used to replace the pillion pegs? I'd like to add these to my own T7 :) Thanks!
ha ha, he's not a minimalist in my definition lol. Guess everyone has a different starting point in that regard. My 660 has standard pipes, no screen, standard everything else. Great bike and nice job on the bike though...
How are you liking the T700 vs the S10? Do you think that the T700 is comfortable for a long ride or S10 better. Have you done any two up riding on the T700. Best part of Yamaha is dependability and ease of working on maintenance times.
I am still deciding. I still have both. I will not ride two up on either (Goldwing for that). I am hopeful the T700 will be good on the highway. I rode it 240 miles in interstate and it seemed to do good! But more riding is in order to confirm...
I am waiting to see what you think of it on the road. I have seen it is really good off road. My concern is can I nock out several hundred miles a day for several days and not be completely worn out., thanks for the response.
Hes got what a grand in extras? 1500? And it's setup. I like what hes done. I'd like to rig up my saws, gas, wedges, axe, hardhat & ride my bike out to fall timber! My T7 gears are turnin.
i typically pick up routes and roads in the hill country out by the sisters and north of Fred. Also, check out Two Wheeled Texans site. They have a dual sport ride every third Saturday of each month I think.
